Is KCR expecting Jagan’s support also?

  TRS president KCR has strongly assured his party leaders and even media that his party will get absolute majority and TRS will form the first government. However, this time he didn’t claim CM post to himself instead he said that party will decide whom to make Chief Minister of the state. And surprisingly there was no hue and cry from any of his party leaders. KCR has surprised everyone by extending friendship hand to YCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy during his press meet held yesterday.   Interestingly, Sakshi media owned by Jagan Mohan Reddy has published an interesting statement reported to be made by KCR. It reports that KCR will take CM post only if TRS gets absolute majority, otherwise it will be given to some important leader of his party. Since, KCR and Jagan are friends now, Sakshi report can be considered genuine. So, KCR’s statement reveals that he is not sure about winning absolute majority as boasted in the press meet.   So, he is simultaneously preparing to form a coalition government taking help from others, like MIM, CPI, Independents and even from YCP, in case if TRS fails to get absolute majority.  Jagan is expecting to win minimum 5-7 Assembly seats in Telangana. Since each and every MLA seat is very precisous, KCR might have sent feelers to Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating 'He is not untouchable element.' merely to get YCP support to TRS for forming the government. If seen the way KCR and Jagan maintains good relations until now, no surprise even if Jagan extends his support to KCR in forming the government.

TRS, YCP to join hands with Congress

  Few weeks ago, Congress has announced that it would like to extend support to Third Front to prevent communal BJP and Modi claiming the power at Centre. Then KCR and Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed same views. Yesterday, KCR has come clear about his choices. He said that he would like to support UPA to make Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. If UPA is unable to form government, his next choice would be Third Front but, definitely not BJP led NDA. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s choices are also alike. He prefers to support Third Front if, Congress fails to form government. So, this establishes the secret understanding between Congress, TRS and YCP.   KCR and Jagan Mohan Reddy while strategically maintaining safe distance both have aimed their guns on Congress high command to convince the people that Congress is enemy to them also. Rahul Gandhi, who often preaches lessons on maintaining ethics in politics, also fools the people by criticizing KCR in his elections campaigning. These three leaders of three parties have pretend as enemies only to distract and attract the voters and to prevent them voting to their rivals. Since, elections are over they are getting ready to reunite. The main intention behind their political game is making Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. KCR and Jagan are very much aware that it is very difficult to move along with Narendra Modi, who may handle them with a firm hand.

Former CM Nedurumalli No More

  Former CM of Andhra Pradesh and senior Congress leader, Mr. Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy (80) died at NIMS Hospital today morning. He was ailing with lever disease since a long time. He was born in Vakadu in Nellore district on 20th February, 1935. He entered into politics in 1972 and served in all levels ranging from MLC to Chief Minister of the state (1990-92) during his four decades of political life. He is survived by four sons and wife Mrs. Nedurumalli Rajyalakshmi, who was also a minister in the Andhra Pradesh government in the past.Several leaders of the State including TDP Chief Mr Naidu expressed their condolences to the departed leader.

SK Committee to visit Vizag today

  The five members Shivaram Krishnan Committee constituted to study and recommend the ideal location for building new capital to residuary Andhra Pradesh state will be arriving to Vizag on Friday. The Committee headed by Shivarama Krishnan has team of experts-Jagan Shah, Ravindran, Rathin Roy and Aromar Devi as the members.   First, they will visit Vizag, Rajhamundry, Vijayawada and Guntur cities and study various aspects like availability of lands, transport, infrastructure etc. during their three-day trip that begins today.Then they visit Tirupati, Ongole, Kadapa and Karnool districts for the same purpose. Later, they will hold a review meeting at Hyderabad with state officials, who are assisting them in thier job. Once they submit their report to new government at Centre, it may take the opinion of the state government also before approving the committee recommendations.    

Mamata calls Modi a donkey!

This was Mamata Banarjee, West Bengal CM’s  reaction after, the BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi  who was addressing  three rallies in West Bengal for raising the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators there. The West Bengal CM also attacked Modi at three rallies at minority-dominated Budge Budge, Metiabruz and at Chowrashtra in Behala.  On Modi's charge that she had raised the issue of infiltrators in 2005, Banerjee said "I had raised the issue of bogus ration cards in Bengal." while referring to Narendra Modi’s statement at his rallies at Krishnanagar and Barasat that he would confer citizenship rights on Motuas (a religious sect that has largely come from East Bengal and is settled mostly in North 24-Parganas) Mamata Banerjee called Narendra Modi a big fool and a donkey and should get his facts right.

