Congress party that fails to get the ‘Leader of the Opposition’ status in the Parliament has found a very nice idea to overcome its ego problem. It has formed seven ‘shadow committees’ comprising party seniors and former ministers to closely monitor the decisions taken by the NDA Ministers. Each shadow committee is assigned to specific ministry and task. Later, the party will discuss on their reports and chalk out an action plan on how to attack the NDA government in the winter sessions of the parliament that begins from November 24th.

The committee comprising Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad a K Antony, M Veerappa Moily, Anand Sharma and Oscar Fernandes will look into the issues related to Finance, Commerce, and Foreign Affairs. Digvijay Singh and others will look after agriculture, drinking water and sanitation etc. Moily, Scindia and Sharma will take care of Information and Broadcasting Ministries. Other ministries are also allocated to rest of the committees.

It looks like handling cabinet minister posts and not committees. Perhaps, it may make the Congress leaders happy for a while and may give them a feel of retaining their ministries, even though they are not in the power. Indeed, it is great idea. The beleaguered AP and Telangana state Congress leaders also can try this idea to cool their heels.
