  • MBBS student who threw dog from Terrace held

    A video clip of a man posing for camera while he was throwing a hapless dog from terrace of a building in Chennai has gone viral as everyone condemned the gruesome act by the youth. Right after that a media hunt started for the culprits. While the Animal welfare activists have filed an FIR against the student and the police also are on a look out for them. it has come to light that the person in the video is a final year Medical student, reportedly identified as Gowtham Sudarshan, who is seen dropping the dog from the terrace of a three-storeyed structure. It is, however, not known if the animal is dead or alive. The police confirmed that an FIR was registered against Gowtham Sudarshan and Ashish Pal under provisions of IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act adding they are on the look out for the accused.

    NASA's spacecraft Juno enters Jupiter's orbit

      NASA spacecraft reached Jupiter on today after a five-year voyage to begin exploring the largest planet in our solar system. Juno was launched nearly five years ago on a mission to study Jupiter's composition and evolution. It's the first spacecraft to orbit Jupiter since Galileo. Galileo was deliberately crashed into Jupiter on September 21, 2003, to protect one of its discoveries a possible ocean beneath Jupiter's moon Europa.   The spacecraft's camera and other instruments were switched off for arrival, so there won't be any pictures at the moment it reaches its destination. Hours before the encounter, NASA released a series of images taken last week during the approach, showing Jupiter glowing yellow in the distance, circled by its four inner moons. Scientists have promised close-up views of the planet when Juno skims the cloud tops during the 20-month, $1.1 billion mission.

    Avg age of Modi Govt is 57,with doctors;Phds,Graduates

      The cabinet expansion which took place today allowed the media to do a lot of number crunching. There reports that Modi was looking to have a younger cabinet and that he did not want to get on board anyone who is above 75years was proved to be true today. Among the newly inducted ministers, the youngest is Anupriya Patel from Uttar Pradesh, who is just 35-years-old and CR Chaudhary is the oldest at 68-years-old. 10 of the new ministers are in their 60's, four in their 50's, another four in their 40's, and only one minister in her 30's.   The average age of the new group is 57 years. This means that the PM has strictly implemented the of not inducting those above the age of 70 into the cabinet. 4 of the ministers are Dalits, three are tribals and three are OBCs. There are also on each from the Brahmin and Jat communities. SS Ahluwalia is a Sikh and MJ Akbar is a Muslim. Out of the 19, two are women ministers. There are five advocates among the new faces. Except for three who are undergraduates, all the others are either graduates or post graduates. There are also ministers who have done there MBBS and also Phds and MBAs.

    Hyd: Businessman brutally kills his Congolese wife

      Rupesh, a businessman living in Madhapur, Hyderabad, committed a horrific crime. He killed his wife, cut her body into pieces, stuffed it in a suitcase and tried to burn it. All this while his 5 year old daughter was waiting in the car. But while committing this horrific crime he was caught red-handed by locals at Shamshabad on the city outskirts on Monday. Rupesh admitted to the fact that he had frequent quarrels with his Congolese wife, Cynthia  After killing her, he cut her body into pieces and stuffed them in a suitcase.   Later, along with his 5-year-old daughter, he drove to Madanapalli hamlet in Shamshabad police limits, carrying the suitcase. While on the way back his car got stuck in the mud on the road, and when he asked locals to help him out, they noticed blood stains on the car and immediately alerted the police. It is being reported that the both fell in love when they met for the first time in Congo eight years ago and have then married and moved to India ever since. They have a daughter named Sania.

    Boost for Modi Govt with 19 new Ministers

      The much awaited Cabinet reshuffle and expansion has been done today, with 19 ministers taking oath at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Minister of state for environment and forests Prakash Javadekar was the only person to have got a promotion in ranks to be a cabinet minister, the rest all took oath as ministers of state. The swearing in today took the total number of members in Team Modi to 78. With 78 ministers, PM's Cabinet now bigger than Manmohan's Cabinet.   There seemed to be mixed reactions to promoting just one minister, while rest other who were deserving enough were left behind. Top performing men like minister of state with independent charge for power Piyush Goyal and minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan were denied promotion, which came a shock as media reports suggested that they could be promoted as well. In yet another development, Shiv Sena's demands for a cabinet berth were not answered by the Government.

    Indian captains meet Coaches Kumble and Dravid

      Indian limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Test captain Virat Kohli had a lengthy meeting with newly appointed chief coach Anil Kumble and 'A' team coach Rahul Dravid to prepare and discuss the roadmap for Indian cricket for the upcoming 2016-17 season. A host of topics were discussed in deatil, ranging from domestic cricket set up, India A tours, injury management and workload of the players and strengthening the bench strength of Indian cricket.   Chief national selector Sandeep Patil, GM (Cricket Operations) MV Sridhar, chairman of junior selection committee Venkatesh Prasad, physio Andrew Leipus, NCA batting coach WV Raman, spin bowling coach Narendra Hirwani also attended the meeting. With Kumble as the chief coach there would be a lot of emphasis on the bowling department of the team.

