Was launching of new party idea dropped?

  The wide publicity in TV Channels for Samaikyandhra has abruptly ends, the way they were started suddenly. Recently, Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal speaking to media has said “Some Samaikyandhra enthusiast might have placed those ads in the TV channels to stress the need of keeping the state united. They don’t indicate that either CM Kiran Kumar Reddy or I are launching a new political party. Our intention is to stress the party for Samaikyandhra and not floating a new political party.”   “Kiran Kumar Reddy is doing his best. His proposal of passing a resolution rejecting and returning T-Bill is appreciable and a sincere attempt to halt the bifurcation process. If our party revokes its decision even now, people will hug it, otherwise it will be forbidden for two terms at least. It is absurd to say that we are doing all this merely following the directions of our high command. If so, why should we serve a no-trust motion against our own government? We are not fighting for our political interests but to safeguard entire state interests. We are ready to sacrifice our political future for the sake of people,” said Lagadapati.   If Lagadapati says that the publicity is not meant for launching any party then why anyone should take pains for making so much publicity for no reasons dumping crores of rupees. It is just a matter of time for all of them to come out of their shells. Once the T-Bill is returned to President, everyone including Kiran Kumar Reddy and Lagadapati will certainly come out of their shells.

CM Kiran seeks 3 weeks extension for T-Bill

  CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, ho brought both houses to virtual standstill with his sudden move seeking resolution against T-Bill in the house, once again wrote a letter to President Pranab Mukharji seeking three weeks extension for the T-Bill. He writes that extension is necessary because still there are many members left in the house, who need to give their views on the bill. It came to know that five-ten MLAs have signed on the letter.   It is surprising to see him asking for extension on the T-Bill, while wanting to move a resolution for rejecting and returning the bill to Centre. During his length speech in the house he categorically stated that the bill which is in incomplete form and has several flaws and against constitution need to be rejected and returned to Centre immediately. However, he now writes President asking for extension for continuing a debate on the bill! He seems to buy some time to delay the T-Bill at state level so as it will miss the upcoming Parliament sessions.   However, President Pranab, who is awware of his intentions may not grant any extension this time.

Is any member wants debate on T-Bill

  Both houses were adjourned again till tomorrow morning as the members do not allow the speaker to conduct debate on T-bill. Both regional MLAs have brought the house virtually to a standstill position shouting Samaikyandhra and Telangana slogans. Later, Speaker Nadendla Manohar convened BAC meeting to sort out the problems, but there also seems to be no consensus between members over CM’s proposal of moving a resolution against T-bill.   Hence, both houses may not function until the deadline for T-bill is over on January 30th. T-members of both houses seem to be determined not to allow any resolution against T-bill, which may turn a major hurdle in Telangana creation. CM Kiran Kumar Reddy seems to be intentionally generated this heat in both houses following the orders of his high command for returning the bill at the earliest. Although, it appears only T-leaders are opposing a debate or resolution on the T-Bill, all most all the members seem to be reluctant for it, otherwise they wouldn’t bring the house to standstill position.

  After Digvijay, Ghulam Nabi Azad now comes the turn of Mukul Wasnik to issue a conduct certificate to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy.   He said “There is no need to take action against CM Kiran Kumar Reddy as he has never crossed the party lines. He said expressing his opinion against the T-bill can’t be considered as antiparty activity. Every member of the party including Kiran is free to give their opinion on the T-bill. He said no whip has been issued to members of the party of any region. He said once the debate is over on the T-bill in the State Assembly, we will think about how to react on the resolution proposed by him and few others.”   His statement underlines that high command is not feeling any pains with CM Kiran Kumar Reddy arguments made against it and the T-bill in the house. This hints that he may be allowed to continue in his post until bifurcation process is completed and state is divided. Probably, Digvijay Singh has said the same about CM Kiran Kumar Reddy on the day one and Mukul Wasnik is just acknowledging his statement now.

Harikrishna demands for RS seat, but..

