A case of brutal mass killing was witness early this day just outside Tokya, Japan. A 26-year-old who is a former employee of a facility for the disabled in central Japan, early on Tuesday, went on rampage killing people with knives. He claimed he wanted to kill disabled people, left at least 19 dead and 26 others injured after a knife attack at the care facility. Police in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Tokyo, have arrested Satoshi Uematsu, the attacker. “I did it,” he was quoted as saying. He is said to have added: “It is better that disabled people disappear.” Uematsu, a resident of Sagamighara, was carrying a bag full of knives and other sharp-edged tools, some of which were bloodstained, when he handed himself in.

A police spokesman declined to give details of the investigation, saying: “We are still confirming details of the case.” The 7.6 acre facility, established by the local government and nestled on the wooded bank of the Sagami River, cares for people with a wide range of disabilities. Fifteen people were initially confirmed dead, while four were said to be in cardiac arrest, media reports said. Kyodo later said the death toll stood at 19. There was confusion about the number of wounded, with reports fluctuating between 20 and 45. Twenty-nine emergency squads responded to the attack.