Balakrishna prefers to sail in two boats

  The actor turned politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, who contested from Hindupur to Assembly has stated that he will not quit his film profession but minimize it one or two films a year depending on the situation. He expressed full confidence of his and party victory in the elections. He reiterates his promise to make himself available in Hindupur and will try to address all the local issues.   He said that he will insist the party to implement all its elections promised made to people during campaigning. He said that his first priority is to resolve the water crisis in the district. If, Balakrishna wants to sail on two boats at a time doing films and politics, he may not justify the people of his constituency in full. So, in case if his TDP wins the elections and if he is given some important portfolio in Chandrababu cabinet, then he has to forget about his film career, if he is really honest to serve the people, otherwise he would be a part time people’s representative.

TDP expects 120/20 seats in Seemandhra

  TDP is expecting a minimum 120 Assembly and 20 MP seats collectively by their NDA alliance candidates in Seemandhra. Chandrababu is quite confident to return to power after a long interval of ten years. The reason for his strong belief is that his party has convinced both rural and urban voters with development and welfare schemes. However, TDP is not that hopeful about making a dent in Kadapa and Nellore districts which are considered to be strong hold places for YCP.   TDP believes that urban population is with it because of several factors like Modi and Pawan influence, alliance with winning BJP party, good relations with the Centre, development and building of new capital etc. It believes so because of its proven track record and its rival’s inexperience and bad track record.   TDP is confident of winning in rural pockets also because of its attractive elections promises like agricultural loan waiving, subsidies, pensions, welfare schemes etc. If, TDP could really win in the decesive rural votes, definitely it will win the elections and come to power.

Babu and Jagan going on Post poll vacation

  Chandrababu, who until now sweating  for his party campaigning, is going abroad today evening along with his family members to take rest. They will return to  Hyderabad on May 13th. Before leaving, he invited Pawan Kalyan to join him for  lunch at his home. YSR party president Jagan Mohan Reddy is also leaving for Dehradun today along with his family members on a leisure trip. He obtained permission from CBI court for going thereand may  return home after a week.

Around 80 per cent polling in Seemandhra Elections

  Election Commissioner Banwar Lal in his address to media said that around 78-80 per cent of polling has been recorded in today elections according to feed back that he received from the polling stations across the state. He said the polling per cent may increase further for 1 or 2 percent. He said that he can give exact figures of the polling per cent, number male and female voters casted their votes after the final report is tabled.   Srikakulam-76 (75 per cent in 2009 elections) Vizianagaram-78 (76 in 2009 elections) Visakhapatnam-73 (73 in 2009 elections) East Godavari-78-79 (77 in 2009 elections) West Godavari- 77-79 (84 in 2009 elections) Krishna-80 (81 per cent in 2009 elections) Guntur-84 (83 in 2009 elections) Prakasham-81-82 (76 in 2009 elections)  Nellore-75 (70 in 2009 elections) Chittoor-75 (72 in 2009 elections) Kadapa-75 (75 in 2009 elections) Karnool-80 (70 in 2009 elections) Anantapur-76 (72 in 2009 elections) Chittoor-80 (76 in 2009 elections) per cent has been recorded.

Lowest no.Voters, Highest polling Station -Anlaythu

With a height of 5,000 meters or nearly about 15,000 feet, and with the lowest number of voters who are less that 70 people, Anlaythu polling station in the picturesque Leh region in Ladakh, became the world's highest polling station in the Indian Elections of 2014 and the World. A team of seven people, including three police personnel and four polling staff and election officers have setup the voting facilities at Anlaythu as per details given by Mr Gulam Ahamed, Deputy Returning Officer of Leh, This polling station comes under the Ladakh constituency and all the arrangements were made with the help of Indian Air Force choppers from Leh. There could be 90 % voter turnout looking at the few voters in that region and it will witness a fight between BJP's Thupstan Chhewang and the Congress's Tsering Samphel who are the main contestants in the Ladakh constituency.

Seemandhra poll turn out 70 %

With the day coming to a close in another two hours and the time for polling which will end at 6:00PM for the Seemandhra’s region, Mr Bhanwar Lal , the Chief Election Commissioner expressed his happiness at the Voter turn out by the people of Seemandhra ,which was by far better than their Telangana counterparts. He had given the district-wise poll percentage and expressed his views that if all goes well it could touch 80 % by the end of the day. At 4:00 PM the poll percentage is given below and Anantapur topped the list this time with 76%. Despite the sporadic violence Voting was on at a brisk pace and people were seen coming out in large numbers braving the heat and unprecedented rain fall in some places to come and vote. The Maoist high risk areas polling session was closed at 4:00 PM and those who are in the Queue in other places might still get an opportunity to vote even after 6:00 PM depending on the number of people. 1. Remembering Rabindranath Tagore

Amidst the  polling fever that has caught the Indian Nation today , May 7th ( 1861) also happens to be Rabindranath Tagore or Gurudev as he was  popularly known as, 154th Birth anniversary. He became the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his literary work titled Gitanjali  and with this he  introduced new prose and verse forms into Bengali literature.  Tagore was a prolific composer too with 2,230 songs to his credit his  songs which are popularly sung under the genre of  Rabindra Sangeeth , which merges fluidly into his literature, most of which—poems or parts of novels, stories, or plays alike were lyricised. TeluguOne pays its Tributes to this National Poet on his 154th Birth Anniversary.

