Virat Kohli surpasses Ganguly and Dhoni
Virat Kohli recorded his second double-century on the second day of the third Test against New Zealand in Indore on Sunday, guiding India to 446/3. Kohli has become the first Indian captain to record two such milestones in Test cricket. Three India captains have more Test centuries than Kohli, who now has six centuries since being elevated to Test captaincy.
Sunil Gavaskar,11, Mohammad Azharuddin, 9 and Sachin Tendulkar, 7, are the ones ahead of Kohli. MAK Pataudi, Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni hit five centuries during their captaincy stint. However, Kohli averages the highest among all India captains. Kohli's last hundred came when he slammed his maiden double ton in the West Indies in July.
He has since struggled with scores of 44, 3, 4, 9, 18, 9, 45. He averaged 18.85 in his last seven innings, since his 200 in Antigua. Kohli had a great chance to have the highest score by a captain, which is held by MS Dhoni (224) but fell on 211 just after tea break, trapped lbw by Jeetan Patel.
