Elections-2014 an acid test for TDP
After nine long years sitting in the opposition benches in the Assembly, even a strongest of strongest party would loose its self confidence. TDP President Chandrababu Naidu might have understood this fact and so is he sweating at this age with his ‘Vastunnaa Mekosam’ pada-yatra to recharge his party cadre.
But, the same enthusiasm was not seen among his top leaders, who indulged in group fights within. It has suddenly surfaced with the three MPs absence to FDI voting in Rajya Sabha. While, their party president taking all the pains to revamp the party and to prepare it for the next general elections, his leaders tangled with in-fights. None of them bother to see the sword hanging on their heads. But, it appears Chandrababu alone couldn’t make them fall into line as he appears frail with out power. So, he has to take pains to bring the party back into power, come he takes the help of his in-laws or his nephew Jr.NTR or his son Lokesh.
While he understood that the survival of his party entirely depends on its success in the forthcoming elections, the rest leaves the problem to their party president and sat cool watching him sweating. Unless they realize the critical situation of their party and begin teamwork immediately, even Chandrababu alone couldn’t make the party win the elections.
Unlike the previous ones, the forthcoming elections would be a life and death issue for both TDP and YSR Congress party.
But, as far as Congress party is concerned, the prevailing situation in the state eases its job in the elections. It needs not to strain itself to record a ‘sweeping defeat’ for its all round failures and due to the negative mood of the people. Unless some miracle takes place, Congress needs not to think about victory in the next elections.
As everyone knows that the elections would be very crucial for YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy, he will leave no stone unturned to win the elections to overcome all his present miseries. He has no other option but to win these elections. Otherwise his and his party position will worsens further. Even if couldn’t win the elections, at least he has to prove himself as a ‘king maker’ by bagging sufficient number of seats. In such case, TDP has to face a tough fight with him.
On the other side, there is TRS with a powerful instrument Telangana in its hand. If not mistaken, it might be whole heartedly praying the god that the Congress party fails to resolve this burning issue, so as he can sweep the elections with Telangana issue. So, whether the Congress declares its decision or not, TRS is going to convert the Telangana sentiment into votes in its favor. So, TDP hardly may make any dent in the Telangana zone.
So, unless it clean sweeps in rest of the state its survival would be in danger. Even if it manage to pocket 70-80 seats in the elections, it will not be any helpful to it. So, TDP has to make a clean sweep for its survival after the elections. Otherwise it may loose its MLAs to the major seats winner of the elections. In case of a hung the situation further worsens for TDP. But, viewing the present position of the party, one can’t assure its success in the elections. Unless, all its leaders plunge into action on war footing, no miracles can be expected for TDP. Hope TDP leaders will wake up before it is too late.
