  • Dr. Kamineni makes wise argument on Sec: 8

So far, there is no official confirmation about execution of Sec. 8 of the AP Re-organization Bill that entrusts full powers to the Governor in the common capital Hyderabad. However, the report triggered a fierce battle between leaders of different political parties. It once again clearly draws a line between the AP and Telangana leaders. While, the ruling TRS and the Congress party leaders are strongly opposing it, T-TDP and AP TDP and YSRCP are supporting it. However, the BJP in AP and Telangana states has not joined their battle yet.   But, Minister Dr. Kamineni Srinivasa Rao, who is from the AP BJP has strongly defends the Centre’s decision. He said “It is Jairam Ramesh and KCR, who penned several clauses of the AP Re-organization bill, including Sec: 8. Then how the TRS and Congress party leaders are opposing it now? The Congress and the TRS leaders, who are opposing it now should know one thing. Any sections in any Act can’t be divided into implementing sections and non-implementing sections. Whatever sections and sub-sections mentioned in any Act are intended to implement and serve the purpose. Hence, Sec: 8 of the AP Re-organization bill is also not exceptional one. It should be implemented in the common capital and serve its purpose.”

    Jayalalitha’s case to be reopened

Tamilnadu CM Jayalalitha, who is contesting in the bye-polls from Ramakrishnapuram constituency in Chennai, has started election campaigning from yesterday. She is contesting in the bye-elections as it is mandatory to become a legislative member within six months of assuming charge as CM of the state. While, she is preparing grounds for re-election, Karnataka state government gave a shocker to her.   It filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court verdict acquitting her in the disproportionate assets case. It filed a petition through its advocate Joseph Aristotle appealing to set aside the Karnataka high Court’s verdict and to disqualify Tamilnadu CM Jayalalitha. The apex court accepts its application for trial. Hence, Jayalalitha should prepare for another legal battle in the apex court over the same case that she faced for nearly last two decades in the state level. Indeed, it would be a negative development for her in the prevailing favorable situation.

Governor can oversee vote-for-note case: AG

An interesting twist is likely to take place in in the vote-for-note case. According to latest information, Governor Narasimhan has sought the suggestion of Attorney General about his powers in handling this case.   AG reportedly told the Governor that he can exercise his full powers in the common capital Hyderabad under Section: 8 of the AP Reorganization Bill. He can order the AP and TS police in the common capital to report him directly about this or any other case and can take his own decisions. He can allow or refuse the AP police to set up their police station in the common capital.   This is exactly what the TDP has been demanding for the last two weeks. It is demanding him to exercise his full powers in the common capital instead of letting the TRS government handle the Law and Order control in Hyderabad city.   Obviously, it will also enable him to take control over the Telangana ACB and steer it sitting in the back seat. It will also enable him to take control over the AP police and AP CID which are investigating the phone tapping case. If Governor takes control of both police and cases into his hands, obviously, it is for applying breaks to both cases in a bid to avoid constitutional crisis and unrest in both states. However, the Telangana government may object his move as it is strongly opposing implementation of Section: 8 in Hyderabad city.

    Jayasudha likely to join TRS?

Media is abuzz with the reports that the Congress party plans to suspend its former MLA Jayasudha from the party very soon, as she distanced from the party and not even visiting her constituency for a long time. But, the Congress party leaks this matter to media only after knowing that she is planning to join the TRS party.   CM KCR attends the audio release function of her son Sreya’s debut film ‘Basti.’ Later, she said that she will consider joining the TRS party if he invites her. Hence, before she makes announcement, the Congress party gives media leaks that it is going to suspend her from the party. Though, her admission into the TRS looks very odd because of her Andhra background, CM KCR may invite her into the party keeping in view of her popularity among the Andhra people settled in the twin cities. CM KCR may be expecting that she can draw the votes of Andhra people in favour of his party in the GHMC elections. But, if she joins the TRS party she also may face the same fate of Vijaya Shanti in future.

