  • Indian loss in T20 led to closure of college

India might have lost its semi final match against West Indies. But the after shocks seem to have strucked the whole country. The students in National Institute of Technology, Srinagar have clashed over the result. Some students who are pro Pakistan were said to have enjoyed the loss and has made some anti India slogans. This has led to severe clashes which went unstoppable.   The police had to use lathi charge and teargas to control the crowd. The clashes has erupted again after the Friday prayers which led the management to take final steps. NIT authorities has shut down the campus and students have been asked to vacate the hostel. Meanwhile, Indira Gandhi Dental College in Kashmir too witnessed similar controversy, as the Indian flag was burnt after the match. A case was filed and investigation was being held about the issue.

Jaya and Mamata to retain power- Opinion polls

Even before the electing process has started, various opinion polls began to emerge to tense the situation. The results of India TV-Cvoter opinion poll and ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll were released yesterday. According to both the polls, Mamata would retain West Bengal while Jayalalitha is supposed to be the next CM in Tamilnadu. In Kerala, the ruling congress might be ousted by the voters, according to the opinion polls.   The present government in Kerala which is facing the solar scam heat might leave way to the opposition. Here, the Left Democratic Front is being expected to win the elections. However, the opinion polls were of different views regarding Assam. India TV-Cvoter poll has predicted a hung in Assam Assembly with BJP alliance winning 56 seats out of 126 seats. But ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll is confident that BJP led alliance would win 78 seats, enough to form the government.

Fatwa against ‘Bharat mata ki jai’

The Darul Uloom seminary in Deoband has recently issued a fatwa clarifying the stand of Islamic scholars on the issue of Bharat mata ki jai slogan. A fatwa is a expert opinion of Islamic scholars over queries of people in light of Quran and Hadees. As the readers are aware that the slogan has turned into a controversy after the AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, has said that none could force him to chant that slogan.   The remarks of Owaisi has sparked a huge controversy. Some noted scholars like Javed Akhtar took over Owaisi on this issue. Now the fatwa has clearly stated that chanting such a slogan is against Islam, as their religion believes in only one god. On the other hand, the fatwa has also tried to promote nationalism - "India is without doubt our country. We and our ancestors were born here. We love our country, but we do not think it is our God." Now! Will the fatwa end the controversy or speed it up!

Pakistan and Iran fight over Indian spy

Pakistan might be claiming that it has arrested an Indian spy in its province of Baluchistan. Though India has been denying the reports, saying that the accused is only a retired Navy officer... Pakistan is trying to make the issue bigger and louder. Now the issue of Kulbhushan Yadhav, the accused spy seems to have dragged Iran on its way too. Yadav is holding a passport of Iran and has been living in Chahbahar, a port city in Iran. He is said to have illegally entered into Baluchistan through the Iran border without any difficulty. This allegation has forced Pakistan to question the motives of Iran.   But Iran has not only denied of any knowledge regarding the accused, but has also slammed the Pakistani media for pointing fingers at it. The embassy of Iran has issued a statement which almost felt like a warning. “During past days some section of Pakistani media has spread contents regarding detention of an Indian agent and the matter related to it, which could have negatives implications on the fraternal and friendly atmosphere of Iran and Pakistan,” the embassy warned. Iran is known to be a natural ally for Pakistan for many decades together. But the latest development seems to have jolted an otherwise smooth relation. What next!

    Dhoni ridicules a journalist again

Is Mr. Cool Dhoni losing his patience with the media? Probably Yes! After the narrow nail biting victory over Bangladesh, Dhoni has indeed slammed a journalist hard. Asked whether he was happy with the one run victory- `Your tone and your question suggest that you are not happy with India’s victory.... You should not have asked this question’ replied Dhoni. Yet again after the defeat against Windies in Semi finals, Dhoni handled a journalist rudely.   When Samuel Ferris, an Australian journalist asked Dhoni about his retirement. Dhoni has indeed forced him to come on the dais and answer the question by himself. `You think I can survive till the 2019 World Cup?’ pushed Dhoni for which Samuel replied `Sure, Yes!.’ `Then you've answered the question!’ said Dhoni with a smile. Though the media room was burst into laughter at the incident, the journalist on the stage is of course left with a red face! From hereon... who could ever pose a typical question to Dhoni!

