Gary Johnson : Obama will win

Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson said that in his opinion President Barack Obama will defeat Mitt Romney to win a second term. Johnson, who’s on the ballot in 48 states and the District of Columbia, hovers in single digits in the polls. The former two term New Mexico governor declined to single out any state where he expected to do particularly well but said he had no regrets about how he ran his campaign. A CNN Ohio Poll released on 2nd Nov 2012 had supported Obama at 47 percent, Republican nominee Mitt Romney at 44 percent and Johnson at 5 percent. He has raised about $2.3 million, has about $35,000 on hand and is about $227,000 in debt, according to the center for Responsive politics. As for his plans after the election, Johnson indicated he’d return to his active, outdoors oriented lifestyle. At last Gary Johnson’s prediction has come true and Obama Won the election for the second time.

Sachin presented with Order of Australia

Cricket maestro Tendulkar was presented with the Order of Australia by Simon Crean, Minister for Regional Australia, at a felicitation ceremony. Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard had made the announcement on her visit to India last month, making Tendulkar only the third Indian to receive the honor after Mother Teresa and former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee. Simon Crean, who presented the award to Tendulkar, is also the minister for regional development and local government and minister for the arts. On the occasion, Tendulkar chose to share his experience of playing against Australia. Recollecting his maiden tour down under in 1991-92, Tendulkar said that the tour has completely changed him as a cricketer and It was a critical moment in his career. Tendulkar, 39, went on to talk about his meeting with Sir Donald Bradman. Gillard's announcement had attracted criticism from an Australia MP and former opener Matthew Hayden, who felt that the recognition should only be given to the Australians.

Obama cried

US President Barack Obama concluded his last speech of the election campaign Monday night with a tear rolling down his cheek. The crowd noticed it as the incumbent president wiped it off from his eye in front of a huge crowd in Iowa state. Seemingly swept up in the significance of the event in Des Moines, the usually stoic president appeared to weep from his left eye as he made his last plea to voters on the last night of campaigning. Obama was joined on stage by First Lady Michelle, who hugged her husband and they happily clasped hands as they strode off stage. The late night rally in Iowa was the final stop on the drawn out re-election campaign, and Obama capped off the last 24 hours with visits to Wisconsin, Ohio and Iowa.

BJP divided over Gadkari

BJP is divided on party President Nitin Gadkari as senior leader L K Advani skipped a crucial meeting of its Core Group apparently unhappy over his continuance in the post. Advani chose not to go to the meeting in the party office on a day of hectic activities triggered by the demand for Gadkari's resignation by party MP Ram Jethmalani in the wake of allegations of dubious funding for his company Purti. Gadkari was also not present at the meeting since it was discussing issues related to him. Just before the Core Group meeting, senior leaders Sushma Swaraj, Ananth Kumar and Balbir Punj met Advani, apparently to persuade him not to push for Gadkari's exit. Earlier, Swaraj tweeted to reiterate her support to Gadkari and deny media reports that she was not supporting him. The Core Group meeting topped a series of consultations among senior leaders, with Gadkari driving to the residences of Swaraj and Arun Jaitley to discuss the situation. A day after his son Mahesh quit the BJP National Executive protesting against Gadkari's continuance, Jethmalani raised the pitch for the resignation of the party chief and claimed that some other senior leaders like Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha were with him on the issue. RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy appeared to take the role of a mediator as he met Advani and later Jethmalani in a bid to persuade him to relent on the issue. Jethmalani said he would like to check the documents on the basis of which Gadkari is claiming innocence. senior party leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Vinay Katiyar held a separate meeting and are understood to have shared the view that BJP's image had suffered because of allegations against Gadkari and something needed to be done immediately.

Husband pedals with wife's body to surrender

A young man allegedly killed his wife and placed the body on a bicycle and pedalled to a police station where he surrendered himself in Odisha's Dhenkanal district. 25-year-old Upendra Pradhan, a truck driver, suspecting his 22-year old wife's marital fidelity strangled and slit her throat at Nua Analaberuni village under Tumusinga police station limits. Next day morning Pradhan took the body on a bicycle to the Pandua police outpost where he surrendered. Upendra had married his wife, Salila, just a year ago.

German woman raped, robbed in Mumbai

A German national was allegedly raped and robbed by unidentified persons at her residence in suburban Bandra. The incident occurred at her residence in posh Bandra locality, she also claimed to have been robbed. The thief climbed through the drainage pipeline and entered into the flat. He has threatened the foreign national with a knife and raped her twice. After that he spent nearly 45 min in the same flat and searched for the money and the gold, finally he has succeeded. Police has drawn the sketch of the culprit and the badly suffered lady has recognized it. Search is on to trace out and arrest the thief.

