  • Virat will take Indian Cricket to new heights

    Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently the number one Test bowler in the world believes there is no one word which can sum up Kohli and is confident that he will take Indian cricket to new heights. Ravichandran Ashwin said there was no one adjective to describe Virat Kohli but said the Indian run-machine is a role-model for him. Kohli has been in sensational form this year, smashing runs across all three formats. He has so far blasted three hundreds and three fifties in ODIs and scored two double hundreds in Test cricket. The 27-year-old was also at his imperious best in T20 cricket, hammering three successive fifties in the T20 series before turning his focus on the Asia Cup T20 and the World T20. "Just like Virat has mastered the art of scoring hundreds, I'd want to master the art of picking five-wicket hauls," Ashwin stated. Ashwin himself has been in great form and hails Kohli's ability to chase down targets as a great blessing to the team.

    Four dead in Australian theme park ride accident

    In a horrific accident four people have been killed on a ride at a theme park on Australia's Gold Coast. A "malfunction" caused two of the victims to be "ejected" and two others to be "caught inside" the ride, Queensland Ambulance spokesperson Gavin Fuller said. The statement on Twitter from the Theme park read, "We are deeply shocked and saddened by today’s accident; our hearts and thoughts go to the families involved and their loved ones". The park in Coomera has been closed and an investigation is under way, the spokeswoman added. "Dreamworld is working as quickly as possible to establish the facts around the incident and is working closely with emergency authorities and police to do this," the company said in the statement. The Prime Minister said, "This is a very very sad and tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives. We trust there will be a very thorough investigation into the causes of this incident in the days that follow".

    Change the model of development: RSS

    Hyderabad: On Monday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said that, India’s development model should be replaced with a new version based on “Integral Humanism” concept which has been put forward by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, an ideologue of Jan Sangh. Manmohan Vaidya, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS said that those who realize that western development model was fractured were looking towards our country as it had always had a holistic approach, adding that, each and every country’s development model must be unique and fitting all of them in the same type of model was causing complications.  

    Army refuses Karan Johar's 5Crs??

    The producers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had recently met with MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis to resolve the issue of the Bollywood release during Diwali. Maharashtra CM Fadnavis said he mediated so that no tension brews during the festive season. MNS had threatened to incite violence at the multiplexes which screened Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, because it has Pakistan actor Fawad Khan playing one of the significant roles. The CM said, "At the meeting, it was producer Karan Johar who expressed his desire to make a contribution of Rs 5 crore towards the welfare of the families of the martyred soldiers. To which I categorically said there should be no such compulsion. Yet, if you want to show your deshbhakti, there is the Army welfare relief fund where you can help." But reports say that the "Army will not accept donation of Rs 5 crore offered by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions ahead of 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' release". Several ex-Armymen and veterans had been vocal about how the army should not be made a part of the scheme of local party politics.

    Suggest new sources of income: Rajiv Sharma

    Hyderabad: On Monday, a meeting has been held with the all the departments’ senior officials by the Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma asking them to provide suggestions to raise the income of the government of Telangana as it is struggling to release the dues of fee reimbursement, Arogyasri and crop loan waiver scheme. The ministers as well as the officials were also directed by the chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekar Rao to examine the reasons that caused these situations.  

    Ratan Tata replaces Cyrus Mistry as Tata chairman

    The board of Tata Sons announced the sudden removal of chairman Cyrus Mistry. Unlike several other Tata Group chiefs who worked and rose through the ranks of the group companies, Mistry was handed over a legacy he did not help create. Ratan Tata, patriarch of one of India's most influential families, will take over as interim chairman of Tata Sons. Tata, who had stepped down as chairman and was replaced by Mistry in late 2012, will head the group for four months while the company seeks a replacement.The board said in a statement on Monday it was decided "it may be appropriate to consider a change for the long-term interest of Tata Sons and Tata group." Shares of Tata Group companies opened weak on Tuesday, a day after the board of Tata Sons announced the sudden removal of chairman Cyrus Mistry. Shares of Tata Steel were trading at Rs.415.50, down Rs.10.70 or 2.51 per cent during the opening trades. Similarly, software major TCS lost Rs.17.90 or 0.74 per cent to trade at Rs.2,409.95.

    GHMC builds new public toilets.

    Hyderabad: New public toilets would be built by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in the mode of build-own-transfer at twenty five different locations. On Sunday B Janardhan Reddy, the Commissioner of GHMC spoke with the toilet operators and said that they would construct new infrastructure. Toilets must have separate entrance for women and men besides constructing ramps for physically disabled, he said adding that, they had floated request for proposals to build new public toilets with a service spirit and not on profit oriented lines.

    KCR calls on Governor ESL Narasimhan.

    Hyderabad: On Sunday, the governor of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana i.e., E S L Narsimhan has been called on by K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, at Raj Bhavan with a plea to hand over Andhra Pradesh Council buildings, Legislative Assembly and Secretariat to the state of Telangana. A copy of the resolution, which has been approved by the Cabinet two days back in reference with the same, has been handed over to the governor Narsimhan by the Chief Minister.

    TG CM promises to build a Brahmin Sadan.

    Hyderabad: On Sunday, a promise has been made by the chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekar Rao that a Brahmin Sadan i.e., a multiple purpose structure would be built to serve the necessities of the community of Brahmins on twelve acres of land in the city of Hyderabad. KCR on this context said, “The structure will serve as a centre for the welfare and the development of the Brahmin community”, adding “My family and I have a bond with the Brahmin community for decades and as Siddipet’s MLA he has built the first community hall for Brahmins”.

    RSS accuses CPM of committing murders.

