Excise on jewellery is an assassination attempt- Rahul

Rahul Gandhi has once again raised his voice in severe tone. This time, it was the excise duty on non-silver jewellery that has been the issue of his concern. Rahul Gandhi has today joined the protests by the Jewellers at Jantar mantar in Delhi. Addressing to the jewellers who have been protesting over the one percent excise duty being imposed on jewellery, he assured them that they are not alone. “It’s not your fight alone, it’s ours too.   Me and the Congress party stand with you,” he said. Rahul Gandhi went on to mock the ‘Make In India’ campaign saying that it would only benefit a few big shots in the economy. He criticised that government is trying to choke the small businessmen through excise duty. `This is not excise duty, this is an assassination attempt on you’ said Mr.Gandhi.

     NIT Srinagar

Srinagar gets tense... first test for Mufti Mehbooba as CM

National Institute of Technology (NIT) continues to boil over national and anti-national factors. It all started over the T20 match between India and West Indies, in which India has of course lost the match. Few students were said to have rejoiced over the loss, which was objected by the rest. This has led to a feud between Kashmir and non- Kashmiri students. to ease the tense , two CRPF companies were deployed at the campus. Home minister Rajnath Singh has called upon the Kashmir CM to discuss the situation. Alarmed by the incidents, a HRD team is now heading to NIT to perceive the matter.   Mehbooba Mufti who took the CM post after much hesitation seems to be facing her first acid test to prove her diplomacy. Meanwhile honourable Delhi CM Kejriwal took the situation to express his valuable views. `They are beating those who are chanting Bharat Mata ki Jai in Kashmir, while doing the same against those who are not raising the slogan in the rest of the country,` said Kejriwal in his twitter.

Selfie kills a man at Nehru Zoo... Hyderabad

Manjit Chowdhary of Hyderabad, an 18 year old couldn’t have expected that his tour to the Nehru Zoological park would end in such a disaster. In what is thought to be a selfie craze, Manjit has climbed a high rock in the no entry zone of the zoo, only to end his fate. The high rock which is being used as an artificial waterfall, has proved to be slippery to lay his feet. Manjit fell down from the high rock and has succumbed to the injuries. Though Zoo officials deny any chance of negligence on their part, showing a `No-Entry` signboard at the scene, family members of the victim were alleging otherwise. They were alleging that Manjit was killed due to electrocution. The motor used to create the water falls has turned the whole place into a power house, claims the family of Manjit. However, everyone is on consensus that Manjit has entered a No-entry zone that’s dangerous, and he dared to such feet only for a picture. That’s certainly pathetic!

    US presidential election

    Trump looses key elections

In what is supposed to be a memorable twist in the US presidential election, Trump has lost a key primary at Wisconsin. 36 out of 42 Republican delegates has chosen Ted Cruz to be their candidate for the Presidency against Trump. This is of course thought to be a major set back for Trump, who has been racing forward. But it seems that Trump has dug his own grave. During his speech to woo the delegates in Wisconsin, Trump has made controversial remarks over abortion, which has changed the scenario forever.   Trumps remarks over Ted Cruz’s wife has also created a flutter among the delegates. These have led to the defeat of Trump at Wisconsin. With the latest results, Trump is left with 740 delegates while Cruz has amassed 514 votes. The Republican party of US has made it clear that out of 2472 delegates, someone should win atleast 1237 votes to be its candidate. With 888 votes still to be cast, both Trump and Cruz seems to have equal chances to be in the race.

    Panama Leaks....Iceland PM resigns

Panama Leaks, the scam that’s rocking the globe, seems to have claimed its first victim. Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, the Prime Minister of Iceland had to resign after his name got surfaced in the elites list mentioned in the scam. Gunnlaugsson along with his wife is alleged to have made huge investments in British Virgin Island to save and legalise their black money. Gunnlaugsson has been busy amassing huge wealth, though his nation was going through financial hiccups.   The Prime Minister had to resign after huge protests were made before the Parliament building in Iceland. Gunnlaugsson though has resigned from the post, has denied any reports of his involvement in the scam. He has declared that he and his wife has cleared all the taxes. He further recommended the parliament to be dissolved. But the Iceland President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson is not keen to dissolve the parliament which would have been further embarrassment to the nation. Now that Iceland PM has gone... who’s next?

    Kejriwal

BJP has back stabbed India- Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister never holds back his words. The soft looking politician gets too harsh when he types a twitter message. So his tweets would always gain the headlines and get listed for the breaking news. In his latest tweets, Kejriwal came hard over government’s decision for letting a team from Pakistan (JIT) to probe the Pathankot attacks. The Pakistani team has as expected found nothing legitimate to prove the involvement of Pakistani citizens in the attack. There were even reports that the team has found India to be responsible for the attacks.   According to them, India has conducted the attacks by itself, to defame Pakistan! Kejriwal who has been opposing the entry of JIT seems to have gained enough reasons to blame the government over the latest developments. `BJP and RSS keep chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai. But they back stab Bharat Mata by allowing Pakistani ISI team to India!.` Kejriwal doesn’t end there “It is very shameful. It's for the first time that a Prime Minister has insulted our country before Pakistan,” says the Delhi CM in another tweet.  Well! Well! The twitter bird of Kejriwal seems to be too harsh!