  Nandamuri Harikrishna, who few months ago has resigned to his Rajya Sabha seat without the knowledge of his party high command protesting bifurcation of the state, has asked Chandrababu to nominate him to Rajya Sabha again.   Giving his explanation to him, he said in the polit-bureau that he has resigned only for the sake of Samaikyandhra honoring people’s sentiment and following his father late NTR’s ambitions for united Andhra Pradesh. He said that he has never indulged in antiparty activities and never crossed the party line. So, he asked Chandrababu to nominate him to Rajya Sabha again. However, he left the meeting in the middle. Probably, Chandrababu might have refused to nominate him.   According to latest reports, the polit-bureau members have unanimously backed Garikapati Mohan Rao for Rajya Sabha seat. Perhaps, it may very much disappoint Motkupalli Narasimhulu, who is pitching for his nomination. Currently, TDP polit-bureau meeting is continuing and it may end any time after finalizing the other candidate of the party. Nannapaneni Rajakumari is also insisting Chandrababu for her nomination.

Congress announces RS nominees of state

  Congress official representative Janardhan Dwivedhi has announced three names of party candidates nominated for Rajya Sabha. Sitting Rajya Sabha member T.Subbirami Reddy, KVP Ramachandra rao and MA Khan are those three persons, nominated. It appears Congress high command has played a safe game by nominating Reddy and KVP to Rajya Sabha.   It wisely shunted T. Subbirami Reddy back to his seat, who is crossing swords with Vizag sitting MP D.Purandeswari for the last one year. By nominating him, high command not only solved a problem for Purandeswari but also obliged him to garner support for himself, as rebel Seemandhra Congress leaders are also stalling their own candidates. If he can’t, then he can’t even ask for Lok Sabha ticket in future.   By nominating KVP Ramachandra rao as its candidate, high command throws challenge to its rebel leaders to against him if can, as he is also very powerful and fought for Samaikyandhra along with them. They neither deny their support to him nor can drop their rebel candidate. It is a very tricky situation for the rebel leaders.   By nominating only three members, high command seems to left the room open for TRS candidate K. Keshav rao.

Can the T-bill escape from resolution?

  State Assembly was adjourned to Tuesday morning, as it couldn’t function due to havoc by the T-MLAs in the house against CM Kiran’s proposal for rejecting the T-bill. The scene is no different in legislative Counsel and probably they may not change even tomorrow or until the deadline of January 30th, because members from Telangana region may not let the T-bill face any rejection by the house that may reverse the bifurcation process.   If so, the T-bill is likely to be returned to President Pranab without any further debate. However, there are more than 9000 amendments proposed by members of the house against the T-bill may make President Pranab to insist the Centre for its explanations. If he simply sign and forward the T-bill to Centre, certainly it will be challenged in Supreme Court. So, he may not take a chance to be questioned by Supreme Court. If so, there may be some delay in presenting the T-bill in the Parliament.

Bill and draft bill are same: Jairam Ramesh

  Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, who plays key role in processing the T-bill as a member of GoM, speaking to media at New Delhi said “The draft bill is in accordance with constitution and doesn’t violates any clause of it. If, CM Kiran Kumar Reddy says the bill is against constitution, I can’t say anything as I am not a legal expert. However, GoM will hold a meeting once the T-bill is returned to Delhi and discuss about the objections raised by CM and others. CM Kiran’s question about the bill, whether it is a bill or draft bill is also not correct. Bill or draft bill both are same and there is no difference between them. Actually, the bill is sent to state assembly only to collect its views and not for any approval. Earlier, Supreme Court also gave ruling that Centre has rights to divide a state under Article 3 of the constitution. We will definitely present the bill in the upcoming Parliament sessions, Let us see, whether BJP will support the bill or not.”   If, Jairam Ramesh is sure that there is no difference between a draft bill and original bill, then UPA government has to submit the same bill into Parliament without any changes. If so, when the State Assembly itself has found 9000+ flaws in it, then shall Parliament afford to ignore them all and pass it for the sake of Congress party?

Aam Admi expels rebel MLA Binny

  Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, his ministers and party members have staged 30 hours dharna demanding action against some police officers, for which they have drawn severe criticism from all over. Now, when one of AAP MLAs is follows the same path it simply expelled him from party.   Lakshmi Nagar rebel AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny, who is upset for not giving him minister post or at least Lok Sabha ticket by his party has raised red banner against CM Arvind Kejriwal. He alleges that CM is not fulfilling the promises made to people of Delhi. So, he threatens the party to go on for a indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar from 29th January until AAP government succumbs to his demands. So, the disciplinary committee of the AAP, which met yesterday at New Delhi, has announced that it is expelling Vinod Kumar Binny from party for his antiparty activities and tarnishing the party reputation.   With his expulsion the current strength of AAP government in Delhi state Assembly has comes down to 27 and it will be 37 with the support of 8 Congress MLAs and 2 independent MLAs. The magic number to stay afloat is 36. So, Congress and BJP can pull down the AAP government without directly involving by encouraging the two independent MLAs to withdraw their support to AAP.

