Will Mahesh Babu Try A Sports Drama After Varanasi?
Mahesh Babu is currently fully focused on Varanasi and the actor has not accepted any new film yet. But that has not stopped industry gossip from beginning discussions around what kind of film he could choose next. According to trade chatter, Mahesh is said to be interested in trying a sports drama with an intriguing storyline after completing his current commitment. However, there is no confirmation about any narration being locked or the actor committing to a project. Interestingly, reports also suggest that Mahesh could consider collaborations with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prashanth Neel depending on how schedules and development shape up in the coming months. At the same time, the stronger industry talk remains that Mahesh is in no hurry to announce his next. Reports indicate that the actor wants to wait and see how Varanasi performs globally before taking a call on the direction of his immediate future lineup. For now, the sports drama discussion remains industry gossip. But if it turns true, it could mark a genre space Mahesh has not fully explored at this scale before. Is Paradise Facing OTT Release Pressure?
Natural Star Nani has accepted his most ambitious film, The Paradise in the direction of Srikanth Odela, post Dasara. But the movie is currently becoming a headache for him and producer state Industry gossip. According to the reports, the director wants time to complete the film but OTT giant Netflix, wants them to release by September. Well, the movie shoot started with 27th March release date as the goal but the director has asked for more time and makers shifted to 21st August. But even that date is said to be impossible to meet. Peddi vs The Paradise clash became a discussing point when both locked same weekend in March but Peddi had to bow down to OTT and theatrical rights pressures to release in June. It is stated that Peddi makers before finalising edit, wanted some time to go for re-shoots but then considering over budget issues and pressure about losing OTT rights amount, they released it on 4th June. Interestingly, The Paradise too is looking at such pressure and problems. According to recent reports, Srikanth Odela has to finish still 60 more shooting days work before the team can take entire film to edit table and fast track post production. So, they have unofficially given up on 21st August release date too. While they are looking at December, the OTT giant, Netflix has asked them to stick to their pre-fixed window and release by September. Further delay would force them to cut down price for rights. Producers cannot afford such a hit as the movie budget, which was already highest in Nani's career, has ballooned up due to delays. So, the producer has asked Srikanth Odela to plan and finish work by September for at least Dusshera festival release. We have to wait and see, how things will proceed further. Will Dhanush Really Clash With Rajinikanth and Simbu?
Industry gossip around Diwali 2026 release plans has started creating unusual curiosity in Tamil cinema circles. Reports indicate that Jailer 2 is being looked at for the festive season while Dhanush’s D55 and Silambarasan TR’s Arasan are also said to be considering the same release window. Diwali has traditionally been one of the biggest seasons for Tamil cinema and major stars always try to position themselves for the holiday advantage. But what has reduced in recent years is direct confrontation between films carrying this level of star value. That is where this discussion becomes interesting. Rajinikanth releases generally create their own space in the market. Screen allocation, distributor preference and audience attention tend to naturally move towards Superstar films. Because of that, open clashes with Rajinikanth vehicles have become increasingly uncommon from many years. If the current discussions hold, this would not simply become another festive box office clash. It would place two major stars of the present generation — Dhanush and Simbu — in direct competition with one of Tamil cinema’s biggest theatrical forces. Of course, release calendars can shift and none of the projects have to necessarily stay locked to one date. But for now, the possibility itself has become the talking point. More than collections, the industry is curious to see whether Dhanush and Simbu will really hold ground if Jailer 2 officially enters the same festive corridor. Prashanth Neel and Nag Ashwin plan big pre-release videos?
Prashanth Neel is directing Jr. NTR in his big blockbuster film, Dragon. He decided to release a 4 minutes teaser that establishes the story and characters. On the other hand Nag Ashwin released Prabhas character Bhairava and Bujji series prior to Kalki 2898 AD release to establish the relation between the car and bounty hunter. Now, it is being said that Prashanth Neel wants to expand on characters of the film and release short videos about each character's origin before the release. As it would help audiences to understand the world and story, emotions better the makers are planning about bringing such interesting videos. Nag Ashwin is also planning to clearly explain character origins of Supreme Leader Yaskin, Bhairava and origin of Complex, before Kalki sequel release. There could be a video or series to re-introduce Sumathi character being played a new lead actress, after Deepika Padukone's exit. But none of these are confirmed yet. Industry gossip states that the producers are keen to make such changes and arrangements that would help audiences understand the film and raise anticipation. As regular promotional campaigns are proving to be ineffective, these innovations are needed. Salman and Farhan in discussions for a film?
