Modi saves DD cameraman from danger

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday Inaugurated the first phase of Saurashtra Narmada Avataran Irrigation Yojana (SAUNI), that is set to bring water from Narmada to the otherwise largely parched region of Saurashtra could very well boost the ruling party's prospects in next year's Gujarat assembly elections. While Conceptualised by Modi during as Gujarat chief minister in September 2012, the SAUNI Yojana is aimed at providing surplus water from Narmada river to Saurashtra region. The project has envisaged use of 43,500 million cubic feet (mcft) flood water of Narmada for the region to supplement about 115 existing dams in the interest of farmers and people.

 

The alertness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of a water project near here on Tuesday saved the lives of several cameramen and photographers, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel informed. An alert PM Modi saved a Doordarshan camera person from getting washed away by the dam water earlier today. At a function in Gujarat to release water from the Aji Dam, the PM kept pointing to the camera person and gesticulated for him to move away from his camera. The cameraman realized what the PM was trying to convey to him and fled, leaving the camera behind. Busy taking photographs of the event, the cameramen and photographers were seemingly unaware of it. But by clapping his hands and with other gestures the Prime Minister alerted them and they escaped in time. Immediately after he fled, the water rushed in around the camera, knocking it down.