    World's largest telescope installed in China!

      China has successfully finished the installation of the world's largest radio telescope as the last of 4,450 panels was fitted into the centre of the big dish.Telescope in mountainous Guizhou Province has a diameter of 1,640 feet and is roughly the size of 30 football fields. Once fully working, the Five Hundred Metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, also known as FAST, aims to search for signals to understand the origin of the universe and also boost the global hunt for extra-terrestrial life.   It is also due to be used to study the Milky Way in more detail and look for the first shining stars. The 'Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope' cost a whopping 1.2 billion yuan (£135 million) to build. In the first two or three years after its completion, the telescope will undergo further adjustment, and during that period Chinese scientists will use it for early-stage research and after that, it will be open to scientists worldwide.

    Sania entered her wedding hall from kitchen area

      Sania Mirza is the most celebrated Tennis star of India and she is the favorite child of Hyderabad. The 29-year-old sport star who recently penned her autobiography- 'Ace Against Odds' wrote some interesting events that took place during her most publicized wedding in the new book. She wrote, "As I headed for the biggest occasion of my life, dressed in my bridal finery, my personal car was chased by an army of media men in vans, all the way from my house to Hotel Taj Krishna, where the guests had already gathered for the nikah.   To avoid any untoward incident, I was made to enter from the service door at the back of the hotel and through the kitchen area. This was probably another first in the annals of wedding history!". The autobiography which has documented her journey from a talented teenager to become the World No.1 women's doubles player will be released on July 4 by publishers Harper Collins.

    3 MPs who cycle to Parliament may be promoted

      Three MPs who are famous for their choice of 'Cycle' as a mode of transport to the Parliament may be getting a promotion when the Prime Minister reshuffles the cabinet on Tuesday. Arjun Ram Meghwal, the BJP parliamentarian from Bikaner in Rajasthan, was the first MP to use a cycle to get to work when Delhi implemented its famous odd-even traffic scheme.   The other cyclist is Mansukhbhai Mandavia, who is a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. While the third one on the list is Anil Dave, a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh. He has actively campaigned for cleaning and saving the Narmada River. The three politicians have earned a reputation as eco-friendly, choosing to cycle to parliament, instead of using private cars.

    Cancer patient gets 3D printed Jaw

      The 3D printing phenomenon has revolutionized the way of your life by a very large extent. We have already heard of 3D printed cars, and houses and lot many other objects. But this news is quite unique and first of its kind. Surgeons have used 3D printing techniques to manufacture an artificial jaw for a cancer survivor. Mr Anderson’s cancer was diagnosed in 1998 when a lump was discovered on his tongue. He underwent radical surgery and radiation therapy.   Doctors removed chest muscles to try to recreate the lower half of his face without success. His team used 3D printing to create a mould of Mr Anderson’s face, which was used to make the final version. Artists then painted the new artificial lightweight jaw, painstakingly matching it with Mr Anderson’s skin colour.

      According to media reports, US President Barack Obama is a nocturnal person, and work majorly at night with just five hours of sleep through his hectic 24 hour schedule. And in his relentless schedule all that keeps him awake during his work is not pipping hot tea or coffee, but just a handful of salted Almonds, to be precise, 7 of them which keeps him going.   Obama calls himself a "night guy," and as president, he has come to consider the long, solitary hours after dark as essential as his time in the Oval Office. Almost every night that he is in the White House, Obama has dinner at 6:30pm with his wife and daughters and then withdraws to the Treaty Room, his private office down the hall from his bedroom on the second floor of the White House residence. According to his close sources he spends 4 to 5 hours largely by himself.

    Kejriwal: AAP will win 100/117 seats in Punjab

      Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is slowly trying to spread his party's roots in various parts of India in the upcoming polls is now campaigning in Punjab said that his party would beat all the other parties in fray and will win 100 out of 117 assembly seats in Punjab polls. Addressing a public meeting in Amritsar during his three-day tour to the state, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday released a youth manifesto in the state and said, "Seven months are left for Punjab polls and the Badals have started playing a dirty game. It becomes necessary to tell people how low the SAD-BJP government can stoop. All in Punjab know that AAP is going to win (polls) in the state and win with a good majority. The Badal government is on its way out".

    Time and date set for Union Cabinet reshuffle

      The date and time for the much awaited and talked about cabinet reshuffle is finally set. Principal spokesperson of the government Frank Noronha tweeted that "cabinet expansion" will take place tomorrow at 11 AM. The reshuffle exercise could reflect the BJP's political priorities in UP where elections are due early next year.   According to party sources, PM Modi is all set to reshuffle and expand his council of ministers on Tuesday and may induct nine new faces in what will be the first such major exercise since he assumed office in May 2014. And some ministers can also be dropped but it is being said that no top ministers would be subjected to any change with their ministries. The vacancy in the Council of Ministers after sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal became the chief minister of Assam will be filled.

