Railway budget highlights

For the first in last 12 years a member of Congress party, who happen to be Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has got the opportunity to present the Railway budget in Parliament today. Here some highlights of his budget:

1. Additional security for women special trains by women police. One more company will be added to the present 4 existing companies of women RPF forces.

2. 10% reservation for women in RPF services.

3. 117 Escalators and 400 lifts to be installed in A-1 stations across the country.

4. Bio Toilets to maintain hygiene in trains.

5. Linking of tickets with Aadhar to prevent irregularities in bookings.

6. Reservation status through SMS service.

7. Radical changes in e-ticketing before end of this year.

8. Increasing of server capacity of IRCT web site to enable 10 lakh ticket bookings at any given time from various points in the country.

9. Six bottling plants in selected stations for supplying of safe drinking water to passengers.

10. Self propelled accident relief trains with fast and reliable management systems.

Currently, Railway Minister Bansal is presenting the budget in the parliament. Hence, full details of it will be reported soon.
