US-PAK F-16 deal to be cancelled

In what is seem to an embarrassing moment, US has yesterday announced that Pakistan should pay in full for obtaining the F-16 fighters. This decision has come up a few days after the US congressmen expressed their concern over the misuse of these fighters against India. India has of course has been opposing the F-16 deal right from the day it surfaced into the news. Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar has even expressed these concerns officially to his counterparts. Though Pakistan claims that these fighters were being obtained to counter terrorism in remote areas of the country, skeptics feel that such sophisticated weapons are not needed to repel terrorism.
As the concerns against the sale of these 8 F-16 fighters for mere 700 million $ were on raise, US has no option but to revoke the subsidy. It means that Pakistan should now be paying many times higher than the said price to obtain the fighters. This decision also seems to be taken at a crucial time when the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address the join session of US congress on June 8. That seems to be a great welcoming act for Modi!
