Heavy rains in Hyd; 7 Dead; Hussain Sagar level raising

 

Heavy rains lashed the capital city causing havoc all over. Heavy rains on Wednesday morning caused waterlogging in many areas and massive traffic jams all over the city, leading to people getting stuck on the roads. Hyderabad witnessed a downpour reaching upto 95.75mm in two hours. Officials advised people to stay indoors between 9.30 and 11.30 am. The situation has improved since with the city reporting only a moderate downpour now. Water levels are rising in Hyderabad's in Hussain Sagar lake after the city witnessed heavy downpour on Wednesday morning even as authorities have issued warning to people residing in low-lying areas.

 

The National capital also witnessed a similar story. Massive jams were reported from major roads between the capital and Gurgaon, where the police had warned people early in a tweet to be "patient and disciplined" and "stick to lanes". US Secretary of State John Kerry, whose visits to religious sites in Delhi were cancelled, joked at IIT: "You must've needed boats to get here." He was caught in rain-hit traffic also on Monday, when he arrived. Army Chief General Dalbir Singh was also stuck in traffic for an hour. Photos tweeted by users showed cars stuck in rising waters and massive jams. Police regularly issued traffic advisories on social media for commuters across Hyderabad, putting up lists of roads to avoid and precautions while negotiating waterlogging.
