Gambling to be legal in India

Gambling to be legal in India

A few years from here after, you could find a gambling house amidst our own locality. Reason! The Law Commission of India has recommended making gambling legal to stop `illegal gambling’. It advised that the money generated from such activities could be used for welfare schemes. It has also made few cautions along with the advice. Linking Aadhar and PAN card details was one of it. The commission said that such linkage would provide details of gamblers and set restrictions on the size of their gambling. These recommendations were made the Law Commission to the query by the Supreme Court which asked the commission whether it’s possible to make cricket betting legal. Well! The Commission seems to be more enthusiastic in applying the query to every procedure of gambling. Would have to wait for the response of Supreme Court as well as the government to these suggestions.

Recently the Punjab chief minister has ordered all police and government officials in Punjab to undergo dope test at the time of being recruited. However his orders were met with demand that even politicians should be undergoing a dope test to prove their innocence.

    Search Warrant on Vijay Mallya

    Search Warrant on Vijay Mallya

Things don’t seem to be going in favour of Vijay Mallya. The liquor Baron who has tried to evade huge debt from 13 banks in India by absconding to London is being dealt strictly. The London courts too began to deal harshly with Mallya. They have now given a permission to enter the premises of Mallya and search for the needed documents. It is seem to be a positive approach by the court towards the Indian government. However the matter of extraditing Mallya is still in the process of arguments. The court will decide the matter of Mallya’s extradition to India by the end of this month. Recent setbacks in the court has forced Mallya to shed his silence and start blaming that the cases on him were politically motivated.

Huge victory for Kejriwal in Supreme Court

Huge victory for Kejriwal in Supreme Court

The court has at last made a judgement on the rift between Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and its Chief Minister. It has clearly stated that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) cannot act independently and can't obstruct the AAP government’s functioning. The five member bench has declared that the LG is mere representative of the central government. The court has said that except in the case of three issues of land, law and order and police on whom the central government has exclusive rights... LG should not interfere in other aspects and try to stall the decisions of the state government. The court has time and again in its judgement stressed the need for a harmony between central and state governments- "The relationship between Centre and State government should  be healthy. The LG must work harmoniously with the state. The LG and council of ministers have to be constantly aligned,’ advised the court.

Ironically, the culprit was also a minor. The girl’s parents are daily labourers and have gone for work leaving the siblings at the home. As they returned home after their routine work, they found their girl child profusely bleeding. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where a minor operation had to be performed upon her. The Delhi commission for Women has come to the rescue of the victim and promised complete support for her.

    Animals Are Legal Persons

    Citizens are parents of Animals

Interesting statement... isn’t it! But it has come from the High Court of Uttarakhand. The court has made these comments while issuing guidelines to prevent cruelty against the animals- "They have a distinct persona with corresponding rights, duties and liabilities of a living person" said the court. The court also declared all Uttarakhand natives as the parents of animals and endowed them with the duty to ensure their welfare and protection. The court has also prescribed the load to be allowed on the animals and the temperature in which they should be kept. However it was not the first time for the Uttarakhand High court to issue such judgements. Previously it has stirred a controversy by declaring glaciers, forests as juristic person.

Bangladesh scores lowest total in 44 years

Bangladesh has created a rare record. But they can’t be proud of making it. Playing on the first day of their first Test against West Indies, they were bowled out for just 43 runs. This was the lowest total recorded in past 44 years. None of the batsman from Bangladesh could reach a double figure except for Liton Das (25). Thanks to the assault of West Indies fast bowler Kemer Roach who took five wickets for eight runs, Bangla cricketers have scored their lowest total in test cricket. For the statistics it was New Zealand that made the lowest total in Test history. They were bowled out for 26 by England in Auckland in 1955. If you are curious to know the lowest total for Indian test cricket, it is 42 runs way back in 1974.

    Priyanka gets legal notice

Priyank gets a legal notice from the municipal corporation of Mumbai for illegal constructions. The corporation has been acting on the complaint made by the local corporator who made five allegations against the actress. Priyanka owns a space in Andheri (west) where she was said to have made some unauthorised constructions. “We earlier wrote, asking them to regularize the unauthorized changes after paying the penalty and remove the other illegal changes which cannot be approved. But they didn’t bother to pay any attention after which we sent them the notice under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act. If they fail to reply again, we will demolish the illegal constructions at both the premises,” said an official of Mumbai Corporation.

    World record by Virat Kohli

Indian captain Virat Kohli has achieved yet another remarkable mile stone. He has reached the 200 run mark in T20 matches in just 56 innings marking him as the fastest achiever in the slot. Only three people were able to reach the 2000 run mark (New Zealand's Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill and Pakistan's Shoaib Malik). However this is not the sole record of Virat as we all can expect. He has many `fastest’ records on his name. Interestingly he is the only batsman in history to average more than 50 in Test matches, ODI’s and T20’s simultaneously. With 35 centuries in his bag and a long career on sight, Virat is expected to break many records created by Sachin Tendulkar.
