Boost for Modi Govt with 19 new Ministers

The much awaited Cabinet reshuffle and expansion has been done today, with 19 ministers taking oath at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Minister of state for environment and forests Prakash Javadekar was the only person to have got a promotion in ranks to be a cabinet minister, the rest all took oath as ministers of state. The swearing in today took the total number of members in Team Modi to 78. With 78 ministers, PM's Cabinet now bigger than Manmohan's Cabinet.
There seemed to be mixed reactions to promoting just one minister, while rest other who were deserving enough were left behind. Top performing men like minister of state with independent charge for power Piyush Goyal and minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan were denied promotion, which came a shock as media reports suggested that they could be promoted as well. In yet another development, Shiv Sena's demands for a cabinet berth were not answered by the Government.