Girl set on fire for resisting rape

A 15-year-old girl suffered serious burn injuries after a youth allegedly set her on fire for resisting a rape attempt by him. The incident took place when the girl was alone at her residence last afternoon a resident of the same village, barged into the house and tried to rape her. As the girl resisted the rape attempt, he poured kerosene on the minor and set her ablaze. Though the criminal managed to escape he was later arrested by the police team. The girl was admitted to a hospital in Aligarh, her condition was stated as critical.

ED questions Jagan financial adviser

ED today questioned Vijaya sai reddy, financial adviser to YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy with regard to a money laundering case it is probing against the politician. Jagan's financial adviser and Chartered Accountant V Vijay Sai Reddy was questioned here by ED sleuths about the financial approvals he made on behalf of the Kadapa MP and the business dealings he did during the regime of Jagan's father former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Vijay Sai Reddy is an important person in the case, the investigators said, and his statements are crucial. He was questioned for over 90 minutes after the agency had obtained certain leads while questioning Jagan in a Hyderabad jail earlier, sources said. Reddy has allegedly been instrumental in conducting various deals and financial investments on Jagan's behalf and the probe agency wants to obtain more information from him in this regard, they said. He has been questioned by ED earlier in connection with Prevention of Money Laundering case registered against Jagan and his associates. The ED has recently attached Jagan's assets, and of others related to the case, worth Rs 51 crore under the provisions of PMLA. Jagan, at present, is in judicial custody till November 8 in a Hyderabad jail after he was arrested in May in a disproportionate assets case.

Kishan invites Nagam to join BJP

BJP on Monday invited Telangana Nagara Samithi convener and Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy to join the party. BJP State President G Kishan Reddy called on Nagam at his residence and invited him to join their party. The BJP leaders also discussed the party's plan to carry forward the movement for statehood for Telangana region. They reportedly assured Nagam that his political stature would be honoured and respected in the party. Nagam did not give any commitment to the BJP leaders. Former union minister Bandaru Dattatreyya, BJP National Secretary Dr K Lakshman and Mahabubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivasa Reddy also accompanied Kishan Reddy. Nagam has recently ruled out the possibilities of him joining the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which he said was exploring the idea of merging with the Congress party.

Yuvraj singh back in the Test team

India named a 15-member squad for the first two Tests against England starting November 15. Yuvraj Singh on Monday staged a remarkable comeback to the Test fold, while struggling off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also returned. The brave cricketer who fought back after being diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer last year, forced his way back into the squad after commendable performances in the domestic circuit. Harbhajan also got the nod from the new selection panel headed by former Test cricketer Sandeep Patil more than a year after his last appearance in a five day game. There were no major surprises by the selectors, who dropped Suresh Raina to accommodate Yuvraj while Harbhajan made his way at the expense of injured leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.Sachin Tendulkar, the seniormost member of the squad, will provide solidity in an otherwise inexperienced middle-order line-up which will also have the in form Virat Kohli. Cheteshwar Pujara and Yuvraj will be the others in the middle order. The team has seven specialist batsmen, three pacers, three spinners and one wicketkeeper batsman in skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The series starts in Ahmedabad from November 15, followed by the second Test in Mumbai (from November 23 to 27). The third Test is scheduled in Kolkata (December 5 to 9) and the final match will be played in Nagpur from December 13 to 17.

Veteran BJP leader Kailashpati Mishra Passes away

Veteran BJP leader Kailashpati Mishra died on Saturday after prolonged illness, party sources said in Patna. Mishra, who was 89-year-old, breathed his last at his residence. Mishra, who had served as governor of Gujarat, was a bachelor. Chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy and senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi visited his residence to pay condolence. Kumar described Mishra as a politician dedicated to the cause of social work. "With the passing of Mishra an era in politics has come to end," he said in his condolence message.

Yerran Naidu Cremated at his Native Village

Former Union Minister and senior TDP leader Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, who died in a road accident, was cremated with state honours at his native Nimmada village in north coastal Andhra district on Saturday morning. Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu led scores of party leaders, workers and admirers in the funeral procession after which a gun salute was given by the police. Srikakulam district Collector Saurabh Gaur placed a wreath on Mr. Yerran’s body on behalf of the government. Yerran Naidu’s son Rammohan lit the pyre set in the family’s agriculture field. Mr. Chandrababu, who was accompanied by his son Mr. Lokesh, was in tears as he bid final adieu to his closest aide. Thousands of people from Srikakulam and neighbouring Vizianagaram district thronged Nimmada and paid homage to the departed leader, who had represented them in AP Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha for four terms each. State Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu, MP Madhu Yashki, MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy and S Venugopalachari were among those who paid homage to Yerran Naidu.

