Governor can oversee vote-for-note case: AG

An interesting twist is likely to take place in in the vote-for-note case. According to latest information, Governor Narasimhan has sought the suggestion of Attorney General about his powers in handling this case.

AG reportedly told the Governor that he can exercise his full powers in the common capital Hyderabad under Section: 8 of the AP Reorganization Bill. He can order the AP and TS police in the common capital to report him directly about this or any other case and can take his own decisions. He can allow or refuse the AP police to set up their police station in the common capital.

This is exactly what the TDP has been demanding for the last two weeks. It is demanding him to exercise his full powers in the common capital instead of letting the TRS government handle the Law and Order control in Hyderabad city.

Obviously, it will also enable him to take control over the Telangana ACB and steer it sitting in the back seat. It will also enable him to take control over the AP police and AP CID which are investigating the phone tapping case. If Governor takes control of both police and cases into his hands, obviously, it is for applying breaks to both cases in a bid to avoid constitutional crisis and unrest in both states. However, the Telangana government may object his move as it is strongly opposing implementation of Section: 8 in Hyderabad city.
