The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu’s son, Mr Nara Lokesh, and actor Jr NTR are likely to play key roles in the party in the near future.

Sources in the Telugu Desam say that Mr Lokesh is being groomed by his father to contest in the 2014 Assembly Elections and the seemingly orchestrated demand by Mr Lokesh’s supporters to make him in-charge of the Chandragiri Assembly constituency, which was once represented by Mr Chandrababu Naidu, gives credence to the plan.

With support for Mr Lokesh growing, those backing the NTR family are now asking for a key role for Jr NTR, beginning with the Krishna district where the actor’s grandfather, N.T. Rama Rao, represented the Gudivada constituency.

Since Jr NTR is on his honeymoon after his marriage with Mr Chandrababu Naidu’s niece Ms Laxmi Pranathi, sources say that Mr Lokesh will be the focus of attention during the three-day Telugu Desam annual extravaganza, Mahanadu, which begins on May 27.