    PM meets athletes going for Rio Olympics

      With 32 days left before the Olympics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Rio-bound athletes at Manekshaw Centre in Delhi to boost their confidence. One of the greatest sportsperson of our times, Abhinav Bindra tweeted about this saying,''For the first time ever there is a send off by the @PMOIndia@narendramodi for the Olympic Team . What a great gesture ,#respect''.   With 102 athletes already on the list and more names likely to be added, this will be the biggest Indian Olympic contingent in history to represent at the Summer Games. In London, the number was 83 which was the previous highest. Though this was said to be an informal meeting with the athletes there were other dignitaries also who attended it along with the Prime Minister, they were Sports Minister Jitendra Singh, Sports Secretary Rajiv Yadav, Indian Olympic Association President N Ramachandran, Hockey India President Narinder Batra among others.

    Infosys employee killer reveals shocking details

      P Ramkumar, who attempted to end his life when he was rounded up by the Chennai police and picked up from his house in Meenakshipuram village in Sengottai in a late night operation has revealed some shocking facts about what led to the gruesome murder of Infosys employee Swathi by him. According to the police, Ramkumar said that he proposed to her in public several times. But Swathi ignored them and verbally abused him on his look, which Ramkumar couldn't bear. This angered him and is said to be the vital reason which has led to him murdering her in broad day light.   Ramkumar, has slit his throat when police traced his location and barged into the place he was staying to arrest him. Doctors now say that he is out of danger and that he is able to speak now. Police sources said that the victim knew the accused and also that they are friends with each other on social networking sites and also had each other's phone numbers as well. But they said, though she was a friend on the social networking site, she did not encourage him and did not respond to his comments. Ramkumar is said to have tracked her activities and kept stalking her on Facebook and a later moved to a house closer to hers. He is said to have come to Chennai to become an actor in Tamil Film Industry.

    RBI's new chief will be announced this month

      There was much speculations about who is going to succeed Raghuram Rajan as the next Reserve Bank of India Governor. But it seems like the Government has almost finalised on the candidate for the top post. According to reports, if all goes well an announcement may come by July 15. A week ago there were almost half a dozen names including SBI Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, RBI Deputy Governor Urijit Patel, Economist at International Monetary Fund Subir Gokarn (former deputy governor RBI), Kaushik Basu Chief Economics World Bank and even the Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das. But if reports are to go by, the choice has narrowed down as the government is now looking at two names. Subir Gokarn and Rakesh Mohan, Economist with IMF and former Deputy Governor of RBI. The advantage with both is their familiarity with what the RBI operates and the global economy.

    Man sues Apple for stealing his iPhone idea

      Thomas Ross from Florida, is suing Apple claiming Apple stole his idea when it released the iPhone nine years ago. He is demanding damages of no less than $11 billion and another $10 billion in restitution, as well as at least 1.5 percent of Apple's worldwide gross sales going forward "as a reasonable royalty". Included in the lawsuit filing are drawings of Ross’s original patent. Ross claims Apple’s own reproductions “are substantially the same as his technical drawings of the ERD, and that Apple's three-dimensional derivative devices like iPhone, iPod, iPad, embody the non-functional aesthetic look and feel”. There is no official statement from the iPhone manufacturer as yet.

    Flying Tejas I felt on top of the world:Pilot

      Group Captain Madhav Rangachari was on top of the world, and quite literally. He was flying the indigenous Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) after its induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday. After a 10-minute solo sortie under a cloudy sky and windy conditions he spoke to the reporters and said, "I felt like being on top of the world when flying the Tejas fighter.   It's an honour and a privilege to pilot the inaugural flight of the LCA soon after its induction", he added, "I could do only horizontal profile and not vertical due to the cloudy sky. It's an excellent aircraft and generation ahead of other fighters in the world. Being the only of its kind (light combat), it's not comparable with other military aircraft".  Rangachari is the commanding officer of the IAF's 45 squadron nicknamed Flying Daggers. With 3,000 flying hours experience, he was part of the Mirage 2000 squadron before flying the multirole Tejas since a year.

    IITs now in search of formula for happiness

      Who onearth doesn't want to be happy and this might be the reason behind IIT-Kharagpur setting up a lab in search of formula for happiness, positivity. In an attempt to promote “happiness and positive psychology” among its students a Rekhi Centre for Science of Happiness’ has been set up and it is named after its alumnus Satinder Singh Rekhi. According to sources, it will cost $1 million to set up the centre over a period of three years. Space for the centre has been allotted and construction will start soon.   While speaking about it, Satinder Singh Rekhi said, "All human beings have one common goal — to live a happy and meaningful life. We live in a stressful world with a web of complexities where we are pushed to our emotional limits. The upcoming centre is a unique initiative that will research and help develop an ecosystem of happy and successful KGPians who become effective leaders, innovative engineers, caring employers, smarter and creative employees".