    ARMY information leaked to Maoists

Higher officials of CRPF were suspecting a mole in the Dantewada incident, where 7 army personnel were killed by Maoists. It’s been said that the CRPF personnel were all dressed in civil, and they are moving in a private vehicle. None except the people from department knew about their movement. But still the Maoists have ripped their vehicle with a powerful blast.   If the suspicion of officials can be trusted, someone has indeed revealed the official information to the Maoists. This is indeed worrying the army, as the Maoists in Dantewada are flourishing day by day. It was not just that! Maoists are now getting ready to made a blast in public places. Tunnels are being dug under the concrete roads, and heavy ammunition were placed to be blasted. This sort of strategy would certainly turn the whole region of Dantewada into a war zone!

Trump to be dumped over abortion issue

The Presidential candidate of America has proved again.... that he is controversial! Donald Trump while an election campaign has expressed his personal views over abortion. He stated that `some form of punishment’ should be given to those who undergo abortion. But he was not sure of whether the punishment should be of monetary kind or imprisonment. Trump’s statement has infused huge debate across the nation. As his views and respect for women was being questioned seriously these days, his latest remarks has sparked much criticism. Finding the situation getting out of hand, Trump has quickly issued a clarification.   But the clarification has proved to be disaster too. “If Congress were to pass legislation making abortion illegal... the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb,” the statement read. With this statement Trump has moved the controversy from women to doctors! Trump has always been lucky to get more popularity out of controversial statements. But this time, some people are looking forward to dump Trump even before the election process.

India won’t bow to terrorism- Modi

Speaking at a crucial time in Brussels, Indian prime minister has rightly targeted the issue of terrorism in his speech. Addressing the Indian community in Brussels, Modi has expressed his condolences to the victims of recent terrorist attacks. He then took on the UN assembly for not addressing the problem of terrorism. He said that it was unfortunate that UN was still unable to define terrorism and act against the countries which groom terrorism.   Modi might be hinting at Pakistan while giving such statement. However, he said that India has been suffering with terrorism for 40 long years, but would never bow for it. “The world was jolted by 9/11. Till then the world powers did not understand what India was going through. But India never bowed to terrorism and there is no question of bowing before it,” said the prime minister.

Pakistan is a very vital problem- Trump

American Presidential candidate Donanld Trump has once again made his fears public over Pakistan. Speaking at a town hall in Wisconsin, Trump has mentioned the terrorist attack in Lahore on the Easter day. "When I see that and when I see it put in a park because it was mostly Christians, although many others were killed other than Christians, I think it's just absolutely a horrible story," said Trump recalling the incident where more than 70 people were killed by a suicide bomber.   Trump has promised the audience that he would resolve the problem of Islamic terrorism better than anyone else in the presidential race. Trump has even expressed his fears of Pakistan being a nuclear nation- "Pakistan is a very, very vital problem and really vital country for us because they have a thing called nuclear weapons. They have to get a hold of their situation," said Trump during his speech. Trump has always sounded harsh when it comes to Pakistan. Last year, he called Pakistan the most dangerous country in the world.

Mallya has left the nation just a few days before these banks reached the apex court to restrain his moment. But the lawyers of Mallya were always reluctant to reveal his whereabouts. They have said that he has been in touch with banks through video conference and that would be enough. Banks would certainly be happy to hear the latest news, but were not sure whether to accept the proposal or not! The Supreme court has granted a week’s time for the banks to respond to the call! What would the banks say now!

    100 percent FDI in e-commerce

The central government has here upon, made its stand clear on FDI’s in the field of e-commerce. Government has stated that Foreign investors can float a e-commerce business in India with 100 percent investment. However it would be applicable only in case where a company would act as mere facilitator between seller and the buyer. Which means, such company is neither allowed to sell goods by itself nor could it hold any inventory.   Further, such an e-commerce firm will not be permitted to sell more than 25 per cent of its sales from one particular vendor. The present announcement might certainly woo the foreign investors to take part in the online shopping boom of India. Global players such as Alibaba might certainly sniff a chance to set their feet in the country. While some analysts view this decision as harmful to the national market, some other’s view it as best opportunity to attract investors.

    A new president for Myanmar

Htin Kyaw, a close aide of Aung San Suu Kyi, was sworn in yesterday as Myanmar’s president. Hitin Kyaw would be placed in history as the first democratic leader after decades of military dictatorship. Initially it was Aung San Suu Kyi, that was thought to be right person for the post. But a clause in the constitution has prevented her from bearing the seat. The said clause prevents a person with a foreign spouse to reach the presidency.   This clause was thought to have made keeping Aung San Suu Kyi in mind, who married a British national. It was not just the clause. The military has also made it clear that 25 percent of the parliamentary should be reserved to the military. And one of the two vice presidents should be chosen from military. So, the democracy in Myanmar might still be a name sake! But after decades of dictatorship, even a partial form of democracy can be hailed as a victory. Thanks to the fight and effort made by Aung San Suu Kyi for the cause!

