    Man sends wife Talaq via Post

    Aafreen Rehman, 28, from Jaipur, has petitioned the Supreme Court after her husband divorced her under the provisions of the Muslim personal law of triple talaq, via speed post. She married Ashar Warsi, a lawyer,  in 2014 and alleged that her husband and in-laws had stated harassing her for dowry less than a year of marriage. Aafreen broke down while saying, "A husband can say talaq three times and its accepted in Muslim personal law as a divorce, there is no provision to ask the wife if she agrees with it or not."

    Bihar road rage victim scores 70% marks

    Bihar youth,19-year-old Aditya Sachdeva, who was shot dead allegedly by a Bihar lawmaker's son, Rocky Yadav, in Gaya earlier this month for overtaking his SUV, has scored 70 per cent marks in his class 12 board exams which were released yesterday. The distraught father said, "My son passed this exam but lost the exam of life. If he was alive we would have felt the happiness, but what can we say now," Mr Sachdeva said.

    Jaya Lalitha of AIADMK will be sworn in as Chief Minister along with 28 others, including the Finance Minister in the outgoing Cabinet O Panneerselvam, on May 23 in a function at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium.Including Jayalalithaa, there will be four women in the Cabinet besides three medical doctors. Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Saturday invited her to form the government after she won the election with a majority.

    Inquiry Commission's report on Rohith Vemula suicide

    The inquiry commission constituted by the HRD ministry to look into the circumstances of research scholar Rohith Vemula's death at the Hyderabad Central University has been given more time and it will now submit its report by August 1, this year. According to reports the commission comprising, Justice (retd) Ashok Kumar Roopanwal, has sort for three more months to draw a conclusion. They have met all the stakeholders related to the matter.

    Images of EgyptAir crash wreckage released

    Images of wreckage and personal belongings of the EgyptAir flight which has crashed have been released by the Egypt's military on Saturday. The search is continuing for flight data and cockpit voice recorders belonging to the plane that crashed in the Mediterranean Sea.The plane left Paris at 11.09 on Wednesday night and was scheduled to arrive in the Egyptian capital soon at 3.15 a.m on Thursday. It disappeared from the radar screens at 2.30 a.m.

The criteria to participate includes a minimum weight of 78.6 kgs, perform a choreographed dance and also their illingness to wear a swimming costume. They will be judged by 12 members who will be scoring them on various parameters. The fact that this competition acknowledged and celebrated a woman's curves instantly gained popularity all over the world

    BCCI gets it youngest President

    BJP MP Anurag Thakur today got unanimously elected as new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  president. He is also the youngest president BCCI ever had. He was elected at the special general meeting on Sunday after Shashank Manohar stepped down from the post to take up the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman's job. Anurag was earlier the BCCI secretary.

    Earthquake of magnitude 5.3 hits Tibet

    No major damages were reported as two earthquakes of 5.3 magnitude hit Tibet. First quake was at 9.48 am and the second one was at 10.05 am. Both were stated to be shallow quakes as they took place not far from the surface of the earth. Chinese authorities are awaiting further reports on the actual damage which has taken place due to this

    Man on crashed flight had new born baby

    Richard Osman who is believed to be traveling in the EgyptAir when it unfortunately crashed into the Mediterranean had just had a new born daughter. The 40-year-old Australian had just celebrated the birth of his second daughter with his French-born wife Aureilie and their first daughter who is believed to be 14-month-old. This sure is a difficult time for the family to wade through. On an other note, the reason for the flight disappearing is yet to be ascertained as officials are trying their best to locate the flight's black box.

    Rain plays havoc in Hyderabad

    Strong winds accompanied by heavy rains for half-an-hour on Friday evening led to huge trees being uprooted blocking roads in commercial and residential areas. Three persons were killed in separate mishaps due to the rains. As many as 175 to 200 trees and electric poles were uprooted leading to power shutdowns. Over 60 transformers exploded and 194 electricity poles were blown down.    Eight cars were crushed under a massive pillar of a hoarding which fell due to the gale. No one was injured though. 105 emergency teams of the corporation and 29 of the Water Board were engaged in clearing roads. Nearly 40 cranes were deployed to clear fallen trees and other major debris.

    Sri Lanka donates Buddha statue to Telangana

    The Telangana state government's plans of developing the Buddhist theme park at Nagarjunsagar got a big boost as it just received 27-feet replica of Avukana Buddha statue from the Sri Lankan government. The Sriparvatarama Buddhavanam heritage theme park being developed at Nagarjunasagar will be first of its kind in India. The statue has been donated under the Indo-Sri Lankan cultural exchange programme and has been installed at the meditation area, Dhyanavanam, of the park. 

    Telangana government

    Telangana gives Jains minority status

    The Telangana government lead by Chief minister KCR on Friday announced that the Jain community will be considered as a religious minority. A government order was issued from the Minorities Welfare Department (MWD) after the All India Digamber Jain Organisations Coordination Committee presented the issue to the government.The organization noted that according to the 2001 census data,there are 26,690 Jains in the state out of a population of 3.51 crore. That would mean it is 0.075 per cent of the population of the state.

    Justice Manmohan of the Delhi High Court observed that justbecause the software of the passport office didn't accept a single parent's applications, it cannot become a legal requirement. The Delhi high court has held that in certain cases, mother's name is sufficient for a child to apply for a passport , especially because a single woman can be a natural guardian as well as a parent. The judge earlier in the week has directed the regional passport office to accept applications of single mothers as well.

    Hillary Clinton who is in the race to the white house clarified her stand on having her husband and former US President Bill Clinton included in her cabinet. She said he would not serve in her cabinet if she wins the election. This was a clarification she gave after a couple of instances where she hinted at getting Bill back out of retirement.

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court on Friday ruled that LeT operations commander and six others accused in the case will be individually charged for the abetment to murder in 26/11 attacks of each of the 166 people who died in the horrific terrorist attacks ever.

    PM tweets theme song to celebrate 2yrs

    On the occasion of completing two years in office, Prime Minister Modi has tweeted a theme song on his Twitter account. The song titled "Mera Desh Badh Raha Hai, Aagey Badh Raha Hai", was tweeted by the PM using the hashtag #TransformingIndia. It highlights the country's progress and growth during his two-year in the Government.

    A very freaky incident has been taking place on the social networking site Facebook. A lady by the name Madhu Shah has been sending friend requests to anyone and everyone of late on Facebook. So much so that when a request is received from her, you tend to see a lot of mutual friends on the list. There are nearly 27 'Madhu Shah' accounts on Facebook. Users must take caution and delete the account at the earliest to prevent risking their personal information.
