The CBI Special Court at Nampally reserved its decision on Enforcement Directorate's (ED) petition seeking court's permission to interrogate YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his disproportionate aseets case. The Kadapa MP and YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy is currently lodged in Chanchalguda jail and the ED wants to quiz him about the flow of foreign funds in to his business establishments.
CBI Special Court Judge U Durga Prasada Rao heard arguements of both the parties and posted the case for judgement to 6 July, 2012. Earlier, Jagan's counsel had filed the counter vehemently opposing the ED's plea to grill the Kadapa MP. The counsel argued that Jagan was no longer the Chairman of Director of Jagathi Publications Limited into which the CBI had alleged firms and individuals had invested funds in return for lands during the tenure of Jagan Mohan Reddy's father late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's regime as the chief minister.
The Court, on June 28, had adjourned the hearing of the case to July 2 on CBI's charge of alleged violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) against Jagan. He was arrested on May 27 and was lodged in Chanchalguda jail here after his judicial remand was extended till July 4. The ED has already questioned nine accused in the illegal assets case, Emaar Case and Illegal mining case against Jagan in the Chanchalguda Jail.
