Sarabjit Singh is ‘Brain Dead’

The Indian national Sarbjit Singh, who was assaulted in Pakistan jail by inmates and shifted to Jinnah Hospital five days ago is said to be in brain dead position. Although, Pakistan government has not made any official announcement in this regard, the doctors attending him have told this to his family members, who recently visited him. The doctors have asked their permission to remove him from ventilator. However, Pak government has turned down Sarbajit’s family members and Indian government’s appeals to allow for his shifting to India. Hence, they are returning home on Wednesday, asking both the governments to decide his fate.

Raj Kumar Verka, Vice-chairman of national commission for the scheduled casts, who played key role in securing visas to Sarbajit’s family members, has sharply criticized the Pakistan government and the doctors attending him for keeping them in dark until the family members reaches there. He asked “When they already knew that he is brain dead, then why didn’t they convey the same to us and expatriate him to India.” He flays Pak government for being very inhuman. He demands it to punish the murderers of Sarbjit Singh.
