Sonia nominates Mallikarjun Kharge as LS floor leader

In a surprise move, Congress party president Sonia Gandhi has nominated senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge as the leader of the party in Lok Sabha. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, who were elected to Lok Sabha from Raibareli and Amethi simultaneously are reluctant to lead the party in Lok Sabha, bowing to growing pressures for their step down from the party posts. Initially, they picks senior Congress leader Kamalnath for this post, but have to pick Mallikarjun after the NDA government has appointed as preterm speaker of Lok Sabha.
