    Phone while driving is not an offense – Court

    Speaking on phone while driving is being considered as punishable offense in recent times. But the Kerala high court has yesterday issued an order contradicting the present rule. Yesterday, the court has ruled that talking on mobile phone while driving is not an offense, unless it can be established that the act, had endangered public safety. Further the court has observed “There is no provision in the Police Act that bans people from talking over mobile phone while driving. Hence a person doing this can’t be assumed as one causes danger to the public.

    Bullet Train project in trouble

      The prestigious Bullet Train project between Ahmadabad and Mumbai is facing troubles. The pet project of prime minister himself has not yet taken off. Reason! Farmer in Maharashtra as well as Gujarat were not interested in parting with their lands for the sake of project. "The bullet train project should be completed by the end of 2023. So there are only five years. We do not have much time. The land problem issue should be solved immediately. Japan and India are in very close collaboration to establish this high-speed train,’’ said an official linked with the project.

    Yeddyurappa will be the CM- Supreme Court

      After the turn out of a long series of dramatic incidents, the supreme court has upheld the decision of Karnataka governor to swear in as chief minister. Earlier the governor has surprised by his decision to invite Yeddyurappa to form the government though he hasn’t got enough numbers to form the government. Irate by his choice, the congress party has knocked the door of supreme court at the midnight. After hearing for three long hours starting from 2 AM this morning, the Supreme Court has refused to put a stay on the swearing of BS Yeddyurappa as the new chief minister of Karnataka.

    Sidhu free from murder charges

      Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu was relieved from a 30 year old murder case. The supreme court has yesterday found that there is no enough evidence to prove him guilty. It was a case of road rage when Sidhu and his friend Rupinder Singh Sandhu has involved in a brawl with a man named Gurnam Singh. The brawl was ended with a fight with Sidhu manhandling the victim. Gurnam Singh was soon dead and his family has accused Sidhu to be the reason for his death. However, the Supreme Court was not satisfied that a single blow could lead to the death of Gurnam Singh and has struck off the case.

    Facebook deleted 30 million posts

      Facebook has either deleted or warned on 30 million posts in just three months. This announcement has probably been made to save the face of Facebook which has been facing allegations in data breach scandal. Further it has announced that around 200 apps that posed risk to the user data has also been suspended. The posts that were deleted contained vicious content such as terrorist propaganda,  child pornography and hate speech.

    13000 cr. loss to Punjab Bank

      The Punjab National Bank which has been licked like a candy by Nirav Modi has declared it’s quarterly report from Jan-Mar 2018. Though none expected the numbers to be attractive, PNB has shattered all the records to declare a loss of 13000 crore rupees. The major loss has come from the loans defaulted by Nirav Modi which stood at 7,178 crore. Ironically PNB is the country's second largest public sector lender and it’s ill health would certainly affect the nation.

    20 people feared dead in Varanasi

      UP has been facing continuous tragedies. After Kushinagar incident where 13 children were crushed to death in a road accident, it`s now the turn of a flyover in Varanasi. At least 18 persons were died after an under-construction flyover collapsed in Varanasi yesterday. The death toll is expected to rise as many others were still trapped in the rubble. There were reports that the fall of bridge is merely due to lack of quality in the construction work.

    45 people dead in Godavari

      In a drastic tragedy, a boat has drowned near Devipatnam of East Godavari District. Sources revealed that the boat has started despite the warning from the locals that the winds are not suitable for the travel. As the boat reached amidst the river, gusty winds has thrown the vehicle upside down. Further it has been traveling with almost 60 people while it’s capacity is only 40 travelers. Only 12 people have reached ashore and the rest were feared to be dead. The accident has been described as a major tragedy in recent history of Godavari Districts.

    4,343 crore spent on govt. Publicity

      The central government has so far spent 4,343.26 crore Rs. for advertisements and publicity through different media. This has been revealed after an RTI activist has sought information in the matter. However, these figures could have been higher. The government has partially cut down it’s expenses on publicity after receiving severe criticism from the opposition as well as social activists. Interestingly Modi’s government has spent Rs. 953.54 crore in just nine months after entering into the office.

