Though it is quite common practice of changing Governors whenever a new government at Centre comes to power, NDA government has spared the axe until now as it is engaged with some other tasks. However, finally Home Minister Rajnath Singh gave a clear signal to all the Governors appointed by UPA government that it is time for them to quit their posts. Uttar Pradesh governor BL Joshi promptly responding to his call sent his resignation letter immediately.
Dewanand (Triupura), K Shankara Narayanan (Maharashtra), Dr. DY Patel (Bihar), Margeret Alwa (Rajasthan), M K Narayanan (West Bengal), JP Patnaik (Asssam), Jagannath Panda (Haryana), Kamla Beniwal (Gujarat), K. Rosaiah (Tamilnadu), Shiela Dikshit (Kerala) and HR Bharadwaj (Karnataka) were reported to be asked to step down. Karnataka and Assom governors are said to be not in a mood to step down. However, Andhra and Telangana states Governor Narasimhan may not be asked to step down because, he was given additional charge of Telangana on June 2nd with NDA government consent.
