Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy, former minister and long time rival of the chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy in Chittoor district politics, has taken the ultimate step of resigning from Punganoor assembly seat.

He is likely to meet the speaker today to submit his resignation. It may be recalled that he has been uneasy eversince Kiran Kumar Reddy got the jackpot of heading the government in the state about two years ago.

Peddireddy had announced two weeks ago that he would resign from assembly if the Congress high command did not remove Kiran from the post before 30 Nov.

However, the party has reacted too quickly and sharply for the latest decision of Peddireddy, unlike the case of other senior leaders for whom the party showed the doors openly.

It is reported that the union minister Jaipal Reddy had called Peddireddy to ask him not to take the decision in haste. The senior leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana and D.Srinivas have also called Peddireddy to request him to reconsider his decision.

However, Peddireddy has said that he would stay in the party. Despite the statement, the political analysts are concluding that Peddireddy may join the Jagan’s party if Kiran stays in the CM post for another two to three months.

There are too many leaders in the state having rivalry with Kiran Kumar Reddy at present. But, all of them had developed the same after Kiran became the chief minister.

But, the case of Peddireddy is different from all  of those. The rivalry between him and Kiran Kumar Reddy is some decades old in Chittoor district. And all these has resulted in the resignation of Peddireddy finally.
