Botsa Satyanarayana

Botsa Satyanarayana all set to join YSRCP?

Former PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana recently said that the media reports and speculations about switching to YSR Congress party hurt him very much. He said there is no such proposal and will continue in the Congress party. But, those reports and speculations proved to be genuine with the latest development taken place today.   YSR Congress party general secretary Vijayasai Reddy, MPs YV Subba Reddy, senior leaders Jyothula Nehru and some others went to his residence and invited him to join YSR Congress party, for which he is said to be positively responded. He is said to be sought some time to think over about their invitation and offer. He is expected to make some announcement very soon, as he can’t afford to leave this golden opportunity.   But, they offered him Visakha district party in-charge post, instead of his own district Vizianagaram, probably because of strong resistance from the district leaders. YSR Congress party may believe that it would be an amicable solution to this problem. Even though, Botsa Satyanarayana is made in-charge of Visakha district, he can’t afford to lose his grip on his native Vizianagaram district. Obviously, then the district leaders may be forced to leave the party.   Earlier, during Dadi Veerabhadra Rao’s admission into the party, Jagan Mohan Reddy ignored his most trusted leader Konathala Ramakrishna Rao and his followers’ objections. They left the party after facing ill treatment from him. Now, the same situation may repeats in the Vizianagaram district also.

Delhi High Court

Kejriwal to start fresh fight as SC stayed HC orders

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has to start a fresh fight against the Lt. Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung and the NDA government as the Supreme Court stayed today the orders issued by the single judge of Delhi High Court on who will have control over the bureaucrats of the Delhi government.   The Delhi High Court in its judgment given on May 25th has termed the notification issued by the Home Ministry as an attempt for clipping powers of the AAP government.   As per the notification, the LG will have jurisdiction over matters connected with services, public order, police and land and he may consult with the Chief Minister whenever he thinks necessary on issues of services using his own discretion.   Responding to the Delhi government’ petition, The High Court asks the LG to coordinate with the AAP government. It also confirmed the powers of the AAP government on the bureaucrats. The High Court ordered the Anti-Corruption Bureau Chief to directly report to the Chief Minister and not to the LG.   Then the Centre has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the HC verdict on this matter. A vacation bench of the apex court comprising Justices A K Sikri and U U Lalit has issued stay orders today on the High Court’s ruling on Centre’s notification.   The bench stated that the High Court would hear the fresh petition filed by the Delhi government challenging the May 21 notification of the Centre independently and without being influenced by the observations made by the single judge in his verdict. The apex court bench issued notice and sought response within six weeks from the Delhi government. It also leaves the choice to the Delhi government to decide whether to settle this matter in the High Court or wants to approach it.

TRS happy with HC verdict on defectors

The High Court has given its judgment on the seven MLAs, who defected into TRS party, but still continuing as Congress and TDP MLAs. Responding to a petition filed by the TDP, the High Court has allowed the seven MLAs to use their voting right in the MLCs elections to be held on June 1st in the Telangana state. The court said that it doesn't wants to interfere in the elections process at this moment.   Therefore, MLAs Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy of TDP and the four MLAs of the Congress party, who are serving the TRS now, can cast their votes to the 5th MLC candidate fielded by the TRS party.   Although, the court ruling may makes no difference for TDP and Congress parties as both parties are not depended on them, it makes a large difference for the TRS party as it badly needs their votes for its 5th candidate’s victory. So far, TRS was able to garner support from seven MLAs of MIM party and one MLA belongs to the YSR Congress party, with which the total number of MLAs supporting its 5th candidate would be 11, including its 3 MLAs.   Still it needs 7 MLAs support to pass its 5th candidate in the MLC elections as minimum 18 MLAs are needed for passing each MLC. Even if the CPI and CPM parties that have one MLA each and the one nominated Anglo Indian MLA prepared to vote for the TRS candidate, even then also it needs 4 MLAs to pass its 5th candidate. TRS is very sure to get 4 MLAs support, but no one knows from which party it will get.
