The 3D printing phenomenon has revolutionized the way of your life by a very large extent. We have already heard of 3D printed cars, and houses and lot many other objects. But this news is quite unique and first of its kind. Surgeons have used 3D printing techniques to manufacture an artificial jaw for a cancer survivor. Mr Anderson’s cancer was diagnosed in 1998 when a lump was discovered on his tongue. He underwent radical surgery and radiation therapy.
Doctors removed chest muscles to try to recreate the lower half of his face without success. His team used 3D printing to create a mould of Mr Anderson’s face, which was used to make the final version. Artists then painted the new artificial lightweight jaw, painstakingly matching it with Mr Anderson’s skin colour.
