Justice Lodha says courts should work 365days
Rajendra Mal Lodha, the retired Chief Justice of India, said that the justice system should work all through the year without a break, with the huge number of cases pending in courts in India at present. Justice Lodha said, “The number of cases pending in the courts is huge and to ensure that people get justice in time, people related to judiciary should work non-stop 365 days.” “The issue of appointment of judges is a tough job not only in India but in the world at large. Like India, differences between the governments of the respective countries and judicial appointment organizations are being witnessed,” he said.
Also welcoming the Supreme Court's verdict of accepting major recommendations of his committee on administrative changes in the BCCI, said, "Cricket is like a religion in the country. At the same time, it unites people. In view of this, transparency is required in every aspect, but due to match fixing, huge money, the dignity of this game is in a degraded state." "To bring the game on its right track, we suggested a few points on the direction of the Supreme Court. The apexcourt has granted this. I hope that the sport and the players will get more affection from the audience once the suggestions come into effect," he added.