    Dhoni

My relation with Dhoni is like a scar- Laxmi Raai

The buzz is everywhere. It’s so loud that none could turn deaf from it. Dhoni and South Indian actress Laxmi Raai had been in relation for a while. But that was past and that’s been almost 7-8 years. Raai was never recognized for her acting talent, nor her screen presence... but for her relationship with Dhoni. Now, she might have thought that it’s too much and has been trying to brush off the past.   Talking to a daily recently she said that "I've begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won't go away for a long time.... Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni's past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my kids in future will see it on TV and ask me about it!." Raai has admitted that her relation with Dhoni has never worked out and it ended very soon. Dhoni was happily married thereafter. But Raai took the burden of relation being associated with her name. Who can deny that it’s a male world!

     Bihar

Bihar imposes total ban on Alcohol

Bihar Chief Minister has done the unexpected. He has imposed total ban on alcohol in Bihar from today. This would effect any kind of liquor, whether its desi or foreign. Present ban would include Bihar in the elite group of states which have banned alcohol. Kerala, Gujarat and Nagaland were the only states that are implementing a ban on liquor.   Though Bihar has been earning thousands of crores through liquor sales, the government was of the view that alcoholism is severely affecting the poor. Nitish Kumar has often reiterated that women are worst effected by alcohol consumption in their families. Bihar has tried for a ban on alcohol in past. That was during the tenure of Karpoori Thakur during 1977-78 who  proposed a liquor ban. However, his government had failed to implement it effectively. Hope that history won’t repeat for Bihar.

    Fake encounter killings

47 policemen sentenced for fake encounter

It’s certainly a case of justice delayed, but it was delivered! At least after 25 years of a gruesome crime.   - 47 policemen were today found to be guilty in a fake encounter and were sentenced to life by the special court of CBI.   - The encounter which was carried out in 1991 has claimed the lives of 13 victims from Uttar Pradesh.   - Police have allegedly committed this fake encounter to get promotion!   - They took 13 Sikh youth under custody and killed them all for no reason. - Later few arms were laid beside the corpses and they were declared as Khalsa terrorists.   - After a huge outcry, the Supreme court has ordered a CBI investigation into the case to get the facts revealed.   - The CBI was convinced that 57 policemen were involved in the crime, out of which 10 were dead during the process of investigation.   - However, the families of victims claim that higher officials were behind the crime and were left off even without a probe.

    India

Dress code in temples... not compulsory!

The Madras high court has today set aside, an order passed in a previous judgement regarding the dress code to be worn by devotees who enter any Hindu temple. In 2015, a judge of Madurai bench has prescribed dhoti or pyjama with upper cloth or formal pants and shirts for men; saree or half saree with blouse, churidhar with upper cloth for women and fully covered dress for children as dress code for the temple visitors. The judge has further ordered the police to prevent devotees who come in attire contrary to the prescribed one. This judgement has of course created controversy in the state and women associations along with the state government has moved the high court for a relief.   The Madras high court has slashed the judgement saying that the courts should not enter into such sensitive issues unless someone has a objection to them. In the said case, the judge has voluntarily prescribed the dress code though the issue was not raised in the case. The madras high court has also cautioned that judgments should not represent the personal values and opinions of judges. However, the high court has made it clear that if any temple makes a certain dress code compulsory and if a person approaches the court in objection, then the court would certainly deliver its judgement. But no one seems to have raised the objection till now!

    panama papers

Centre orders probe on PANAMA PAPERS

Within a day, Panama Papers seem to have become a household name in India. Almost 500 Indians were being alleged to have role in this scam which protects and channelize the black money. Though India has strictly mentioned that not more than 25,000$ can be invested annually overseas, most of the people in the list either seems to have misused or manipulated the rule.   Ranging from celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan to politicians like Vladimir Putin, Panama Papers seems to have decoded the illegal assets of big shots from every nation and every field. Looking at the heat of the situation India has ordered a probe to investigate Indians who were listed in the ‘Panama papers.’ Various agencies such as Central Board of Direct Taxes and RBI would be a part of the team. As the government is facing criticism for not taking strict action against money laundering issues, MODI is keen to resolve the present issue as soon as possible.

    RBI

RBI announces a cut in REPO... but what’s REPO?

