As afraid, the demand for separate Gorkhaland state once again surfaces on Sunday. Gorkhaland Janamukthi Morcha (GJM), which was agitating for separate state but somehow silenced by the government, has reiterated its demand on yesterday.

The GJM members, who had a meeting at Darjeeling yesterday have decided to write a letter to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde requesting to carve separate state for Gorkhaland along with Telangana.

The GJM president Bimal Gurang speaking to media has said, “We will request the Center to create separate state for us. If, it ignores our demand but grants Telangana state, then we will restart out agitations for separate state, soon after Center makes an announcement on Telangana.

This predicted development may have its impact on the Center and may discourages it from taking any favorable decision on Telangana. Even if it goes ahead and carve Telangana state, then it has Gurkhaland issue waiting for it in its backyard. So, the Gorkhaland issue may apply breaks to the Congress party on Telangana issue.
