SK Committee Report poses challenge to state government

The views expressed by the Shivarama Krishnan (SK) committee on the AP state Capital location in its final report submitted to Home Ministry yesterday turns very embarrassing to the state government as they are quite against its plans. So, the state government has to take a final call on this issue in the cabinet meeting to be held on September 1st. However, it can be understood that it is still favors Vijayawada-Guntur for the Capital.   Hence, arguments supporting and opposing the SK committee triggers in the media and political circles. Those who support government’s decision argue that State Capital can’t be built in a remote place like Vinukonda area, which is close to Nallamala forest that is providing shelter to Maoists. They argue that there is no adequate water supply. They also suspect some conspiracy in the report to stop the state government from building a world class Capital. If, there is no strong Capital for the state, it will adversely affect the state interests in the long run, argues. Decentralization of administration also may costs the government very dearly and it also can’t have full control over it, with which corruption grew all over, argues those prefer VGTM area as state Capital.   However, people of Rayalaseema, who are fighting to own the state Capital welcomes the SK committee’s report. They are ready to settle for Vinukonda if not Kurnool because they have traditionally connected with Prakasham district. Traders, Businessmen, Industrialists, Lawyers etc. are also welcome the SK Committee recommendations. Especially, people in backward districts like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Ananthapur, Karnool, Nellore, Chittoor etc. are delighted with SK Committee report as it is addressing the problems of their districts.   So, all these arguments and counter arguments on SK Committee report are creating fresh troubles and poses new challenge to the state government.

Top Industrialists on AP government’s advisory board

It is wise idea to have prominent industrialists on state government advisory board, who may help the government in setting up new industries and also could bridge the gap between government and industrial sector.   AP government has formed a special task force comprising top industrialists of the country. Wipro chairman Azim Premji, Hero Corp chairman Sunil Kanth Munjal, ICICI Bank chairman KV Kamath, Godrej group chairman Adi Godrej, Sundaram-Clayton Limited Chairman Venu Srinivasan, former Nasscom president Kiran Karnik, Tata Consultancy Services vice chairman S Ramadorai and CII Director General Chandrajit Banerji are in this special task force lead by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.   Revenue, finance, transport, agriculture and municipal administration ministers and the Principal Secretaries of these departments are also joins their team as members. Initially, three years term was set for this task force. The members are expected to hold a meeting once in every three months during the first year. The Task force is given free hand to again constitute working groups to handle specific tasks.   The main purpose of constituting this task force is to attract investments to the state for Industrial and Infrastructure sectors’ development. It will guide the state government by providing a strategic road map for this purpose. This task force also helps the state government on various issues related to investments, establishing industries and problems need to be address for a speedy development in the state.

Are the by-elections testimony for 100 days ruling?

Congress party claims that recent by-elections have reflected the negative mood of the people of the country, who are disappointed with 100 days ruling of Modi government. Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said ‘people voted against communal politics.’ Several others also have their own definitions for the poor show by BJP and its allies in the by-elections. Their arguments may appear genuine if seen overall performance, but if seen the same on state wise, entirely different factors will appear before eyes.   For example, in Bihar Congress, RJD and JDU have joined hands in the by-elections and formed a strong alliance that keeps BJP at bay. Actually, people are well aware about the enmity between two former CMs of the state Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. As long as they are stayed separate, Congress and BJP used to handle them both with great ease, but not when they join hands. Need not to say what happen if Congress also joins their team.   In Bellary, BJP loses the seat to Congress party, probably because Congress party is in power there. Moreover, the re-admission of tainted Yedyurappa may also had its effect on the party. Medak Loksabha seta may fall into ruling TRS party lap because KCR’s positive performance. There may be different factors in other states that left BJP behind in this by-elections race. So, one can’t attribute the poor performance in the by-elections to Modi government or his 100 days’ performance.
