  • 1.8 million Women lose jobs due to new rules

The latest law regarding the maternity leave might have been refreshing for the feminists. The law ensures that women working in the organized sector would get up to 26 weeks of paid maternity leave. It previously used to be 12 weeks. But this law seem to have a negative effect on the entrepreneurs who fear loss due to the rule. They might not be interested in employing women due to this regulation.  A survey made by TeamLease Services Ltd. has estimated that 1.1 million to 1.8 million women might lose their jobs across 10 sectors in the financial year to March 2019 because of the law. The women work force in the country is already shrinking due to security and financial reasons. It has come down to 24 percent from 36 percent within a decade. Now with the latest statistics, government seem to have a greater responsibility in encouraging women to join the work force.

    Modi more cruel than Aurangzeb

Speaking at the 43rd anniversary of Emergency Modi has unleashed severe attack against congress party and his rule. Congress was quick to give a reply to Modi’s remark that congress has not changed since emergency. Congress media in-charge Randeep Surjewala has commented that “we are living under undeclared emergency for the past 49 months.” He further attacked Modi for diverting the attention of the nation towards past instead of looking into future- “Will talking about the Emergency get farmers the right price for their crops, or bridge the communal divide, or reduce crimes against women, or end atrocities against Dalits? Can blaming Indira Gandhi alone help in correcting the course of our economy,” asked Mr. Surjewala. He further commented that Modi is crueller than Aurangazeb. Well let’s wait for the BJP’s reply now!

India - Most dangerous country for women!

A poll of global experts has branded India to be the most dangerous place for women in the world. Even Afghanistan and Syria stood behind India in the list. The survey has been done by Thomson Reuters Foundation by consulting about 550 experts on women's issues. The result of the poll has become an embarrassment to India as it boasts of taking strict measures for women safety. However even the government show that the crime against women raised by 83 percent between 2007 and 2016. However The National Commission for Women has rejected the survey yesterday. “For a nation as big as India, the sample size of the survey is not representative of the country as a whole,” said the commission’s chairperson Rekha Sharma.

Severe threat to Modi – No more road shows!

The security threat to Modi was declared as all time high by the Home ministry. Keeping in mind of his upcoming tours to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab- the Home Ministry has issued several guidelines to respective states regarding his safety. No one is to be allowed to come closer to Modi and even the ministers who wish to meet him should go through thorough security check. The prime minister was also advised to cut down his road shows. Five priests sexually abusing a married woman

In a bizarre incident, five priests from Kerala are facing charges for sexually abusing and then blackmailing married women over years. All the priests belong to Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It all began with the woman having an affair with one of them during her teenage. However, it was used as a pretext for the priest and his colleagues to blackmail her and abuse her over years. The women shared the harassment when she could no more bear the assault. Acting on the complaint of her husband, the church has ordered an inquiry into the affair. Though the priests were not suspended, they were ordered to stay away from priestly rituals. However, one of the church officials said that the complaint did not deserve a police probe. “In the complaint, the husband said one priest had abused his wife 380 times. Then, what they were doing until the figure reached 380. That is why the husband was not keen to move a police complaint,” he said. Well! Well! that seems to be protective tone.

However, Arun who was also a legendary journalist has cautioned to shed the baggage of history and then look for solutions to the Kashmir issue.
