IPL 5 2012: An impressive all-round performance helped Delhi Daredevils retain their top position in the points table as Virender Sehwag and Co beat Mumbai Indians by 37 runs at the Ferozshah Kotla in New Delhi on Friday.
In reply to Delhi's 207/5, Mumbai Indians struggled early on after wickets fell at regular intervals and ended up scoring to 170/9 in 20 overs. In a return leg match, Delhi managed to overpower Mumbai once again to go three points clear at the top of the table. Daredevils have now won six in eight games with 12 points while Mumbai remain at seventh spot.
Mumbai Indians top-order batsmen slumped again after losing three quick wickets for just 19 runs. Sachin Tendulkar's(7) innings was cut-short by Morne Morkel while Irfan Pathan dismissed opener Aiden Blizzard (0) and Rohit Sharma(12).
Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik lifted the visitors hope with a steady 96 run stand for the fourth wicket after early shocks. Veteran pacer Ajit Agarkar bowled out Karthik who scored 40 off 28 balls with 7 fours. A few overs later, Delhi's spin sensation Shahbaz Nadeem claimed the dangerous Ambati Rayudu (39-ball 62) who smashed three sixes and five boundaries. Nadeem bowled out all-rounder Kieron Pollard to bring Delhi closer to victory.
