It is really unbelievable. US based Cognizant software company having its branch at Chennai announced a whooping donation of Rs. 260 crores to for conducting relief operations in Chennai. Out of it Rs. 65 crores will be given to Tamilnadu Chief Minister’s relief fund and rest of the amount Rs. 195 crores to NGOs and charitable trusts involved in rescue and relief operations in Chennai. Apart from this huge donation, Cognizant announced that it is directly take part in relief and rehabilitation works through its Cognizant Foundation. This is highest donation ever received by the government so far.

 

Several software companies, business houses, industrialists, film industry people and many others are also announcing huge donations for relief and rehabilitation works in Chennai.

 

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan has announced Rs. 1 crore donation. Heroes Allu Arjun, Suriya and Karthi donated Rs. 25 lakhs each.