      Ex- Prime minister Manmohan Singh has written a letter to president, expressing his displeasure over the language of Narendra Modi. "It is unthinkable that in our democratic polity, the Prime Minister as head of the government would utter words which are threatening, intimidating in content and a public warning to the leaders of the main opposition party, the Congress," said the letter signed by Manmohan Singh along with top brass of congress such as Mallikarjun Kharge, P Chidambaram and Ambika Soni. The letter refers to PM Modi's speech at a public meeting in Karnataka's Hubli on May 6, in which he said: "Congress leaders, please listen carefully, if you cross your limits, remember this is Modi - and you will pay."

      For the second time in the regime, Smriti Irani loses her post as minister. Two years before, she was sacked from the Human Resource Development Minister. Her tenure as HRD minister has seen several controversies such as death of Rohith Vemula. She was then transferred to textile ministry. After Venkaiah Naidu`s appointment as Vice-President, his ministry of Information and Broadcasting was entrusted to Smriti. However, Smriti has yet against brewed a few controversies such as threatening the journalists for fake news. It has become obvious that she would be sacked as I &B ministry too! Now the ministry has been entrusted to Rajyavardhan Rathore.

    Shashi Tharoor charged with wive`s murder

      The prestigious parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor was charged for abetting the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. Sunanda was found dead in a five star hotel at Delhi. There were rumours that she had a violent struggle with her husband before her death. Initial reports stated that the cause of her death in unnatural. However, after four years of her death... a Special Investigation Team has submitted a report to Patiala House Court terming the incident to be a suicide and Shashi being the culprit for forcing her to such act.

    Highest voting in Karnataka in 60 years

      Karnataka has recorded a 72.13% turn out of voters in the present assembly polls. This is said to be a record turnout since 1957 assembly elections. As many as 24 of the 30 districts in the state recorded more than 70% polling. The heavy campaign by top BJP and congress leaders seem to be a major cause for the turnout. However some fear that the increased distribution of money among voters could be another reason for the high percentile of voting.

Savarkar is known for extreme hindutwa ideas during the times of Independence. He was also sometimes considered to be the guru of Godse who killed Gandhi. However, pro hindutwa groups such as RSS, VHP and Shiv Sena consider him to be one of the torch bearer of Hindu glory.

      Facebook seem to be trying innovative ideas to gain back its reputation after the data breach scandal. After the announcement of dating services from Facebook, here is yet another initiative. According to the tech website Cheddar, Facebook is thinking of launching digital currency. Facebook has more than two billion users which is more than good enough to introduce a new business. By using this crypto currency, the users of FB could in future make and receive payments. 

    40 killed in sand storm

      Sand storms could be a new phenomenon for India. But we probably should be getting ready for them. At least 40 people were killed yesterday when and storms and thunderbolts chocked the nation. In UP alone, 18 people were killed while nine people were dead in the Telugu states. More than 180 flights were cancelled at the Indira Gandhi airport due to storm factor. The crops in Andhra and Telangana were said to be severely affected by the storm and the rains that followed it.

    Examiner kept staring at my chest

      It was a shocking incident from Kerala. A student who was appearing for NEET exam has been ill treated by none other than the examiner himself. Her ordeal started when she was asked to take her inner wear away to pass through the metal detector. She then gathered her courage back to proceed for the exam. But this time it was the examiner himself that proved to be a villain. "a male observer from CBSE came for checking. Initially, I didn't notice him, but he came and stood right in front of me at least 3 or 4 times. This made me really comfortable as they had already asked me to remove the inner. We didn't have the permission to use shawl or dupatta. He kept staring at my chest repeatedly and I had to hide my body with the question paper," the NEET aspirant complained to the police.

      West Bengal Chief Minister has made shocking comments about her safety. She alleged that `some` political parties has hired people to kill her. Mamata is sure that the killers have made all preperations to kill her. However she asserted that a will has been made by her mentioning her successor as well her directions to rule the party in her absence. Mamata in recent times is maintaining equal distance with BJP as well as Congress. She has been working out with politicians like KCR to form a third front.