Salman Khan reportedly being in talks with Farhan Akhtar for a large-scale period drama has created curiosity for obvious reasons. But beyond the scale and genre, the combination carries another emotional layer that Indian cinema audiences may instantly connect with. Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar remain one of the most iconic writer duos Indian cinema has ever produced. Their partnership helped shape mainstream Hindi cinema with films that continue to influence generations. Decades later, seeing Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar come together for a film creates an unexpected continuation of that legacy. Of course, the reported project has no direct connection to the legendary Salim-Javed collaborations. But cinema has always carried emotional associations beyond credits and contracts. The idea of Salim Khan’s son headlining a film associated with Javed Akhtar’s family naturally creates a nostalgic value for audiences who grew up celebrating that era. Interestingly, both Salman and Farhan have built distinct identities away from their fathers’ shadows. Yet a collaboration between them could still feel symbolic — almost like two cinematic lineages crossing paths on screen. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet. But if the project materialises, the nostalgia surrounding the combination may become as big a talking point as the film itself. Jana Nayagan release confusion grows further
Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's last film Jana Nayagan has been facing release issues from past 7 months. It was locked for Pongal release but the movie had been facing censor issues. Even after elections and Vijay forming the Government, the movie did not get the censor certificate. Now, the reports suggest that the movie team had been asked to return distributors' amounts by Vijay. As per his recommendation, KVN Productions have started planning the funds and have decided to return to everyone on 22nd June. In the meantime, they have received an update that by 19th June, they would receive the certificate. Sources state that KVN Prodcutions have forwarded the same information to Vijay and distributors. If they receive the certificate, they will plan for 26th June release and there is no need to return amounts. If they do not, then on 22nd June, they will return amounts and Vijay promised to return his complete remuneration. It looks the release confusion surrounding the supposedly final film of Vijay seems to be growing each day. Reports keep suggesting that KVN Productions are having tough time with Toxic also being held back from release. Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Prakash Raj have performed in other leading roles in this Vijay's swansong. Mani Ratnam Decides To Wait For Sai Pallavi
Mani Ratnam is known for moving swiftly with his projects and rarely waiting for actors to align schedules. Over the years, the director has often changed casting plans or moved to different subjects whenever delays affected development timelines. But this time, the veteran filmmaker appears to have made an exception. According to industry sources, Mani Ratnam has decided to wait for Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi to become available instead of reworking the project with another combination. The development has generated curiosity as it reflects the filmmaker’s confidence in the pairing and the world being developed around them. Sai Pallavi is currently occupied with Ramayana, which has emerged as one of Indian cinema’s biggest ongoing productions and is taking up a major portion of her schedule. Vijay Sethupathi, on the other hand, is understood to have prioritised his commitment to director Kruthika Udayanidhi’s film before moving to Mani Ratnam’s project. The decision stands out particularly because Mani Ratnam has traditionally been known to adapt quickly rather than hold projects for long periods waiting for dates. With both actors balancing packed schedules, sources suggest the filmmaker is willing to begin production only after Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi become available, making this one of the rare occasions where Mani Ratnam has chosen patience over replacing actors and moving ahead. Is Alia Bhatt Joining Prabhas In Kalki 2?
Reports about Alia Bhatt joining Kalki 2 have started circulating online and have quickly become one of the most discussed developments around the sequel. According to recent reports, the actress has been approached for a key role in the expanding world of Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic and is believed to have already shot portions for the film. However, an official confirmation from the makers is still awaited. The speculation has generated curiosity largely because Kalki 2898 AD already established a star-heavy universe with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone playing major roles. Reports suggesting Alia’s addition also gained attention after earlier rumours around changes in casting for the sequel, although previous reports had maintained that Deepika continues to remain an important part of the franchise. If the development materialises, this would mark Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin. Interestingly, Alia is already entering a larger-scale commercial phase with projects like Alpha and Love & War, while Kalki 2 continues to shape itself as one of Indian cinema’s biggest upcoming franchises. With no official announcement yet, the current update remains in the stage of strong industry buzz. But the possibility of adding another major star to the Kalki universe has already become a talking point among audiences waiting for the sequel. Is Toxic Planning For Sankranti Release?
