Goa Congress General Secretary Sankalp Amonkar has written a letter to the Guinness institute to this extent. “We are overwhelmed and extremely happy to suggest the name of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has set the world record. He has correctly used the resources of India and had set the record of making 41 trips to 52 countries in his tenure of four years. He has already incurred an expenditure of ₹355 crore,” said Mr. Amonkar. However its doubtful whether the Guinness institute would accept the application as it would result in political mudslinging.

It’s legal to have same sex partner

The supreme court in a crucial judgement has declared that people can live with a partner of same sex. This would dilute section 377 of our constitution which declares such relations as illegal. The court has opined that neither the State nor one’s parents should influence an adult’s choice of a partner. It accepted that homo sexuality has something to do with the genes. However it did not clarify on the issues such as validity of same sex marriage, legal inheritance problems etc. This is said to be major break through for the LGBT community giving them a legal right to live in a relation of their choice. It’s interesting to note that it was the centre that supported the case and filed a review petition on section 377.

    Whatsapp to highlight forwarded messages

Recently...many innocents were killed on the pretext of child lifters! Fingers were pointed out at Whatsapp for spreading such rumours. Even the Indian government had to step in to ask whatsapp for some restraining measures. Heeding to such pleas... Whatsapp has now installed a feature to check the forwarded messages. From here on, Whatsapp will label such messages as `forwarded’. “This could serve as an important signal for recipients to think twice before forwarding messages because it lets a user know if content they received was written by the person they know or a potential rumour from someone else,” said Whatsapp in its statement. Hope that this would enable people to gather some time to check whether the message was original or fake.

The Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has labelled the tweet as “prima facie in contravention of the extant provision of the All India Service (Conduct Rules) 1968, All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.” But Shah doesn’t seem to step back on his comments. He has given repartee with another tweet- “Love letter from my boss for my sarcastic tweet against rape-culture in South Asia. The Irony here is that service rules with a colonial spirit are invoked in a democratic India to stifle the freedom of conscience. I’m sharing this to underscore the need for a rule change.”
