  • Dalai Lama... the last Lama!

The standoff between Dalai Lama and Chinese authorities might be a fact forever. Dalai lama was exiled from the Tibetan province in 1959, after China took control over Tibet. The Buddhist monk has since been trying to gain autonomy for Tibet, without any success! It’s a belief among the Tibetan Buddhists that the Lama is an incarnation of his previous Lama, and he himself would reincarnate after his death. But China has been too wise to use this belief in its own way. Many activists feel that China would place some person of it’s own choice and would declare him as the Lama of the next generation.   So Dalai lama has declared that he would be the last Lama and he might not incarnate further. This statement has of course outraged the Chinese officials. Writing in the state-run Global Times, the top Chinese officials have accused Dalai lama for betraying, and being disrespectful towards the Tibetan Buddhism by saying that there might be no more reincarnations. They have even warned that if any foreign country approaches Dalai lama, it has face the rage of China! So it seems to be the Buddhist Vs. The communist.

    Kohli world's best batsman- Gavaskar

Kohli might have made more than half of the runs required while chasing the target set by Ausis. His brilliant knock of 82 runs has steered India into the semi finals of T20 Worldcup. Veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has laid all his praises for Kohli after the performance. "At the moment he is got to be the best limited-overs batsman in the world. There is no question about it. There is not the slightest doubt about it because he is beyond phenomenal. He is something else," Gavaskar said to NDTV. Gavaskar is happy to see Kohli performing while   chasing a total or making it. It’s not just that, the legendary cricketer seems to be happy about the character of Kohli too. He praised Kohli for giving an opportunity to the skipper for making the final runs in the match against Ausis. Sunny finds the act as ‘Selflessness’. Gavaskar seems to be pleased about many things in the Indian cricket. He feels that Dhoni is making wise decisions. He’s glad that bowlers are delivering their best performance and to mention again.... he’s happy about the performance of Virat under pressure.

JNU event involved Jihadis- Arun Jaitley

Finance minister Arun Jaitley has once again went hard against the events that took place in JNU. Jaitley has been speaking to PTI journalists where he has made several remarks regarding the ongoing debate on nationalism and sedation. He felt that the incidents in JNU and Hyderabad University were triggered by `the ultra-Left movements involving a small section of jihadis.’ He slammed the opposition for getting involved in those agitations-   "The moderate Left and the Congress had got trapped into what was otherwise a movement of the ultra-Left." Jaitlsey is of the view that these incidents have raised a debate over nationalism, and BJP has won the debate. Jaitley has even touched the latest issue Bharat mata ki jai slogan "It is not compulsory in this country to raise a slogan (Bharat Mata ki Jai). But it became an issue only when somebody said I take objection and I will not raise it," said the minister hinting at Asaduddin Owaisi.

Bank employees not allowed to strike by High court

Even the courts seem to have been fed up with strikes. In what could a radical judgement, the high court of Karnataka has disallowed the IDBI bank employees of the state to carry on a strike. Observing that the strike would not only disrupt the lives of its customers, but would also derail the economy... the court has passed an interim order to nullify the proposed strike. Earlier, the 800 odd employees of IDBI across the state of Karnataka has issued a notice to the management, about a strike from March 28 to 31.   But now the High court has allowed them only to hold meeting within the union premises without disrupting the bank activity. The employees have called for the strike against the proposal to reduce the government’s stake in the below 51%. They fear that such a change in the capital might post a threat to their job security. The repeated assurances by the management hasn’t done any good to their confidence. Now the High court’s order might certainly intensify their fears.

Aung San Suu Kyi’s Anti-Muslim remarks

Noble peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi might be celebrating her party’s victory in Myanmar. But a new book suggests that she is apathetic towards Muslims. She once was irked by the questions raised by a Muslim reporter that she went on to say- “No one told me I was going to be interviewed by a Muslim.” This incident has happened when Mishal Husain, a BBC presenter asked her repeatedly to condemn the communal riots in Myanmar, for which she denied. These comments were revealed in Peter Popham’s book ‘The Lady And The Generals: Aung San Suu Kyi And Burma’s Struggle For Freedom’.   Though the burst out of Aung San is not enough to prove that she doesn’t care for Muslims. She has never agreed to condemn anti Islamic sentiment in Myanmar that led to religious conflicts. Tens of thousands of Muslims were forced to leave their homes, after the religious violence. But Aung San, an active speaker on behalf of oppressed has never raised her voice.  One can certainly wonder why!

National volleyball player stabbed to death

The bright career of a national level volley ball player was put to an abrupt end by a stalker. 14-year-old Sangita Aich of West Bengal, was a Class 9 student who had played volleyball at national as well as state level. She was killed by another national player Subrata Sinha (18) for rejecting his proposals. The incident took place when Sangitha was attending a training camp in Barasat. Sinha reportedly had an argument with her and later hit her several times on the head before leaving the spot. Though victim was rushed to the hospital, doctors have declared her as brought dead.   The murder took place in front of around 25 volleyball players and three coaches. Even though some of them tried to avert the incident, they couldn’t succeed restraining the culprit. Sinha who has now surrendered to the police accused Sangita of cheating him after running love affair for two straight years. But Sangitha’s relatives were denying his words. They were alleging that Sinha has threatened her on several occasions, and even the complaints made to the police in this regard were ignored.

