UPA Govt. caught red-hand in coal scam report

Once again, the UPA government has gone through an embarrassing situation over tampering CBI report by Law Minister Ashwini Kumar of coal mine scam. While, the opposition is rocking the Parliament demanding for his resignation, UPA government maintains a stubborn attitude towards opposition demand. It denies making any mistake by its minister.

However, CBI director Ranjit Sinha in his latest affidavit filed in the Supreme Court has confirmed that he has shared the CBI reports with Law Minister. He also revealed that the report has been shared with joint secretary level officers of Prime Minister’s office and Ministry of Coal also. He has asserted the court that he will not share any reports with any others in future. However, he did not clarify whether the Law Minister Ashwini Kumar has tampered the reports or not. Probably, he might be intentionally ignored this point to avert further embarrassment to himself and to the government. He may be decided to spell it out only if the court asks for it.

Earlier, CBI has filed an affidavit in the same court represented by additional solicitor general Harin Raval, in which it categorically stated that no reports were ever shared with any outsider.

Hence, the latest affidavit submitted by CBI director Ranjit Sinha, pushes the UPA to a corner and gives a powerful weapon to opposition parties to intensify their demand for Law Minister resignation. However, UPA government has reiterated that there is no question of resigning by its Law Minister. This indicates that even the Parliament can’t oblige the government to succumb to its pressures and Supreme Court alone can efficiently handle such matters.
