KCR finds alternative irrigation sources Telangana Chief Minister said that his government is going to spend Rs.70, 000 for restoring the 40-45, 000 small and big irrigation tanks spreads all over the state that ensures proper water supply to agriculture. He said all the previous governments ruled the state have neglected these age old irrigation tanks that way back to Kakateeya and Asaf Jahi period. These irrigation tanks are used to support around 20-25 lakh acres across the state.
He said that his government has decided to revive all those chain-link irrigation tanks and re-charge them to ensure proper drinking and irrigation water supplies to all the villages in the state. Irrigation Minister T Harish rao asked the concerned officials to take-up this task on war footing mode following CM KCR’s directions.
Indeed this can be considered as a very wise decision, in context of acute power shortage. Telangana farmers mainly depend on bore-wells for their agricultural needs. However, all their efforts for cultivation goes blink with acute power shortage. They will be blessed if CM KCR’s efforts to revive and re-charge these irrigation tanks become success.