Ever since Yash starrer Toxic moved away from its earlier release plans, industry circles have been actively discussing a new possible release window for the Yash starrer. The latest speculation suggests that the makers are considering a Sankranti 2027 release, a season traditionally dominated by Telugu big-ticket entertainers. The discussion gained momentum as several reports linked the shift to the film’s changing release schedule. However, as of now, there has been no official announcement from the makers confirming any release date. Reports regarding delays and large-scale reshoots have also been denied by the production team recently, stating that the project remains on track. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups remains one of the most anticipated pan-India projects with Yash returning after KGF. The film has maintained curiosity largely because the makers have revealed very little about the story while continuing to build intrigue around its visual world. Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Kiara Advani are playing leading ladies in the film. If Toxic eventually locks the Sankranti corridor, it could make the festive season far more competitive across markets. But will the makers choose Sankranti season depends on Mega158 - Chiranjeevi and Bobby Kolli film also eyeing the same season as the movie is produced by KVN Productions. Prabhas takes a break from Spirit to complete Fauji
Prabhas appears to be making a clear shift in priorities over the next few months. According to industry buzz, the actor has reportedly decided to dedicate nearly three months exclusively to completing Fauji before moving on to Spirit. The move is said to be aimed at ensuring the film stays on track for its planned December release and avoids delays despite Prabhas’ packed lineup. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauji has been generating attention not because of scale alone but because of the character being designed for Prabhas. Reports suggest the role demands multiple shades and moves away from a straightforward mass-action template. Set in the pre-Independence period, the film reportedly follows a soldier’s journey across different phases, requiring the actor to portray emotional transitions and changing dynamics rather than relying purely on larger-than-life hero moments. The character is said to combine intensity, vulnerability and transformation across the narrative. That appears to be one of the reasons behind Prabhas reportedly choosing to finish Fauji first instead of splitting schedules between projects. Completing the film in a focused schedule could help the makers maintain momentum for a December release before the actor shifts attention to Spirit. Is Naga Vamsi bringing Nelson and Suriya together?
Tamil gossip reports are rampant about Suriya and Nelson could be coming together for a film. After delivering a blockbuster with Karuppu, Suriya is looking at working with a light-hearted action film. It is reported that he is going to work with Tha.Se. Gnanavel, in a highly intense film about 5 Rupee Doctor. After such an intense tale, he feels a film with Nelson would be perfect. Currently, he is busy shooting for his next with Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan. After finishing this film, he will join Gnanavel's film. Reports also state that Naga Vamsi, who produced Vishwanath and Sons with Suriya might also produce this big film. According to the reports, Nelson has accepted to direct a film for Naga Vamsi's Sithara Productions and hence, he is looking to set this project. Previously, NTR and Nelson are supposed to work together but with director's commitment to Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Rajni x Kamal Haasan projects, this one might take further time. NTR also needs to finish Dragon and possible high budget mythological film with Trivikram Srinivas before he can come to this one. Well, Tamil media reports believe that Nelson and Suriya could come together for the actor's 50th film. Ravi Teja and Hari to unite For an Action Film?
Ravi Teja is said to be in discussion with Hari for an unapologetic mass commerical action entertainer. For Telugu audiences, Hari hardly needs an introduction. The director built his identity with high-energy commercial films like Singham, Aaru, Vel and Saamy. His films known for aggressive pacing, emotional family conflicts and heroes who operate at maximum intensity. That is exactly why the combination is generating curiosity. Ravi Teja’s screen persona has often worked best in fast-moving commercial setups with humour, action and loud character moments. A Hari film, if it materialises, could lean heavily into those strengths. At this stage, sources indicate discussions are still at an early level and no producer or schedule has been locked. Ravi Teja is currently occupied with existing commitments including Irumudi, directed by Shiva Nirvana. If this project moves forward, it could easily become one of the more interesting mass combinations to watch out for. Ravi Teja is also said to be in discussions with directors like Vivek Athreya and other talented youngsters for his upcoming projects. Buzz: Akhil Lenin postponed to July?
