Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Tuesday addressed a press conference in Lucknow and announced the approval of the reorganisation of UP into four smaller states - Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh, Poorvanchal and Paschimi Pradesh - by the state cabinet. Mayawati said: "BSP favours reorganisation of Uttar Pradesh for the better development of the state." She further added that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has always worked for the betterment of the weaker section. "The Uttar Pradesh government had asked the Centre to provide more funds for development but the Prime Minister didn't respond," she also said.