Yrram Naidu's last rites begin

Yrram Naidu's last rights have begun in Nimmada with a great number of supporters mourning his loss in the party. The government has been making sure that he received a grandiose last journey. He would soon move to his own agricultural village for the final rites where he would be cremated. Several supporters reached Nimmada for the final journey of their beloved leader. A grief stricken teary Chandrababu Naidu stood by Yerram Naidu's side at all times. The TDP leader who was shocked by his unexpected death yesterday said that Yerran Naidu's death was very unfortunate and that TDP has lost one of the most honest persons. His loss is a big blow to TDP. Yerran Naidu passed away during the early hours yesterday in a car crash after he hit an oil tanker near Ranasthalam of Srikakulam district. He was 56 and was survived by a son and a daughter.

Yerram Naidu Dead: Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader K Yerran Naidu died in a car accident on Thursday night. Naidu was returning after an event in Vizag when his car hit a petrol tanker near Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. Yerran Naidu was immediately taken to a local hospital, where the doctors declared him dead at 3.30 am on Friday morning. Naidu was 55. The mishap took place around 2 am. Naidu was returning to Srikakulam from Visakhapatnam, after attending a marriage when the accident occurred. A profusely bleeding Naidu was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), where the doctors' efforts to resuscitate him failed. Four others travelling with Naidu were also injured. Two of them were admitted to RIMS. Yerran Naidu, a four-time MP who served as Union Minister for Rural Development from 1996 to 1998, is survived by wife, a son and a daughter. The last rites will be performed at his native village Nimmada in Srikakulam district on Friday.

Congress Workers Clash With Arvind Kejriwal

Ahead of India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal's rally, his supporters and Congress workers clashed in Farrukhabad. Kejriwal is expected to address a rally to take his anti corruption battle to external Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid's constituency. Members of the Kisan Mahasabha who came from adjacent areas of Sonepat and Panipat, reportedly clashed with Congress workers and also got into a scuffle with the police when it tried to intervene. While Kejriwal's supporters earlier said Farrukhabad belonged to the common man and not Khurshid, Congress workers said they won't let Kejriwal's rally be successful. We are all gathering here today. Kejriwal has no following here. He has gathered people from Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. He has no support here in Farrukhabad. This area belongs to Salman Khurshid," said a Congress worker. With slogans like 'who owns Farrukhabad', activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal's IAC is taking on Khurshid in his own bastion on charges of corruption. This comes despite a veiled warning from Salman Khurshid against any such move.

T Cong Bycott AP day

Telangana Congress MPs and Telangana political JAC leaders have decided to oppose and boycott the State Formation Day Celebrations and will force the Telangana Ministers to not to participate in the programme. BC welfare minister Basavaraju Saraiah, who is also convenor of Telangana Congress MLAs, said that he would not participate in the official programme to be held on November 1 in protest against the Centre's inaction on the Telangana issue. Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy accused the party leadership of perpetuating injustice to Telangana. Anticipating the Telangana ministers' stand, the state government had asked district collectors to officiate as chief guests in the official programmes on Thursday. However, responding to the boycott call given by his colleagues, Nagender said that he would participate in the government programnes. Taking objection to the boycott call given by KCR, Danam asked as to why the TRS president did not think of boycotting the celebrations when he was a minister in the TDP regime.

BJP, Congress Relations With Reliance

Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on the Congress and BJP for promoting the business interests of Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries, saying the UPA and NDA regimes conspired to organize benefits worth thousands of crores for the company at the public exchequer's expense. The Congress and the BJP were savaged and their alleged favours to Reliance cited as examples of their collusion over corruption, the industry heavyweight was also scorched in what was clearly the first instance of its kind in recent times. Apart from being mentioned as a glaring example of crony capitalism, the activists accused Reliance of hoarding gas from the KG basin field in order to profit at people's expense and of seeking to blackmail the government. Bhushan and Kejriwal said Reliance had deliberately scaled down production of gas to pressurize the government into raising price prematurely, adding that while Reliance sought and got afour fold raise in capital expenditure on the KG gas field, only 13 of the 31 gas wells were in production. The activists also played an audio clip from the infamous Niira Radia tapes, with former PM A B Vajpayee's foster son in law Ranjan Bhattacharya telling the excorporate lobbyist, "Mukeshbhai told me, Congress to apni dukaan hai". Reliance denied the charges and accused IAC of being a proxy of vested interests.
