Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who made a permanent place for herself in the Indian olympic history with a spectacular performance in the Rio Olympics 2016 was showered with gifts on her return back home. Among the gifts was a swanky BMW presented to her by Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. But reports coming in suggest that she is all set to return the BMW gifted to her by him, owing to maintenance issues. Dipa, who is the first ever female gymnast from India to have participated in Olympics, is contemplating to return the car to the original owner V Chamundeswaranath, president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association because of the high maintenance costs which come along with the luxury vehicle. Dipa and her family are facing a hard time trying to maintain such an expensive car on the narrow and broken streets of Agartala. She has been advised not to worry about maintaining the expensive gift and focus on the future challenges to come. Dipa’s coach, who spoke on her behalf in her absence said that it wasn’t just her decision a collective one by her family and him.