    Hyderabad: On Sunday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh increased its risks against Trinamul Congress in the state of west Bengal and Communist parties in the state of Kerala by making accusations against these parties at a three-day national executive council meeting which has been organized in the city of Hyderabad. The communist parties and Trinamool government was accused by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh of committing assassinations and minority pacifying politics.

    I am not against Mallannasagar: Kodandaram

    Hyderabad: On Sunday, Prof Kodandaram, the chairman of TJAC participated in a strike which has been organized at Indira Park so as to emphasize TRS government’s anti-farmer policies and the difficulties that are being faced by  the farmers. On this context MR Kodandaram said that, he was not against Mallannasagar or any other project, but he was against government opting to vigorous land acquisition. The government must interact with the peasants, assure them and then acquire the lands, he said, invoking section 144 and deploying police was not correct.

    18 yr girl urges PM to enforce uniform code

    An 18-year-old girl, Arshiya Bagwan from Baramati, who was divorced by her husband through ‘triple talaq as per the Sharia Law’, narrated her ordeal at a press conference in Pune on Friday. has urged PM Narendra Modi to take immediate steps to bring uniform civil code to curb traditions which she says have "destroyed" generations of Muslim women. "I urge our PM to help women like me and stop this tradition of triple talaq which has destroyed lives of innumerable women," Arshiya, who hails from Baramati said. Arshiya Bagwan alleged that soon after her marriage two years ago, her in-laws started torturing her. She was sent back to her parents' house in Baramati town near Pune, where she received a divorce notice from her husband a few days back, with the word 'talaq' written three times. Narrating her ordeal in a press conference organised by Muslim Satya Shodhak Mandal here today, Arshiya said she was married to one Mohammad Kazim Bagwan, a vegetable trader in the city at a tender age of 16.

    Akhilesh sacks uncle Shivpal from cabinet

    Akhilesh Yadav the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister removed his father's favourite brother as a minister. For the second time in the last month, Akhilesh, the 43-year-old Chief Minister, fired uncle Shivpal Yadav as a minister, dramatically escalating the family drama that has enveloped the First Family of the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh just before the state votes. " The chief minister said in the meeting that whoever is close to Amar Singh cannot be in my cabinet," said Raju Yadav, a Mainpuri lawmaker who attended the meeting called by Akhilesh this morning. Last month Mulayam appointed Amar Singh the National General Secretary of the party, almost six years after he was removed from the party. Along with Shivpal, 61, three other ministers close to him have also been benched.   Shivpal Yadav said later in the day that Ram Gopal Yadav has been removed from his post of General Secretary "for colluding with the BJP." "Mulayam Yadav is my father. I'll serve him all my life. I don't want to split the party and will participate in the party's 25th anniversary celebrations on November 5," he said at a meeting today.

    Famous Dancer suffers heart attack on stage

    Actor and danseuse Ashwini Ekbote passed away Saturday late evening after she suffered a heart attack during a performance at a programme named ‘Natyatrividha’ at Bharat Natya Mandir. The 44-year-old, who had also acted in several plays, was performing at the Bharat Natyamandir in Pune in the evening when she collapsed on stage, a police official said. When she suffered the attack, she was performing with her co-artistes Reva Natu, Chinmay Joglekar and Anupama Barve-Kulkarni.An eminent name in the Marathi theatre scene, Ekbote's demise came as a shock to many who remember her as a dedicated individual obsessed with her art. Apart from being the face of television shows like Duheri, Radha Hi Bawari and Durva, Ekbote has also featured in regional movies like Debu, Danyavar Danka, Taptapadi among others. 

    Saudi Consulate is sought by KCR

    Hyderabad: On Saturday, Dr Saud Bin Mohammad Al Sati, the ambassador of Saudi Arabia was requested by the chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekar Rao, to set up Saudi’s consulate in the city of Hyderabad as SA had links with the city for a long period of time. Mr Al Sati on this context said, “Saudi’s government has similar view point about having a consulate in the city and it has already directed the ministries of commerce and finance to find out investment possibilities in the state of Telangana”.

    Discontent is brewing in TRS: Uttam Kumar

    Hyderabad: The chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao was challenged by the leaders of Telugu Desam party and Congress party on Saturday to go for by poll elections to know if KCR’s popularity was still intact or not. TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy on this context said that, there were reports of discontent brewing in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, with some of the MLAs ready to vandalize the chances of the party. “This is a recipe for a rout of TRS”, he added.

    JBKT has done injustice to the state

    Hyderabad: Grave areas have been identified by the subcommittee of Telangana State cabinet in which injustice has been done to the state of Telangana by Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal over sharing the waters of Kirshna River. The scope under section 89 of AP Reorganization Act which handles the distribution of Krishna River Water to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had been restricted by the tribunal. 1001 million cubic feet water which has been awarded to the undivided AP would be distributed to TG and AP by the tribunal now. 

    ‘India is a fav destination for investments’

    Hyderabad: On Saturday, union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that our country was the favorite destination for investment due to rise in Gross Domestic Product and growth in economy while the rest of the world was facing a plunge. Mr Naidu, while speaking at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s two-day conference, said that, the chartered accountants could do a great favor to India as they played a vital role in Income Declaration Scheme’s huge success.

    Case booked against the principal of DRSIS

    Hyderabad: A case has been registered by Petbasheerabad cops against DRS International School’s principal Gaurav Maurya for allegedly humiliating the students of the school. One of the parents alleged that even though all students make noise in the class only their child was targeted. Every time their child speaks the principal demoralizes her because of which their kid was being depressed. Cops registered a case basing on the parent’s complaint under Juvenile Justice Act Section 75 for harassing and humiliating the school’s students.