Line clear for Bhogapuram Airport construction

It appears, Andhra Pradesh government has dropped its idea of collecting 15, 000 acres of land at Bhogapuram village in Vizianagaram district for its proposed airport city project, keeping in view of protests from the farmers.   Minister Mrinalini speaking to media said “Airports Authority of India has formally sanctioned permission for constructing airport at Bhogapuram village. State government will collect total 5040 acres of land for this purpose. Land acquisition will be made either through land acquisition Act or land pooling systems. Government will start this process very shortly.”   Earlier Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that his government will collect 15, 000 acres of land, in which an airport, air planes maintenance center, air planes pilot training center and quarters for staff will be built. But, now it seems airport only may come up in this place. Bhogapuram village is adjacent to the National highway and very ideal place for airport as it is very close to Visakhapatnam city, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam towns.

Will work under Chandrababu leadership: Balakrishna

TRS, Congress and YSR Congress parties have tried to woo Nandamuri Balakrishna to claim CM Post during peak of the crisis period, but he simply ignored their politically motivated suggestions. Later, they all have tried to woo Ashok Gajapati Raju also but he also rubbished their suggestions. Balakrishna, who attends the founder's day function of Basavatarakam cancer Institute at Hyderabad on Monday, reacted to their suggestions. He said “Chandrababu Naidu alone can efficiently run the government and I would like to work under his leadership. We are planning to construct a Cancer Hospital in Andhra Pradesh also very soon.”

    Talibans attacked Afghan Parliament

Taliban Militants have made a deadly suicide bomb attacks on the Afghanistan Parliament a short while ago. Some of them have managed to enter into the Parliament building. They also explode a bomb inside the Parliament building. They opened fire on the members of the house and the media persons. According to latest reports several members and media persons were injured in their attack. Total nine bomb explosions were occurred around Afghanistan Parliament building. Currently, a serious gun battle between the security forces and militants is continuing around parliament building. According to latest reports, two civilians and six terrorists were killed in the cross firing. This incident occurred when the Speaker was introducing the new Defence Minister of the country to the members of the house. Talibans claim responsibility for the attack. They stated that the present Afghanistan government is acting like a slave to US government and so they have attacked the Parliament in protest.

    Impose President’s Rule: Harsha Kumar

Former MP Harsha Kumar has made some sensational statement. Speaking to media at Rajahmundry, he said “Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu and KCR both are trying to project the vote-for-note case and phone tapping issues as interstate problem to overcome from their problems. I think Governor Narasimhan is also not trying to resolve the issues between the two states. He is watching like a silent spectator while both governments are indulged in serious fighting. I opine that he should be removed from his post immediately and the Centre should impose President’s Rule on both states, otherwise these cat fights between the two governments will continue forever and it will hamper the development of both states.”

    Sakshi Media also served notice

Visakhapatnam DCP Trivikram Varma told the media that notice was served to Sakshi media also on Saturday, following a complaint lodged by lawyer NVV Prasad against it in a city police station for trying to defame the Chief Minister of the state with its false and baseless stories.   This is first time that Andhra Pradesh government has allowed the police to take action against Sakshi media even though it has been rigorously making negative publicity against it in a bid to create negative opinion among the people. Sakshi media owned by YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy intensifies its negative publicity against the state government ever since Revanth Reddy’s issue was surfaced. However, the state government has ignored its concentrated criticism against it, but the people reacted otherwise and lodged a police complaint against it.   So, it seems Sakshi media appears to be invited troubles in its attempt to defame the state government and the Chief Minister. Already a section of media in the Telangana state has started conducting rallies protesting serving notices to the T-News Channel. Sakshi media backed by YSRCP also may hit the roads in Andhra Pradesh very soon for the same reasons.

AP Transco all set to buy Gas Based Power Plant

AP Transco is likely to purchase 216 MW capacity gas based power plant that was set up at Jegurupadu in East Godavari district from its promoters GVK Power very soon. AP Transco In-Charge Chief Engineer (Commercial) Sitarama Murthy wrote a letter to GVK Company inviting them to attend a meeting for discussing the final price of the project. The meeting between them is likely to take place on coming Monday and Tuesday at Hyderabad. AP Government has appointed Grant Thornton company as consultant to evaluate the power plant price and it estimates that it would be around Rs. 371 crores in total.   This plant has been operating under PPA mode from June 17th 1993. The agreement period was once again extended for 18 years on April 19, 1996. the state government wants to purchase the power plant from the GVK Power, since second agreement period was also over long back. But, the GVK is reported to be asking the state government to extend the agreement again and invest Rs. 500 crore for modernization of the plant.   According to initial agreement, there is scope for extending the agreement or for purchasing the plant by either party. So, the AP Transco wants to handover the plant from GVK Company paying an amicable price. Hence, it may be decided in the scheduled meeting between two parties.