Will seal the Bangla border in Assam... says Jaitley

The issue of Infiltration seems to have become the major agenda for BJP in the forthcoming elections of Assam. The Vision document released for the elections has clearly stated the fact. “The Congress tried to destroy and change the demography of the State by encouraging infiltration. It has been doing it for many decades and took no action,” said Arun Jaitley blasting at the present congress regime. The Vision document has stated that BJP would completely seal the Indo-Bangla border, if its it’s let into the power.   The  document has also promised resolving the issue of citizenship, to sort out illegal immigrants present in the state. Taking the occasion, Arun Jaitley has also tried to woo the voters of Assam through some financial statistics. He said that Assam has been sanctioned a far better share in the taxes. He assured them that a law would be enacted soon to deal with agencies employing infiltrators.

In UP almost 30 people die over HOLI

It’s a known fact that the festival of Holi would be celebrated with much fervor in Northern India. But most often, it would end with mishaps. Rash driving, group clashes, drunken driving, heated altercations... would always result in injuries. Even this year, almost 30 people were thought to have been killed in such incidents. In Lucknow alone, as many as 19 people were killed in group clashes and drunken driving. The unofficial statistics might be far more. The trauma centre in Lucknow, was filled with patients suffering from head injuries as they rode without a helmet. The Orthopedic wards in the city too were busy dealing with multiple fractures due to clashes and reckless driving. Though police have declared to have tried their best to avoid such mishaps, truth seems to be contradictory. Some policemen in Moradabad were seen driving in a fire station vehicle using it’s hose to spray water and celebrate holi.

Kejriwal among world’s 50 greatest leaders

Courts might slam him hard, opponents might lash him harsh... the news about Kejriwal has often be negative for him. But not this time! He has been on the list of world’s 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine. Releasing the list for the third time in a row, Fortune has said to have included people who are “transforming the world and inspiring others to do the same.” There were no other Indians on the list including our popular PM. However, South Carolina’s Indian-American Governor Nikki Haley is on the list at 17th place, while Indian-American politician Resham Saujani is at the 20th spot.   Fortune has praised Kejriwal for his attempt to make Delhi free from pollution and corruption. It has even mentioned the odd-even scheme of traffic implemented by Kejriwal as a success. The list released by Fortune has certainly included who’s who on the the stage of world. It was topped by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and was followed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel (2), Myanmar’s fighter Aung San Suu Kyi (3), Pope Francis (4) and Apple CEO Tim Cook (5). The Bangladesh Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is another notable person to be mentioned from the list. She is placed at no.10.

    Playboy magazine for sale

It might be the age of internet where everything is available for everyone. But Playboy magazine has been a source of adult entertainment before the advent of Internet. Now, everything seems to be a past for this infamous adult magazine. It’s been now said in whispers that the magazine is ready to be sold. Previously, the magazine has stopped publishing nude poses, after it was took over by Rizvi Traverse Management.   But, that didn’t do any good for its sales. They were dropped from about 5.6 million in 1975 to around 800,000 in the previous year. Mr Hefner has founded Playboy in 1953 with actress Marilyn Monroe as its debut model. Ever since, many Hollywood celebrities loved to be on the cover page of the magazine. Madonna, Sharan stone, Kim Kardashian, Ursula Andress and Lindsay Lohan.... were to name a few of the long lasting list. It is now being calculated that the magazine might be sold for around 500 million dollars. That's a pretty hot deal.

Control websites that promote dowry: HC

The Bombay High court on Wednesday has taken strong objection to dowry proposals online. Though the Dowry Prohibition Act was enacted in 1961, various matrimonial websites were openly allowing their customers to mention their dowry requirement. The Bombay High court has asked respective state governments to look into the matter seriously. The court has made these remarks while hearing a public interest litigation filed by advocate Priscila Samuel. Later, Samuel has also brought to the notice of the court, of advertisements appearing in matrimonial columns, hinting about their intention to seek dowry. On this the Judges has directed respective governments to take legal action on such publications. Under section 4A of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, a minimum imprisonment of six months for printing, publishing or circulating any such advertisement can be awarded to the violators. So, from here by, we won’t see any demand for dowry... online or on paper!

I hated India.. I am a bad person- David Headley

The Let terrorist David Headley is making startling revelations in the Mumbai court. Headley has been apprearing before the court online from an unknown location in US. Today, he gave an insight about his thought process too! He said that he hated India and Indians since his childhood. The 1971 Indo-pak war seems to have made a deep impact on Headley. "My school was bombed on December 7, 1971. My school was destroyed and the people who worked there died," Headley claimed. He wanted to cause maximum damage to India since then, for which he chose the extreme path. But he wasn’t happy with his character either- `I am a very bad person, I have admitted it, I have pleaded guilty, and Let me admit it again, ’ said Headley to the court in pure Hindi. Well! What next!

