CBI JD Call List Row: Maharashtra SP Role Under Probe

The Hyderabad region Central Bureau of Investigationb (CBI) Joint Director VV Laxminarayana's call data record (CDR) row is becoming clearer with new evidences coming into light. However, the AP police is keeping mum on the issue. Additional director general of police S Gopal Reddy, currently in-charge of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), told that there is no clarity yet on the role of Nanded police in the matter. "There is no information that the Nanded SP had sent the request seeking Lakshminarayana's call details. It could have been anyone and the matter needs to be probed," Reddy said. Thus, the name of the IPS officer who knowingly or unknowing sent the request to the service provider (BSNL) seeking call details of the CBI joint director continues to stay under wraps. Sources said that the name of the officer was deliberately being kept secret by the investigative agency since only an officer of the rank of SP or above could have put in a request seeking CDR. Interestingly, besides eliminating the role of the SP, CID said that they had yet to receive information about any private detective agency seeking the call records. Businessman Raghurama Ramakrishna Raju has been accused of collecting Lakshminarayana's CDR before filing a case in high court. Police said teams have been formed to collect documentary proof to nail the culprits. A few DSP rank officers have been drafted in by CID officials to carry out the probe. Although Nacharam inspector Srinivas Rao was summoned by CID, he failed to show up till Sunday. The CID officers are tight-lipped about the status of the investigation. Meanwhile, Cyberabad police had made substantial progress in the case relating to Vasireddy Chandrabala, a friend of Lakshminarayana's, whose CDR, too, was made public. It is learnt that Cyberabad commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has quizzed the suspended Nacharam inspector in the matter.

Nagarjuna Agrichem Closed: Govt Oreders Probe Into Accident

The government Andhra Pradesh has ordered for a probe into the blast that took place at Nagarjuna Agrichem Limited (NACL) plant which left 18 workers injured on Saturday. The factory has been since closed and the District collector G Venkatarami Reddy directed the inspector of factories to take steps for closing the factory under the provisions of the Factories Act. He also ordered an inquiry by additional joint collector Rajkumar to look into the circumstances that led to the mishap. The closure notice would be in force till further orders. Sources said the officials took action after thousands of factory workers, villagers, party workers and environmental groups staged a dharna on the Chennai-Kolkata national highway at Chilakapalem junction close to the plant, demanding the immediate closure of the plant. They protested near the main gate of the plant disrupting traffic for three hours and threatened to intensify the stir if the authorities did not take action against the NACL management. They said the NACL plant was causing depletion of ground water and polluting the environment of nearby villages. Meanwhile, doctors at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences at Srikakulam said that all the injured were out of danger. The factory caught fire after a blast inside the plant, which later spread across the plant. Around 200 workers were present at the plant when the fire broke out. Sources said that 30 employees, who work near the blast spot usually, were away for breakfast at that time. The plant, which was established about 20 years ago manufactures pesticides and agricultural chemicals.

Euro Cup Final: Spain vs Italy Preview

Euro Cup Final 2012: Spain boss Vicente del Bosque is expected to have a fully-fit squad for the Euro 2012 final showdown with Italy. The 61-year-old`s biggest selection dilemma is likely to be over whether to field a recognised striker after Alvaro Negredo`s anonymous performance in the semi-final win over Portugal.     With Fernando Torres seemingly out of favour, and with Fernando Llorente yet to make an appearance at the tournament, Cesc Fabregas could be restored to a `false nine` role up front alongside Andres Iniesta and David Silva. Italy defender Ignazio Abate, who missed the semi-final win over Germany with a muscle injury, is likely to return to fitness in time for the final, while fellow full-back Christian Maggio is also available after serving a one-match ban. Coach Cesare Prandelli may persist with the same formation that served him well against the Germans rather than revert to the unorthodox 3-5-2 line-up used in the opening match against Spain. AC Milan-bound Riccardo Montolivo is likely to keep his place in the team ahead of Thiago Motta after an assured performance in the semi-final. Key Facts: . Spain are bidding to become the first team in history to win three successive major tournaments (Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012) and the first to retain the Henri Delaunay trophy. . La Roja are contesting their fourth European Championship final (1964, 1984, 2008 and 2012). They have lost just one (1984). . Vicente del Bosque`s side are 19 competitive games without defeat and have won their last nine knockout matches at major tournaments without conceding a goal. . However, the Iberian outfit have not registered a competitive win over Italy in nearly a century (with their penalty shoot-out success in the quarter-final of Euro 2008 classed as a draw). Their record in 11 previous meetings is W1, D5, L5, with the sole victory coming in the sides` first ever encounter at the 1920 Olympic games. . Italy are competing in their third European Championship final (1968, 2000, 2012). They have won just one (1968). . The Azzurri are facing Spain for the 31st time, with their record in prior encounters reading W10, D12, L8. The sides` most recent meeting was in their opening match in this tournament, which finished as a 1-1 draw. . Italy have won just two of their last eight matches in regulation time, but are yet to lose a competitive fixture under Cesare Prandelli. . With his double against Germany, Mario Balotelli (pictured right) became the first Italian to score three goals at a single European championship.

Ketan's father, Raghuveer Reddy is an ophthalmologist who runs a private clinic in the city. "He did not want me to become a doctor as my elder sister had opted for the same profession. My family wanted me to be an engineer but my interest was in medical sciences and I followed my dream," said Ketan who is planning to join Gandhi Medical College. The topper in engineering, Chinta Nitish Chandra said he is interested in computer engineering. "I have still not decided which college to choose from as I have cleared national entrance examinations as well," Chandra said.

2012 Wimbledon: Nadal Stunned by Rosol in Thriller

Czech Lukas Rosol beat second seed Rafa Nadal 6-7 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4 in the Wimbledon second round to complete one of the biggest ever upsets on Thursday. The world number 100, making his Wimbledon debut, overpowered the Spanish second seed who was seeking his third title at the All England Club with an inspired display on Centre Court.   "I never expected something like this," Rosol said. "I am very sorry for him but I hope I can play one more match like this. I played my best match ever. It means so much for me." Nadal looked on course to reach the third round in routine fashion when he came through a marathon first-set tiebreak 11-9. But Rosol, who has never gone beyond the third round of a grand slam, broke serve in the opening game of the second set and stunned Nadal with a succession of inspired winners from all over the court. Nadal was powerless to stem the tide and was clearly upset by the 26-year-old Czech's aggressive style but he dug in to break serve at the start of the fourth set and repeated the feat to level at two sets all. Officials decided to close the Centre Court roof to enable the match to be finished. After a half-hour delay the players returned and Rosol immediately broke Nadal's serve. He continued to subject the world No 2 to a barrage of aces and outrageous winners to set up a third-round match against German Philipp Kohlschreiber. It was the first time Nadal had lost before the third round of a grand slam since he was beaten by Gilles Mueller in the second round at Wimbledon in 2005.
