Modi invites Sonia and Manmohan for Tea!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to his official residence at Race Course Road to have a tea with him on Friday evening at 7 pm and they are said to be accepted his invitation. Their tea-meeting is very significant as Prime Minister Modi wants to seek their party’s support for passing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill and 36 other bills during the current winter sessions of parliament.   Congress party has stalled this GST bill during previous sessions also, demanding for some changes in the bill. It is insisting the Modi government to mention the clause of revenue-neutral rate not higher than 18 per cent in the bill. It is also opposing the proposal of levying additional one per cent of tax by the states on supply of goods over and above the GST rate. Hence, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met almost all the senior Congress party leaders for clarifying their doubts in this regard and seeks their party support of passing this bill.   However, Modi government appears to be realized that it has to approach Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and not her party leaders for this purpose. So, Prime Minister Modi has invited them both for a tea today evening at his residence. He is hoping to convince them to extend their party support to this bill. Unless, this bill is passed in the current sessions, government can’t bring its new indirect taxation system from April 1, 2016. Hence, the tea-meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh is very significant.

Prithvi-II Missile successfully test fired

India’s nuclear capable Prithvi-II missile was successfully test-fired on Thursday from the launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha at 12.10 hrs. This surface to surface missile has a strike range of 350 km and can carry 500-1000 kgs of warheads. This missile drives with liquid propulsion twin engines and has an advanced inertial guidance system that steers the missile precisely towards its target.   This test fire of missile has been conducted as part of training exercise and to cross check operational readiness to meet any eventuality and for training purpose. Earlier, it test- fired on February 19, 2015. DRDO and Strategic Force Command (SFC) jointly monitored this test-fire operation. Officials of DRDO and SFC expressed satisfaction over its performance. They said the missile unit was taken randomly from the stocks to make sure that each and every piece of them is working perfectly.   While the DRDO radars, elctro optical tracking systems and telemetry systems located along the coast of Odisha are monitoring the missile trajectory, another team stationed on a ship at the designated impact point somewhere in Bay of Bengal monitored the terminal events and splash down. According to final reports, Prithvi-II performance is up to mark and very satisfactory.   Prithvi-II was inducted into India’ armed forces in the year 2003 and it is first of its kind developed by DRDO under India's prestigious Integrated Guided Missile Development Program.

K Janareddy challenge to CM KCR disclose bitter facts?

“The thumping victory in Warangal by elections should not make us proud and arrogant instead we should be more humble to people of the state as our responsibility increases with this victory,” said Telangana Chief Minister KCR to his party cadres.   But, CLP leader K Janareddy said “CM KCR is speaking very arrogantly after seeing this victory. He is insulting the opposition parties for their defeat in the by elections. Winning or defeat in the elections are very common for any political party. Congress is no exception to this. But, KCR should learn to behave politely and realize that his government’s responsibility increased further with this victory. He should realize that his government has to fulfill the commitments made to the people and have to meet their expectations. It seems CM KCR misunderstood what I said about this verdict.”   “However, I am accepting CM KCR’s challenge. If his government could provide irrigation water in Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts for next three years without failing, I am ready to campaign on behalf of TRS party like a TRS worker. I challenge him, if his government could provide irrigation water even after five years or make any international irrigation experts to declare the same, I am ready to campaign for the TRS party and its government like its party worker. But, if he fails to accomplish his commitment then people of the state should vote for our Congress party,” said K Janareddy to media.   Janareddy’s challenge is underlining two important points.   1. Being former Panchayat Raj minister, he is very sure that these three districts can’t be provided irrigation water in the prevailing situation despite any hard efforts. Otherwise, he will not throw such a challenge to CM KCR. This is also underlining another point that how the Congress party that ruled the united AP state for the last 10 years has ignored and destroyed agriculture in these three districts. In other words Janareddy is saying that even if CM KCR honestly put efforts for providing irrigation water to these three districts, it is highly impossible for next 8 years at least. His challenge to CM KCR is revealing the miserable agriculture situation of these three districts.   2. It is not any secret that Janareddy has been inclining towards TRS party ever since his party was defeated in the general elections held last year. So, he may choose this other way to jump into TRS party. Although, he is speaking about making alliance with rival TDP in the next general elections, if this idea works, he may find himself in TRS party by then.

YSRCP pulls out its SS weapon again

YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy and his leaders, when they were agitating for special status and creating hype for their fights, were used to criticize the TDP government and it’s Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not putting enough efforts to get it. But later, they also simply switched off their agitations but not given any explanations for it.   Now once again YSR Congress party decides to highlight their efforts for the same by raising it in winter parliament sessions. So, they once again start blaming Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not asking his party MPs to raise this issue in the current parliament sessions, during his meeting with party MPs held yesterday. YSR Congress party leader Botsa Satyanarayana flays Chandrababu Naidu and asked the TDP MPs to extend their support to YSRCP MPs when they raise this issue in parliament. He said that YSRCP MPs are also going to raise many other issues related to the state during current parliament sessions and expecting TDP MPs support for it.   Knowing that TDP won’t join hands with his party MPs, Botsa Satyanarayana is trying to create an impression that YSR Congress party alone is interested for the cause of the state and fighting for it. However, TDP is not even ready to extend its support to its fight, because for the known reasons.   But, he too knew about the efforts put by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his MPs and special representative of the state government in New Delhi K Rammohan Rao for the same during last 16 months. Hence, it is clear that even today also YSRCP is treating this special status issue as a weapon to fight out its political enemy TDP and not for the cause of the people.

Warangal by elections impact on political parties

Warangal by elections results seems deeply impacts all political parties in Telangana state. Firstly, the landslide victory boosts the confidence of TRS cadres and Telangana Chief Minister KCR. He announced that his party will contest alone in the GHMC elections, thus hinting to leave MIM hand.   These elections shatter the self-confidence of Congress party leaders, which is reflecting in their desperate proposal to make alliance with their rival party TDP. Congress MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy has come with this very peculiar proposal and senior leader K Janareddy appears to be backing it. He said Congress party will make alliance with any other party in the next elections, but there is enough time to think about such options. Although, he is not specific about TDP, he hints that Congress party can’t contest alone in the elections. Perhaps, Congress party may jump for alliance with TRS, if Chief Minister KCR agrees for it.   TDP and BJP found themselves nowhere after these by elections. They may redefine their relations because their combination is not yielding any good results. However, they may come to a conclusion after trying once again in the upcoming GHMC elections.   YSR Congress party is the only party that doesn’t have any hard feelings for its defeat or poor performance as it entered into this battle without any expectations. It may once again goes into sleep mode for a while and reactivates just before GHMC elections to extend its indirect support to secret ally TRS.