Amitabh Vs. Flintoff... the twitter war

Sunday night might have witnessed a great win of Indian T20 match over the Aussies. The brave knock of 82 not out by Virat Kohli might have made the victory a possibility. While everyone’s busy praising Virat for his unique performance, England’s ex caption Andrew Flintoff seems to have chosen a different step. He compared Virat Kohli to an upcoming England batsman Joe Root. He said that if Virat continues to play in this manner, he would certainly reach the level of Joe Root.   That’s certainly an embarrassing statement for a cricketer like Virat. Amitabh was quick to reply on behalf of Virat. `Root who? We would pluck out any ROOT that comes in our way’ was the tweet by Amitabh. Flintoff was not the man who likes an answer like that. He has questioned `Amitabh who?’ in his reply and that’s it. Fans of both Amitabh and Indian cricked has slammed Flintoff reminding him about the fan following of Amitabh. Tweets poured across comparing the 20 million twitter followers of Amitabh with mere 1.8 million for Flintoff. Finally Flintoff had to read the statistics and sign off for the day. But in a sad mood!

Soon you can dial 112 for emergency

One need not watch many Hollywood movies to know the significance of 911. 911 is an emergency service in US which responds to every kind of distress call. India too might have an uniform emergency service like that. The central government seems to have accepted a suggestion made by a telecom commission.   According to the suggestion, there would be a uniform emergency service available at 112. This service would be available even for those phones with suspended outgoing facility. A call centre like system would be established to receive these phone calls and divert them to the required department. At present, India is having various emergency services under various numbers. Services such as 100 (police), 101 (fire) were uniform in most of the states... while 108 (ambulance), 1094 (missing cases) were available in specific states. If everything falls in place, this service might be available by next year!

Sikh riots are different from Gujarat riots- Kanhaiya

JNU student president Kanhaiya Kumar has raised yet another controversy. Kanhaiya has alleged that the Gujarat riots were staged and encouraged by the government, while the Sikh riots in 1984 were the result of mob frenzy. “There is a fundamental difference between a mob killing a common man and massacring people through state machinery. Therefore, the threat of communal fascism we are faced with today, there is an attack being launched on universities, because like Hitler, Modi ji doesn’t have support from intellectuals in India.   No intellectual is defending Modi regime,” were the words of Kanhaiya while speaking at a seminar in Delhi. Kanhaiya hasn’t stopped there. He went on to criticise the fear of common man against terrorism. He called it Islamophobia. “Today it’s an era of Islamophobia. Leave aside the words of terrorism and terrorist. The moment these words will come to your mind, imprints of face of a Muslim person will be there in your mind. This is Islamophobia,’’ was the definition of Kanhaiya.   Interesting Kanhaiya made his statements on Gujarat riots, on the lines of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul has previously said that `while the Gujarat government was involved in the 2002 riots, the Congress government had tried to stop the anti-Sikh riots.’ Rahul’s statement was severely criticised by the opposition as well as by the Sikh leaders. Now! can Kanhaiya get away with his words?

Readers might be aware of a gruesome attack by ISIS on the charity home, run by the Missionaries of Charity in Yemen. Thomas Uzhunnalil, a Christian father from India has been missing from the staff since the day. The external affairs ministry has even confirmed him to be abducted by the ISIS militants. It’s now believed that Thomas has been executed by the ISIS in a gruesome manner.   He was thought to have been crucified on the day of Good Friday, depicting the death of Jesus. Though this report has not been confirmed by the Indian government, ISIS is certainly known to involve in such hideous acts. However people working in the Missionaries of Charity at Yemen, were always ready to face such consequences. Even though they were advised to shut down the charity home by the Indian Embassy, they kept helping the needy risking their own lives.

    Reservations to JATs approved!

The prolonged agitation by JAT community in Haryana seems to have yielded desired results. The Haryana Cabinet has today approved the Jat reservation bill. This bill will soon turn out into a legislation after it is approved by the assembly. The decision has taken just a day after the JAT leaders has threatened the government, that they are ready for a fresh agitation. JAT community leaders have been demanding a separate reservation for them under the BC quota.   The government seem to heed their wish. The bill has intended to provide reservation to Jats under a newly created category for backward classes (BC-3). But it’s not just JATS that are going to be benefited with the bill. Four other castes in the state were included in the list to be beneficiaries. This bill is likely to be approved by the ongoing budget session of the assembly, and could certainly halt the agitation of JATs’ for a while! Minute details of the bill were yet to be disclosed.