    Nigerians assaulted for protesting Holi

The celebrations of Holi might often turn into a clash. Someone might splash colour on you, and you may get into an argument. But when such altercations are combined with racism, result can be `deadly’. That’s what has happened at the heart of our nation. Two Nigerians- Isaac and Abdul, were brutally assaulted with bats, after one of them scolded a child for hurling a water filled balloon on him. Apparently a group of around 10 people has gathered at the house of Isaac, to avenge the altercation. Abdul who was present in the house at the time too has to face the heat of the mob, though he was in no way connected with the incident. Isaac claims that the police have not shown any interest in registering his complaint. A case was registered only after the senior police officials intervened in it. It’s alarming that the racist Incidents such as these, were incurring in huge numbers across the nation. Holi for these people is certainly not a festival of ‘COLOUR’.

The room of Bhagat Singh opened

It was the room where Bhagat Singh was held in custody for a day during his court trail. The court has of course delivered a judgement that hanged him on 23rd march 1931. This room was later handed over to the Delhi University in 1933, which has maintained its sanctity. Till recently, the University has not allowed even the public to have peek into this historical place. But the present VC Yogesh Tyagi took an initiative to open it for the public. Yesterday on the eve of Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom, the university has invited 100 school students from five schools for the first guided tour of the resource materials in the room. This room consisted of  a cot used by Bhagat Singh and letters handwritten by him. The decision of VC has come at a time when Kanhaiya Kumar was being compared to Bhagat Singh. Now it for the public has to decide the validity of comparison.

New Zealand’s flag to be changed!

Have you ever heard about the flag of a nation being changed? Here it is! A referendum is being held in New Zealand to decide a change in its flag. The present flag represents New Zealand as a British colony and that’s the reason many want to change it. A new flag was designed to be an alternative for the old one. This new flag consists of a Silver fern, along with four stars with blue colour in background. These four stars were known to represent the Southern Cross constellation. And the silver fern resembles a fern tree that’s popular in New Zealand. But, where there is a change, there would certainly be a controversy! It seems that many people in New Zealand were not interested in the flag change. Most of the opinion polls show that this referendum might end in favour of old flag. Many New Zealanders were not just opposing the change, but few think that the new design is not good. Many criticised that the design is much worse than that of a towel. Undeterred by the public rage, Prime Minister John Key went forward to conduct the referendum that’s worth just 17 million dollars.

Nation is on high alert during Holi

A multi state alert was issued in the country, as the security agencies warned of terrorist attacks. According to the intelligence sources, an ex Pakistani soldier named Mohammad Khurshid Alam has entered the Indian border to create havoc. What’s troubling the security agencies is the fact that Khurshid Alam is not alone. He has brought along with him, 6 hard core terrorists into the country. Interestingly, these people were able to cross the border at Pathankot, where the security is thought to be at its best, after the terrorist attack on Pathankot Airbase. Thought the intelligence has warned the states of Punjab, Assam and Delhi to remain attentive, they fear that the group might target hotels and hospitals in Delhi. May this holi not be coloured with blood!

All you should know about India- Bangladesh match

India and Bangladesh would lock their horns in a do or die match this night. Being played in the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bangalore. Here are a few facts about the conflict.. - Unlike the Indo-Pak match, this match can no way be obstructed by rain. It’s a bright sunny day till now, and might remain hot forever. - The pitch is known to be favourable for spinners. So Aswin would certainly be happy to perform and so does the part time bowlers like Suresh Raina. - Bangladesh speedsters Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny, probably the best bowlers of the side, won’t be playing today. They were suspended for their faulty bowling action and would take some time to prove innocence. - India and Bangladesh have played four T-20 matches head to head. All those four were won by the Men in blue! - The previous encounter between these teams is quite interesting. India has defeated Bangladesh by 8 huge wickets on their home ground of Dhaka. We were speaking about the Asia cup 2016 final that was held earlier this month. Finally, records might be in favour of India. But, records are meant to be broken. So let’s sit tight till they were held.

    Shahid Afridi amid fresh controversy

Pakistan T-20 caption Shahid Afridi seems to be loving back to back controversies. At the first case, his statement of being loved in India better than in Pakistan has backfired. Lot of senior Pakistani cricketers raised their hands to give back some counters. That might be the time when Shahid Afridi was certainly loved in India. But the next time he made some comments, they were against India. Before the match in Mohali with New Zealand, Shahid Afridi stated that the viewers in the stadium cheering for him are from Kashmir. He might be mentioning the fact that some people in Kashmir do favour Pakistan, rather than India. But these words would of course hurt India. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur has today criticised Shahid for his remarks. "To give a statement like that is not politically correct. A player should stay away from all this. That's the reason why he was criticised in Pakistan," Thakur said referring to successive controversies led by Shahid. Who can deny the judgement of Anurag!
