The Darul Uloom seminary in Deoband has recently issued a fatwa clarifying the stand of Islamic scholars on the issue of Bharat mata ki jai slogan. A fatwa is a expert opinion of Islamic scholars over queries of people in light of Quran and Hadees. As the readers are aware that the slogan has turned into a controversy after the AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, has said that none could force him to chant that slogan.
The remarks of Owaisi has sparked a huge controversy. Some noted scholars like Javed Akhtar took over Owaisi on this issue. Now the fatwa has clearly stated that chanting such a slogan is against Islam, as their religion believes in only one god. On the other hand, the fatwa has also tried to promote nationalism - "India is without doubt our country. We and our ancestors were born here. We love our country, but we do not think it is our God." Now! Will the fatwa end the controversy or speed it up!