AP Police issued notice to T-News Channel

AP police have served a notice to T-News Channel CEO Narayana Reddy at his office located at Road No: 10, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on Friday midnight for telecasting audio tape that contains alleged conversation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson, which is violating Section: 19 of Telegraphic Act and was very damaging to Chief Minister’s reputation. T-News management was asked to respond to the notice within three days.   Visakhapatnam ACP Ramana has served the notice to T-News management following a complaint lodged by NVV Prasad, a noted advocate in Visakhapatnam city. He complained that T-News Channel and Sakshi News Channel are airing false and baseless stories that are misguiding the people in a bid to tarnish Chief Minister’s reputation. Hence, Visakhapatnam ACP Ramana has first served notice to T-News Channel yesterday night. So, there are chances for serving notice to Sakshi News Channel also next.

Fresh petition filed in Revanth’s case

PV Krishnaiah, a lawyer has filed a petition in the High Court on Friday asking to transfer TDP MLA Revanth Reddy’s case to CBI as this case is need to be deeply investigated to find the truth. Besides this, an interesting development has taken place today.   Revanth Reddy’s lawyers have applied for certified copies of Elvis Stephenson’s statement given before Magistrate two days ago. ACB also applied for the certified copies of the same. They both plan their strategies accordingly for continuing their arguments in the court when it takes up his case for hearing on June 29th. Currently, the original copy in sealed cover is with the ACB Court.

    I am not well: Sandra

TDP Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who was summoned by the ACB for interrogation in the vote-for-note case, wrote a letter to ACB stating that he is suffering with back pain and leg pain so can’t attend interrogation till next 10 days as the doctors advised him to take 10 days bed rest. He assured the ACB that he will appear before them after 10 days. However, he writes the ACB that if they want they can question him in the hospital. Actually, he was asked to attend before the ACB investigating officers on or before Friday evening. But, he has been telling that he has not received any notice from the ACB and if receives will respond to it. So, he seems to be now responding to its notice.

Congress party legislative leader K Janareddy has suggested to his party Telangana Working President Mallu Batti Vikramarka not to use abusive language while criticizing the rival party leaders. He reminds him that once the Congress leaders have objected CM KCR and the ruling TRS leaders using abusive language. So, Jana suggests his party leaders to refrain from using unparliamentary words in their statements and maintain dignity in the politics. He said politics should be a gentleman game and not street fights. He suggested that both governments should co-operate with each other in develop both states simultaneously. He opined that the Law and Order situation in the common capital Hyderabad is fine and hence let the Centre decide when to implement Section: 8 of the AP Reorganization Bill.

Initially, it is exercising to set up a separate registrar office either at Thullur or Mangalagiri. Currently, the registrar offices at Mangalagiri and Tadikonda are catering the needs of 29 villages in the surrounding areas. T   he revenue officials have proposed to merge them both with the proposed registrar office and set up it in Thullur. They also made another proposal to set up four sub-registrar offices in Thullur, Ananthavaram, Mandadam and Undavalli villages to cater the needs of all villages in the proposed new district. However, the state government may prefer to set up registrar office in Thullur because is keen to create a new district Amaravati. If, the government nods for setting up a registrar office in Thullur merging the other two offices at Mangalagiri and Tadikonda, then it would be a clear sign for formation of new district Amaravati.

GHMC gives explanation on CBN’s application

Responding to Andhra Pradesh Labor minister Achchem Naidu’s allegations, GHMC officials have stated that they have rejected Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s application for permission to construct house as they have observed certain violations in the building plan and for constructing pillars without obtaining permission. They said that his application was returned to him on June 16th.   They rubbished the minister’s allegations, who said GHMC kept the application for 45 days and rejected it for not the technical reasons they are showing but for the non-payment of property tax by the AP government of Secretariat building. GHMC officials are stating that they are trying to recover Rs.20 crores property tax dues from the AP government. GHMC also issued a notification for this purpose in the newspapers on Thursday.
