TDP and Congress grabs lion share in Panchayat elections

The verdict of the 1st phase Panchayat elections has almost come out. According to latest reports, Congress and TDP followers are leading in a neck to neck competition followed by YSRCP. TRS is trailing in the race.
The latest tally of different parties supported Sarpanches, who were declared won the race. TDP-400; Congress-379; YSRCP-266; TRS-59; Others-313; Left parties-12.
While Congress has shown a clear upper hand over at Vizianagaram, Karnool, Kareem Nagar and Nalgonda districts, it gave way to TDP at Srikakulam, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasham, Chittoor and in Ananthapur districts.
YSRCP is as expected has shown upper hand in Kadapa by winning 36, while letting Congress grab 20 and TDP 8 Sarpanch posts. It has given a tough competition to TDP in its strong hold Krishna district by winning 26 where as TDP has won just 25 only. It also won a good number of Sarpanch posts in Guntur(21); Nellore (24); Chittoor (57) but fails in Telangana reguion.
TRS has bagged 22 Sarpanch posts in Medak, which is highest of its record, while in all other districts it hardly made its presence felt. Final report on the Panchayat elections will be presented soon.
