Karan Johar is expanding Dharma Productions’ theatrical slate with two ambitious projects that explore the creature genre in different ways. According to a news reports, the production house is planning a large-scale creature feature with mythological undertones and a high-concept creature comedy, with both films expected to go on floors by the end of 2026.
One of the two films will reportedly be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sandeep Modi, known for Aarya and The Night Manager. The project is said to be mounted on a grand scale, with Dharma Productions placing considerable confidence in its concept. The casting details of both films are currently under wraps.
The report also suggests that one of the projects could be announced through a video unit screened alongside Ramayana during Diwali. If that happens, the announcement could offer the first glimpse into Karan Johar’s plans for these ambitious ventures.

Dharma Productions has been expanding beyond its familiar romantic dramas and family entertainers, with projects such as Kao, Radha Krishna and Gadadhari Bheem also part of its upcoming slate. The two creature-based films further underline the banner’s interest in high-concept storytelling and large-scale theatrical spectacles.
Meanwhile, Dharma is preparing for the release of Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, while Kuku Ki Kundali and Lag Ja Gale are among its other films lined up for 2027. With two distinct creature films reportedly moving towards production, Karan Johar is looking to widen the range of stories Dharma brings to the big screen.