Akhil Akkineni's Lenin has started building good momentum and buzz with recent promotional campaign that has been attached to Peddi in theatres. While the movie maintained a dangerously low profile, this campaign did bring in more attention than the songs from S Thaman. Riding high on this wave, many thought the movie would see good opening on 26th June but the latest industry buzz is that the movie had to be delayed to July 10th, due to last minute corrections in VFX and CG. As these tweaks do take time, the makers - mainly Nagarjuna Akkineni - have willingly agreed to push for two weeks more. None of the reports are officially confirmed and the makers could just trash these reports and movie could release on 26th June, as planned. But the gossip is strong and indicating that there is a post production delay. The promotional campaign will aggressively start post makers arrive a clarification about the release date. Bhagyashri Borse is playing the leading lady in this movie. Naga Vamshi and Nagarjuna are producing the films. Speculations are everywhere about Akhil playing a visibly challenged person in the film but the makers did not confirm it. Mohanlal and Mammootty to come together for another film?
A rumour involving Mohanlal and Mammootty is enough to set Malayalam cinema discussions on fire — and that is exactly what is happening with Padayatra. Fresh reports circulating in film circles suggest that Mohanlal could be associated with the project in some capacity. Further adding to the excitement, reports are leading to speculation about a possible collaboration with Mammootty. While there has been no official confirmation so far, the mere possibility has become a major talking point among fans. The excitement around such reports comes from the rarity of seeing Malayalam cinema’s two biggest stars connected to the same project. Their occasional collaborations have always carried an event-like appeal, making even early-stage rumours enough to trigger widespread interest. At the centre of this discussion is Padayatra, a project that was already drawing attention for its creative ambitions and Mammootty’s involvement. The latest chatter has now shifted focus from the film itself to whether audiences could witness another moment featuring two of Malayalam cinema’s most influential names. For now, nothing has been officially announced. But the reaction to the speculation once again underlines a familiar reality — in Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal and Mammootty together remains an idea powerful enough to dominate conversations even before a single frame is revealed. Rajasekhar to play antagonist for NBK?
Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently busy with NBK111, but discussions have already shifted towards his next project with director Koratala Siva. While the film is yet to be officially launched, interesting speculation about the casting has already started doing rounds in film circles. According to ongoing gossip reports, senior actor Dr. Rajasekhar is being considered to play the antagonist in the film. Though there is no official confirmation yet, the buzz has generated curiosity as it would mark an exciting face-off if materialised. Rajasekhar’s intense screen presence opposite Balakrishna is being seen as an interesting combination. Interestingly, NBK111 itself is reportedly following a similar route, with Manchu Manoj said to be playing the antagonist role. If that turns out to be true, Balakrishna appears to be consciously exploring films that feature prominent heroes and established actors in key parts rather than relying on conventional villain casting. The trend is becoming increasingly visible among senior stars as well. Rajinikanth recently shared screen space with Nagarjuna in Coolie, while Chiranjeevi is doing the same with Venkatesh in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. If Rajasekhar joins Koratala Siva’s project, Balakrishna too would be continuing that approach of bringing strong star value from both sides of the conflict. NBK – Vivek Athreya Film Discussions Still On?
Reports about a possible collaboration between Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Vivek Athreya have been creating curiosity among audiences for some time now. Recently, rumours started circulating that Balakrishna was not impressed with Vivek Athreya’s idea and the project had been dropped. However, latest reports suggest that there is no truth in such speculation. Discussions between the actor and director are said to be progressing in the right direction and the project has not been shelved. While things are moving positively, sources indicate that the film is still in discussion stage and major decisions are yet to be finalised. This appears to be one of the reasons why there has been no official communication from the makers till now. The team is reportedly taking time to develop the project properly before making any announcement. So, fans expecting an immediate confirmation may have to wait a little longer. At this point, an official announcement may not come anytime soon, but reports strongly suggest that conversations are definitely happening and the collaboration remains very much on the table.