YSRCP large scale violence in Seemandhra Polls

Around 20 people were injured in clashes between activists of rival parties in some districts of Andhra Pradesh during the Seemandhra polls where Six people were injured in Parachur in Prakasam district. Three police vehicles were damaged in an attack by villagers in Devagudi in Jammalamadugu of Kadapa district. A police officer was also injured in the attack.Clashes between activists of the two parties(YSRCP and TDP) were also reported from Anantapur, Chittoor and Guntur districts. The Media also were attacked in several places in Kadapa and an IAS officer’s car was also not spared.It was more of an upper hand by the YSRCP when it came to raising arms and stone pelting by the YSRCP workers on the police in Guntur district rural areas. Police had to resort to lathi charge and also fire tear gas in certain areas where the YSRCP workers were becoming violent. Director General of Police Prasada Rao said polling was peaceful barring minor incidents in some places. Over 100,000 police personnel and 272 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed as part of the security arrangements.

Maoists attack polling center in Visakha area

  Around 5 Maoists including 4 men and one lady ,attacked a polling center (No 68 and No 148) in Palakejidi, Koyyuru mandal in the Visakha Forest area. They destroyed a Commander jeep meant for the polling staff , attacked the polling officials there and took away two EVM machines and burnt them This is a very a remote forest area and it is said that Mr Bhanwar Lal ,Chief Election Commissioner will file a petition to the EC for re election there and the police department will look into the incident there.   Meanwhile he declared  a 63 % percent Voter turnout at 3:30 PM in the Seemandhra region . Guntur is trending on top at 65% and Visakha at the last at 57 %.

Vote, show your inked finger & get discounts

  This was a slogan on a popular FM radio channel. The advertisement had the anchors telling the people to go out and vote and by showing their inked finger they would get fabulous discounts .This novel concept of attracting customers and creating awareness among the voters was made in collaboration with a leading English Daily and popular retail outlet. The customers would be given discount on the products available in the outlet. Lakme Salon has also announced a 50 percent discount on haircuts to encourage women to vote in the north. According to the company the idea came about because of the elections and they materialised it to encourage the masses to vote. A complete contrast to what the politicians are doing by trying to win votes through cash & liquor which are flowing high in the Seemandhra region.

52 % polling recorded till midafternoon in Seemandhra

The official percentage recorded till noon in the Seemandhra region is around 52%.Despite  a few clashes and untoward incidents polling has picked pace in all the districts. The blazing sun doesn’t seem to deter the voters who are coming forward to cast their votes . She could probably be the oldest female voter-89 year old Sarambe who came walking for over 2 kms alone in the hot sun in Anantapur  district to cast her vote. There were a sizable number of senior citizens and handicapped people who also came and voted along with the newly inducted young voters who were seen voting enthusiastically and showingtheir inked fingers. Seemandhra polling is being held for 25 seats along with simultaneous assembly polls for 175 constituencies. The stakes are running high for YS Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress and  N Chandrababu Naidu's TDP which is in alliance with the BJP.It is expected to touch 60 to 75 % by the end of the day.

NDA, TDP will come to power- Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy

  NDA, TDP will come to power, says TDP MP nominee Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy after voting in Ongole.After casting his vote along with his wife Geetha Latha he expressed confidence that the TDP party would win the Seemandhra elections and the NDA would come to power at the center. Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy represents the Ongole constituency of Andhra Pradesh and was a member of the Indian National Congress after he quit the party, post the bifurcation and joined the Telugu Desam Party.

YSRCP and TDP group clashes in Srikakulam & Pulivendula

The Seemandhra elections turned to be feisty with the YSRCP an TDP party workers indulging in stone pelting where many people were injured in the group clashes. In the  Girls High School in Srikakulam, Padmavathi, the ex-municipal councilor started campaigning for the YSRCP, urging the people entering the polling booth to vote for the YSR Congress Party. The TDP activists who opposed this were attacked severely by the YSRCP candidates leading to group clash where many people were hit and injured. Tension prevailed at some polling stations in Anantapur, Chittoor and Guntur districts also  due to minor scuffles  between activists of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In another incident YSRCP, TDP members pelted  stones at each other in a  group clash in S. Cherlopalle in Thondur mandal in Pulivendula region of Kadapa.
