Rahul may not take Congress reins this year?

Former union minister Jairam Ramesh gives an interesting clue about his party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s future plans. Speaking to media, he said “Rahul Gandhi will take charge of the Congress Party in the next year. There is no difference of opinions among the party leaders about his leadership.”

Hence, it is to be understood that indeed still there are difference of opinions among the party leaders and thus he is not taking charge of the party in the upcoming elections for party president post. Actually, he went on leave for two months because of the same problem and was believed to be returned home after getting assurance from his mother Sonia Gandhi that no one will oppose him, if he wants to take charge of the Congress Party.

But, Jairam Ramesh’s latest statement is revealing that he will not be made as Congress Party president because there is no consensus among the party leaders on his leadership. Hence, Sonia Gandhi may continue to be Congress President for one more year. If so, Rahul Gandhi has to prove that he is eligible to succeed her in the next 24 months of apprentice period. If, Rahul Gandhi fails to take the party charge this year, it will provide enough weapons to the ruling BJP and the Congress rival parties to make fun of him and his Congress party.