Reserve Bank of India has today announced a cut in the REPO rate. It has slashed the REPO rate by 25 points and decided the rate at 6.5%. This is the lowest REPO rate since January 2011. But wait! What’s a REPO rate and what has it to do with the economy?   - A REPO rate is the interest charged by the RBI on the amount it lends to the banks.   - In case of inflation, RBI would increase the REPO rate to discourage the banks for lending loans from RBI. Thus the cash flow in the economy would drop down.   - If the inflation rate is under control, RBI might decrease the REPO rate to provide more inflow of funds into the economy.   - Presently RBI has decreased the REPO rate for two reasons. Firstly, the inflation rate at present is under control and secondly RBI feels that the present government is depending more on investments rather than borrowing.- It’s being widely expected that RBI might slash down a further .25% in REPO rate by this June. This would certainly make banks happy.   - But would the banks in turn decrease the rates to their customers is a matter of decision that lies with banks.

    nuclear summit

Madmen might use Nuclear bomb... OBAMA

Speaking at the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) convened at his own initiative, US president Obama has raised severe concerns over the misuse of Nuclear weapons by terrorists. Expressing his fears that terrorist organisations like al Qaeda and ISIS could grab some nuclear material, he said that they could use it to kill innocent  people. "There is no doubt that if these madmen ever got their hands on a nuclear bomb or nuclear material, they would certainly use it to kill as many innocent people as possible," he said.   Obama has invited leaders from over 50 countries for NSS to discuss the safety of Nuclear weapons. He reiterated the need for clearing off the materials such as uranium and plutonium fuels, so that terrorists may not make their own dirty bomb with such ingredients. Obama has also took the occasion to raise his concern over ISIS. But he is happy with the present war with ISIS. “They’re losing their oil infrastructure and revenues. Their morale is suffering,” he said.

    Delhi

Delhi- Girls turned violent as they failed in exams

Everyone may not come out with flying colours through the exams. But when most of the students find themselves failed in a class, it could be a recipe for disaster. That’s what has happened in Delhi. More than 600 students of class 9 and 11 has failed in the Government Girls Senior Secondary School of Delhi. The results have of course devastated the hopes of girls and they gathered before the office room to protest. Soon the protests turned out to be aggressive.   Girls have gone violent and started vandalising the school property. Chairs, fans, flower pots and benches got broken in the hands of angry students. The police had to intervene as the situation got out of hand. Even the principal of the school had to be escorted out of the school with the help of police. A case was registered and few students were detained after the incident.

Google tried to joke on April fool... but...

Who wouldn’t love to find some fools on April 1st. But the prank made by google through gmail has turned to be disastrous. Yesterday, Google has added an additional button right after the send button called ‘drop mike.’ If someone clicks this button, then the recipient would see a cartoon dropping the mike. This gesture means that the sender has the final word. The recipient won’t be able to reply the mail. Though the intentions weren’t harmful, accidental hit of this button has indeed created a havoc among mailing community.   Some recipients thought the mail to be rude, while some others were unable to make important replies. Complaints have poured in to google blaming the button. Some have said that they have lost their job while others complained of a ruined relation. Google has of course issued a statement of apology. "Well, it looks like we pranked ourselves this year. Due to a bug, the Mic Drop feature inadvertently caused more headaches than laughs. We're truly sorry. The feature has been turned off. If you are still seeing it, please reload your Gmail page," said the company.

Indian loss in T20 led to closure of college

India might have lost its semi final match against West Indies. But the after shocks seem to have strucked the whole country. The students in National Institute of Technology, Srinagar have clashed over the result. Some students who are pro Pakistan were said to have enjoyed the loss and has made some anti India slogans. This has led to severe clashes which went unstoppable.   The police had to use lathi charge and teargas to control the crowd. The clashes has erupted again after the Friday prayers which led the management to take final steps. NIT authorities has shut down the campus and students have been asked to vacate the hostel. Meanwhile, Indira Gandhi Dental College in Kashmir too witnessed similar controversy, as the Indian flag was burnt after the match. A case was filed and investigation was being held about the issue.

Jaya and Mamata to retain power- Opinion polls

Even before the electing process has started, various opinion polls began to emerge to tense the situation. The results of India TV-Cvoter opinion poll and ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll were released yesterday. According to both the polls, Mamata would retain West Bengal while Jayalalitha is supposed to be the next CM in Tamilnadu. In Kerala, the ruling congress might be ousted by the voters, according to the opinion polls.   The present government in Kerala which is facing the solar scam heat might leave way to the opposition. Here, the Left Democratic Front is being expected to win the elections. However, the opinion polls were of different views regarding Assam. India TV-Cvoter poll has predicted a hung in Assam Assembly with BJP alliance winning 56 seats out of 126 seats. But ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll is confident that BJP led alliance would win 78 seats, enough to form the government.

Fatwa against ‘Bharat mata ki jai’

The Darul Uloom seminary in Deoband has recently issued a fatwa clarifying the stand of Islamic scholars on the issue of Bharat mata ki jai slogan. A fatwa is a expert opinion of Islamic scholars over queries of people in light of Quran and Hadees. As the readers are aware that the slogan has turned into a controversy after the AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, has said that none could force him to chant that slogan.   The remarks of Owaisi has sparked a huge controversy. Some noted scholars like Javed Akhtar took over Owaisi on this issue. Now the fatwa has clearly stated that chanting such a slogan is against Islam, as their religion believes in only one god. On the other hand, the fatwa has also tried to promote nationalism - "India is without doubt our country. We and our ancestors were born here. We love our country, but we do not think it is our God." Now! Will the fatwa end the controversy or speed it up!