TRS nominates Keshav rao for RS

  TRS party president K.Chandra Shekar rao has announced K.Keshav rao as party candidate for Rajya Sabha elections. However, TRS has just 17 MLAs and backing of 5 TDP rebel MLAs for him, where as he need 39 MLAs support to win the elections. KCR said he knows very well how to pass him in the elections battle.   However, he did not mention who those 17 MLAs are going to support KK. Since, all the T-Congress MLAs have to vote for their own party candidate, TRS can’t expect any support from them. So, KCR might be relying upon T-TDP or this might be just a game plan to encourage defections in T-TDP, which is badly affected by its stand on bifurcation.   Chandrababu has strongly condemned the T-bill in the house day before and probably going to oppose it during his speech in the house today. If so, it may provoke his T-leaders and may force them for cross voting in favor of TRS candidate K.Keshav rao, expects TRS party.

Chaitanya Raju may be rebel candidate for RS

  Rajya Sabha elections have thrown a big challenge to Congress high command, as its Seemandhra leaders are stalling their candidate against party candidate. Rebel Congress leaders are planning to support MLC Chaitanya Raju as their candidate for Rajya Sabha. He also confirmed the news. He said “I will contest as an independent candidate. I have 52 MLAs support. Seemandhra Congress MLAs will take a final decision in this regard today. However, I am insisting to stall at least two or three candidates, who are for Samaikyandhra.”

Assembly elections as per schedule: EC

  Rubbishing the media reports about postponement of Assembly elections for six months due to bifurcation process, Chief electoral officer of the state Banwarlal said “Elections for state Assembly and Lok Sabha will be held simultaneously as per schedule. We are already preparing for conducting elections. Notifications for elections will be issued on the last week of February or 1st week of March. Once the enrolment process ends on January 25th, EC will be busy with elections preparations. So, we appeal all the people to ensure they have enrolled their names and make corrections if any on the special drive conducted across the state on the eve of National Voters Day on January 25th.   Central election Commission has convened a meeting with all recognized political parties at New Delhi on 4th February to chalk-out the elections schedule. Therefore, it is clear now that whether the state is divided or not, elections for state Assembly will be held simultaneously with Lok Sabha elections.   Hence, the political parties in the state have to hurry or it will be too late to do anything. So far, except Lok Satta, no other parties have officially announced their candidates’ names for either Assembly or Lok Sabha seats. However, TDP and YCP have confirmed tickets to some candidates in some constituencies.

AAP move to regularize contract employees

  Aam Admi party, which is drawing severe criticism for its 30 hours dharna led by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his ministers, has come-up with a remedy to counter it. Arvind Kejriwal has constituted a high level committee to study the legal and administrative aspects for regularizing the contract employees working in various state government departments.   Aam Admi party has promised in its election manifesto that if it is elected to power, it will regularize all the contract employees working in state government departments. So, while fulfilling the election promise made to public, Arvind’s decision will counter the criticism also. At the same time it will again boost his political rating and brings the public support to his government. But, he should realize that his time is running out and he has to prove his mettle before 2014 general elections, otherwise AAP will definitely lose its shine.

Intelligence bureau alerts AP Govt

  According to latest information, Intelligence bureau has issued a high alert notice to AP state government for a possible terror attack in Hyderabad on the eve of Republic Day celebrations on January 26th. IB warns the state government to be very cautious and maintain round the clock vigil in sensitive areas of Hyderabad and other places. According to sources, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is reportedly assisting the Indian Mujahedeen team in this operation code named as ‘Chipkoo Bomb.’ Therefore, IB warns the state government not to ignore its alert message, which may prove to be fatal.

Aam Admi makes self-goal!

