Supreme court has once again expressed its views in favour of a floor test in Uttarakhand Assembly. Before adjourning for wednesday, the apex bench has today asked the Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi to appraise them about the feasibility of a floor test in the state. the Apex court has though earlier provided a stay on the judgement made by the Uttarakhand high court to revive the Uttarakhand assembly, it has raised various issues questioning the validity behind the rule of President's rule in the state. The court has of course expressed serious doubts whether it was necessary for the centre to impose President's rule in the Sate.
The latest remarks of the Apex court might certainly cause embarrassment to the centre, which has heard some harsh words from the High court of Uttarakhand regarding the President's rule. There was overall criticism that the centre has been misusing the Article 356 of the constitution to topple the elected governments and thereby forming a government of its own choice. This act was successfully carried in Arunachal Pradesh. But the present issue of Uttarakhand has of course back fired on the government with courts making serious remarks over the validity of its action.
