Indian prisoner Sarabjit left to his death in hospital

Indian national Sarabjit Singh, who was imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail, in Pakistan and facing death sentence for his involvement in a string of bombings in Punjab in 1990, was assaulted by the inmates in the jail on yesterday. He was immediately rushed to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. Doctors said his condition is very critical because there was extensive internal bleeding in the brain, which need an immediate surgery, but couldn’t perform now as he is in deep coma stage. It is evident that if a person left with internal bleeding in brain will ends-up with death only.

Soon after India hangs Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab and Afjal Guru, there was growing demand for Sarabjit’s death sentence in Pakistan. However, his mercy petition is still pending with Pakistan President.

Owais Sheikh, representing Sarabjit Singh has told the Indian Media that there was a constant threat to his life after the hanging of Afzal Guru in India in February 2013. He said he had also filed an application to provide security to his client owing to these threats. He argues that his client’s conviction and imprisonment is an “extraordinary miscarriage of justice”.

Therefore the inmates and the jail officials might have developed hatred towards Sarabjit Singh and finally took revenge on other way by assaulting him in the jail.