  Delhi CM Kejriwal his ministers and AAP leaders have staged 30 hours dharna at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi two days ago demanding disciplinary action against five police officers for failing to do their duties. Kejriwal has called off his dharna only after home ministry asked the two police officials to go on leave until the judicial inquiry is completed. But, the other day a case was filed against him and his leaders for violating the curfew orders and disrupting peace.   A Supreme Court bench comprising justices R M Lodha and Shiva Kirti Singh has summoned Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi and asked him to explain why the police have allowed Kejriwal and his team to stage dharna at Rail Bhavan, despite imposing curfew orders.   The bench also served notices to Centre and to Delhi Government asking to submit their explanation within six weeks on whether constitutional post holder can resort to agitation in violation of law.   Simultaneously another case also slapped against his law minister Somanath Bharathi, who lead a team of AAP workers and conducted raid on an African family around midnight two days before staging dharna. The African woman lodged a complaint with police but they do not bother to file FIR against the minister and his followers. Therefore, she moves the court complaining against the police for their inaction. The court summoned the station house officer and asked him why he fails to react to complaint lodged by the African woman. It also orders him to file FIR against the minister immediately.   Apart from these cases, state women’s panel also initiated a probe into Samanath Bharathi’s controversial action against the African woman. It summoned him to give his explanation but he didn’t turned-up. So, Barkha Singh, who heads the commission, said if he didn’t turned-up before Monday, we will complain about the matter to Lt. Governor. Hence, it appears AAP made a self-goal, while trying to grab people and media focus.

Loksatta release first list for upcoming elections

  Loksatta party debuts with last elections, but its president Jayaprakash Narayan alone won from Kukatpalli constituency. However, Jayaprakash didn’t wind-up his party or merge with any party like Chiranjeevi did. Loksatta has tried to strengthen its party base across the state during last four years. However, it fails to make dent in Telangana and lost the support in Seemandhra because of its dilemma over bifurcation. But, Loksatta didn’t lose its fighting spirits. Today it releases the first list of its 25 candidates contesting for Assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections. On this occasion speaking to media he said, “This time also I will contest from Kukatpalli. Our party will not have any tie-up with any party in the elections. Our politics either at central or state level are dominated by family ruling. Loksatta wants to eliminate dynasties in politics. We are for clean politics. Soon, we will announce the names of other candidates also.”   However, the question is can Loksatta convince the people to vote for it even in the next elections, which would be a battle of life and death for the three major political parties.

Karunanidhi suspends son from party

  DMK party chief Karunanidhi has suspended his son Alagiri from party today for his antiparty stand and activities. Alagiri, the former union minister of UPA-2 government is crossing swords with his brother Stalin, to whom Karunanidhi wants handover the party. Alagiri has openly opposing his leadership of the party and also criticizes him and their father on several occasions.   Recently, he condemned DMK party efforts to have poll alliance with DMDK party led by Kollywood hero Vijayakath. He strongly condemned the party’s decision. He demands his father to convene a party meeting before taking any decision in this regard. Alagiri has strengthens his base in Madurai district and badly wants to be announced as successor of his father. But, he is suspended from party today by none other than his father.

JC offers Volvo Bus for support!

  It is not known whether the show-cause-notice served to JC Diwakar Reddy has been withdrawn or he was excused or kept on hold for a while. But, JC seems to returns to his usual form and gearing up to contest for Rajya Sabha elections.   He said “I am in the race only to make our high command realize how much support we enjoy. I have at least 40 members support. So, I am in the race for Rajya Sabha seat.”   During a casual chitchat with MLAs KTR and Akbaruddeen at Assembly premises today he said that he will give Volvo Bus, if they vote for him. Another Congress MLA Ugra Narasimha Reddy, who is also present around asked him if he is really serious about the offer?” and the reply is Yes.   The matter somehow leaked and when PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana warned that he will disqualify if vote for him, Ugra Narasimha Reddy giving explanation said “It is just a joke. After all, what will I do with Volvo Bus? Maintaining a Volvo is not that easy task.”   Later, JC said Why should I offer Volvo bus to anyone, when I have sufficient number of MLAs supporting my candidature? If at all, I have to offer Volvo bus to my enemies to ensure their support to me but not to my supporters.”   But, all this discussion reveals that to get a MLA support will cost an Volvo Bus or say its equivalent amount anywhere between Rs.80 lakhs to 1 crore. If, so for winning a Rajya Sabha seat one must have at least 40 MLAs support, which means 40 Volvo buses or Rs. 40 crore! If so, what could be the cost of Lok Sabha, MLA and MLC seats and how much returns can be expected for the investment?
